OnBootReceiver works, but doesn't find AlarmReceiver - java

I'm trying to set up an alarm receiver right after booting. Therefore, i have an OnBootReceiver that should register the alarm. The onBootReceiver works and it gets called, but somehow it cannot find my AlarmReceiver class.
OnBootReceiver which succesfully starts after booting:
public class OnBootReceiver extends BroadcastReceiver {
private static final String TAG = "OnBootReceiver";
#Override
public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) {
Log.i(TAG, "called");
Intent i = new Intent(context, com.packagenames.AlarmReceiver.class);
PendingIntent pi = PendingIntent.getService(context, 0, i, 0);
AlarmManager am = (AlarmManager) context.getSystemService(Context.ALARM_SERVICE);
Calendar time = Calendar.getInstance();
time.setTimeInMillis(System.currentTimeMillis());
time.add(Calendar.SECOND, 30);
am.setRepeating(AlarmManager.ELAPSED_REALTIME_WAKEUP, SystemClock.elapsedRealtime(), time.getTimeInMillis(), pi);
}
}
As you you can see, it configures the alarm tries to invoke com.packagenames.AlarmReceiver.class. This class exists and is located in the same package:
public class AlarmReceiver extends BroadcastReceiver {
private static final String TAG = "AlarmReceiver";
#Override
public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) {
Log.i(TAG, "alarm received");
Intent i = new Intent(context, com.packagename.DataService.class);
i.putExtra("action", "process");
context.startService(i);
}
}
Unfortunately, i get the following error:
02-03 09:22:25.344: W/ActivityManager(103): Unable to start service
Intent { flg=0x4 cmp=com.phonegap.packagename/.AlarmReceiver (has extras)
}: not found
The Android Manifest looks like this
<application>
// activities etc
<receiver
android:name="com.phonegap.packagename.OnBootReceiver"
android:enabled="true"
android:exported="false"
android:label="OnBootReceiver" >
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.BOOT_COMPLETED" />
</intent-filter>
</receiver>
<receiver
android:name="com.phonegap.packagename.AlarmReceiver"
android:enabled="true"
android:label="AlarmReceiver">
<intent-filter>
</intent-filter>
</receiver>
</application>
Do you see a mistake? Maybe I forgot something?
Thanks
edit: in the manifest, I added
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED" />
in order to make the OnBootReceiver work. Do I need something similar for the alarm?

Shouldn't you use getBroadcast instead of getService when creating a pending intent ?

The whole receiver stuff ONLY works if you application is NOT installed on a SD card. Add this to your manifest file to do so:
android:installLocation="internalOnly"

App Service won't Start after reboot by using BroadCastReceiver

I want my service to be started when android is rebooted. I used BroadcastReceiver to do so.
public class autostart extends BroadcastReceiver {
#Override
public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) {
MyService1 mYourService = new MyService1();
MainActivity.instance_main.showToast("BroadCast Received...................");
Intent mServiceIntent = new Intent(MainActivity.instance_main, mYourService.getClass());
if (!MainActivity.instance_main.isMyServiceRunning(mYourService.getClass())) {
MainActivity.instance_main.startService(mServiceIntent);
MainActivity.instance_main.showToast("Restarted...................");
}
else {
MainActivity.instance_main.showToast("already running..................");
}
}
}
Receiver in Android Manifest
<receiver android:name=".autostart" android:enabled="true" android:exported="true">
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.BOOT_COMPLETED"/>
<category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT"/>
</intent-filter>
</receiver>
Permissions defined
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED"/>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WAKE_LOCK"/>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS"/>
Battery optimization ignore permission also requested in OnCreate()
Intent intent=new Intent();
intent.setAction(Settings.ACTION_REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS);
intent.setData(Uri.parse("package:"+MainActivity.instance_main.getPackageName()));
MainActivity.instance_main.startActivity(intent);
But it won't work. Service won't start on reboot. Kindly Suggest me solution.
WE need to register the receiver. Add the following code to OnCreate()
IntentFilter filter = new IntentFilter(Intent.ACTION_SCREEN_ON);
filter.addAction(Intent.ACTION_SCREEN_OFF);
BroadcastReceiver mService=new Autostart();
registerReceiver(mService,filter);
However after reboot it wont automatically hit.

My FragmentActivity is not receiving broadcasts

I registered a BroadcastReceiver in my FragmentActivity like so:
private BroadcastReceiver mMessageReceiver = new BroadcastReceiver() {
#Override
public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) {
setMapLocations(intent);
}
};
private BroadcastReceiver mMessageReceiver = new BroadcastReceiver() {
#Override
public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) {
setMapLocations(intent);
}
};
and start the receiver is onStart():
public void onStart() {
super.onStart();
LocalBroadcastManager.getInstance(this).registerReceiver((mMessageReceiver),
new IntentFilter("MyNotificationData"));
}
and my broadcast sender is defined in the manifest as follows:
<service
android:name=".TrackerMessagingService"
android:enabled="true"
android:exported="false">
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="com.google.firebase.MESSAGING_EVENT" />
<action android:name="com.google.android.c2dm.intent.RECEIVE" />
</intent-filter>
</service>
The problem is that onReceive() never gets hit, even though the exact same code worked fine in an AppCompatActivity in the same app. Any idea what's going on? Do broadcast services not play well with FragmentActivity?
I don't know why this worked, but I was able to get around the issue by leaving the BroadcastReceiver code in the AppCompatActivity. In that case, both BroadcastReceivers got hit.

