How to use R model in java to predict with multiple models? - java

I have this constructor:

the problem that Rsession.newInstanceTry(ps, null); is always the same session, so if i load another model, like:

Both re1 and re2 using the same model, since the var name is model, so only the last one loaded.

You haven't pasted all of your code in your question, so before trying the (complicated) way below, please rule out the simple causes and make sure that your fields modelFile and rsession are not declared static :-)
If they are not:
It seems that the way R sessions are created is OS dependent.
On Unix it relies on the multi-session ability of R itself, on Windows it starts with Port 6311 and checks if it is still free. If it's not, then the port is incremented and it checks again, if it's free and so on.
Maybe something goes wrong with checking free ports (which OS are you working on?).
You could try to configure the ports manually and explicitly start different local R servers like this:

If that does not work, please show more code of your Revaluator class and give details about which OS you are running on. Also, there should be several log outputs (at least if the log level is configured accordingly). Please paste the logged messages as well.
Maybe it could also help to get the source code of rsession from Google Code and use a debugger to set a breakpoint in Rsession.begin(). Maybe this can help figuring out what goes wrong.

IBKR TWS API - How to tell when reqOptionsMktData is complete for all strikes?

I am just getting started with IBKR API on Java. I am following the API sample code, specifically the options chain example, to figure out how to get options chains for specific stocks.
The example works well for this, but I have one question - how do I know once ALL data has been loaded? There does not seem to be a way to tell. The sample code is able to tell when each individual row has been loaded, but there doesn't seem to be a way to tell when ALL strikes have been successfully loaded.
I thought that using tickSnapshotEnd() would be beneficial, but it doesn't not seem to work as I would expect it to. I would expect it to be called once for every request that completes. For example, if I do a query for a stock like SOFI on the 2022/03/18 expiry, I see that there are 35 strikes but tickSnapshotEnd() is called 40+ times, with some strikes repeated more than once.
Note that I am doing requests for snapshot data, not live/streaming data
reqOptionsMktData is obviously a method in the sample code you are using. Not sure what particular code your using, so this is a general response.
Firstly you are correct, there is no way to tell via the API, this must be done by the client. Of course it will provide the requestID that was used when the request was made. The client needs to remember what each requestID was for and decide how to process that information when it is received in the callbacks.
This can be done via a dictionary or hashtable, where upon receiving data in the callback then check if the chain is complete.
Message delivery from the API often has unexpected results, receiving extra messages is common and is something that needs to be taken into account by the client. Consider the API stateless, and track everything in the client.
Seems you are referring to Regulatory Snapshots, I would encourage you to look at the cost. It could quite quickly add up to the price of streaming live data. Add to that the 1/sec limit will make a chain take a long time to load. I wouldn't even recommend using snapshots with live data, cancelling the request yourself is trivial and much faster.

Can JNA be used for a complex Windows DLL like IMAPI

I've managed to get COM4J to use some functionality in the windows IMAPI (CD writing).
However I've failed to get any of the calls that return SAFEARRAYs working, but this project doesn't appear to be currently active ...
The DLL is usually in C:\Windows\System32\imapi2.dll, and using it also requires using C:\Windows\System32\imapi2fs.dll
Looking around for a JAVA-COM bridge project that is active led me to JNA.
The remit of the project to simplify JAVA-COM bridging intrigued me .... however I fell at the first hurdle, and am hoping someone can help.
So far I've taken the Microsoft IMAPI examples and written a Powershell application, from which I have the series of calls I need to make to the API.[CDInterface][1]
The first thing you need to do with IMAPI is create an Instance of IDiskMaster2, so I've declared that via an Imapi2 interface, like so

IntelliJ shows up uninvoked methods, so it doesn't look like create() is getting called. Not sure if this is because I need to call it, or down to the function implementing IDispatch not IUnknown.

I've answered this in a similar question which I originally marked this as a duplicate of. However, given the difficulty loading this, your case is unique enough that I'll attempt to give a separate answer.
The general case for COM is that there is an API function that creates the object. You have mapped this as createMsftDiscMaster2(). Note that you have allocated a resource here and it needs to be disposed of when you are done with it; the API documentation should tell you how to do that (possibly by calling Release() from IUnknown.)
Your next step is to map the IDiscMaster2 COM class. I see two mappings here, so I'm confused as to which one you want. The one at the top of your question is incorrect, but the one extending Dispatch later is the correct way to start, but I'm not clear where you've gone after that. The rest of the class should look similar to the internals of the Dispatch class in JNA.
In that class you can see the boilerplate that you will follow. Note that it extends Unknown which follows the same boilerplate for offsets 0, 1, and 2 for the first 3 COM functions QueryInterface, AddRef, and Release. Dispatch picks up with offsets 3, 4, 5, and 6 for COM functions GetTypeInfoCount, GetTypeInfo, GetIDsOfNames, and Invoke.
So in your mapping for DiskMaster2 you will pick up with offset 7, and your mapping will look like:

This is where you need to locate the actual header file for this class to determine the order in which the functions appear in the Vtbl. It looks like you attempted to do this with your code, but the offset 2 is already assigned in Unknown, the lowest one you'll be able to use is 7 (and continue on with 8, 9, 10 for each function in this COM interface, in the correct order -- which you must determine from the Vtbl.)
Based on this header, you can see those functions mapped in order and your offsets should be: 7: get__NewEnum, 8: get_Item, 9: get_Count, and 10: get_IsSupportedEnvironment. Use those header function mappings as a start and change them to the _invokeNativeObject() format above. (They all return HRESULT, you'll just be changing the argument list.)

Test if object was properly created

I'm putting more attention into unit tests these days and I got in a situation for which I'm not sure how to make a good test.
I have a function which creates and returns an object of class X. This X class is part of the framework, so I