Broadcast class not recieving broadcast intent for BOOT_COMPLETE

I needed to restore alarm after reboot for this I added this broadcast receiver:
public class ClsRestartAlarm extends BroadcastReceiver {
#Override
public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) {
if ("android.intent.action.BOOT_COMPLETED".equals(intent.getAction())) {
Logging.logMessage("Broadcast");
Intent i = new Intent(context, BootService.class);
context.startService(i);
}
}
}
and registered in manifest like this:
<receiver android:name=".classes.ClsRestartAlarm"
android:enabled="true">
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.BOOT_COMPLETED" />
</intent-filter>
</receiver>
and as result of broadcast I'm doing this:
public class BootService extends IntentService {
public BootService() {
super("boot service");
}
#Override
protected void onHandleIntent(Intent intent) {
AlarmManagerUtils.setStartAlarm();
AlarmManagerUtils.setEndAlarm();
}
}
I guess I'm not receiving BOOT_COMPLETE broadcast in ClsRestartAlarm class, because after restart alarm was not set and I was unable to get notification(the starting alarm start a job scheduler for sending notification and end alarm cancels job scheduler)also I have BOOT_COMPLETE permission like this:
<uses-permission android:name="ANDROID.PERMISSION.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED"/>
Use WakefulBroadcastReceiver instead. This is my workable solution:
public class BRAutoStart extends WakefulBroadcastReceiver {
private final String BOOT_COMPLETED_ACTION = "android.intent.action.BOOT_COMPLETED";
#Override
public void onReceive(Context ctx, Intent intent) {
_A.APPCTX = ctx.getApplicationContext();
if(intent.getAction().equals(BOOT_COMPLETED_ACTION)){
//code
}
}
}
<receiver android:name=".BRAutoStart">
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.BOOT_COMPLETED" />
</intent-filter>
</receiver>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED" />

Alarm Manager didn't Triggger to Broadcast Receiver

I'm going to build an Application with Alarm feature to remind the patients to take medicine on time.
But current issue is the alarm manager didn't trigger on the XiaoMi phone, and it work on the samsung note 4 in Android 6.0. And before implement the code to my project, I had create a new project and using the same code to test it. In the new project the code work perfectly as long as the Autostart permission has grant. The alarm will trigger on time, and even restart the phone, the boot receiver will also work recreate the alarm, but it only didn't work on my application.
And now below is my code.
OnAlarmReceiver.java
public class OnAlarmReceiver extends BroadcastReceiver {
#Override
public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) {
Log.d("MyApp", "Received wake up from alarm manager.");
long rowid = intent.getExtras().getLong(RemindersDbAdapter.KEY_ROWID);
WakeReminderIntentService.acquireStaticLock(context);
Intent i = new Intent(context, ReminderService.class);
i.putExtra(RemindersDbAdapter.KEY_ROWID, rowid);
context.startService(i);
}
}
ReminderManager.java
public class ReminderManager {
private Context mContext;
private AlarmManager mAlarmManager;
public ReminderManager(Context context) {
mContext = context;
mAlarmManager = (AlarmManager)context.getSystemService(Context.ALARM_SERVICE);
}
public void setReminder(Long taskId, Calendar when) {
Intent i = new Intent(mContext, OnAlarmReceiver.class);
i.putExtra(RemindersDbAdapter.KEY_ROWID, (long)taskId);
int broadcastID = Integer.parseInt(taskId+""+when.getTime().getDate()+""+when.getTime().getYear()+""+taskId);
broadcastID = (int)when.getTimeInMillis();
System.out.println("Alarm when : "+ when.getTimeInMillis());
PendingIntent pi = PendingIntent.getBroadcast(mContext, broadcastID, i, PendingIntent.FLAG_ONE_SHOT);
System.out.println("Alarm Set ID : "+broadcastID);
if (android.os.Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= Build.VERSION_CODES.M) {
mAlarmManager = (AlarmManager)mContext.getSystemService(Context.ALARM_SERVICE);
AlarmManager.AlarmClockInfo ac= new AlarmManager.AlarmClockInfo(when.getTimeInMillis(), pi);
mAlarmManager.setAlarmClock(ac, pi);
System.out.println("Android 6.0 Marshmallow and above.");
}else if (android.os.Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= Build.VERSION_CODES.KITKAT) {
mAlarmManager.setExact(AlarmManager.RTC_WAKEUP, when.getTimeInMillis(), pi);
System.out.println("Android 4.4 Kikkat and above.");
}else{
mAlarmManager.set(AlarmManager.RTC_WAKEUP, when.getTimeInMillis(), pi);
System.out.println("Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and below.");
}
}
}
Manifest file:
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WAKE_LOCK" />
Forgot to mention, i had already register the .OnAlarmReceiver in manifest file
<receiver android:name=".OnBootReceiver">
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.BOOT_COMPLETED" />
</intent-filter>
</receiver>
<receiver android:name=".OnAlarmReceiver" />
My main issue is with same code it work on the new project i had create to do testing, but didn't work on the my main project.
Can someone help me out. Thanks in advance.
Register OnAlarmReceiver in manifest
<receiver android:name=".OnAlarmReceiver" />
<receiver android:name=".OnAlarmReceiver">
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.BOOT_COMPLETED"/>
</intent-filter>
</receiver>

How can i change incoming call screen of phone in java?

I want to change incoming call screen to my own layout. I used a sample to do this for me. but it sometimes appear(when calling) and sometimes not. I do not know how to solve this problem that my own layout appear every time.
This is my codes.
public class PhoneStateReceiver extends BroadcastReceiver {
#Override
public void onReceive(final Context context, Intent intent) {
Intent i = new Intent();
i.setClass(context, MainActivity.class);
i.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK);
context.startActivity(i);
}
}
and this is the manifest.
<receiver android:name="com.example.changescreen.PhoneStateReceiver">
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.PHONE_STATE" />
</intent-filter>
</receiver>
Try adding a delay before starting your activity.
The Problem is your activity is being overlapped by the default activity
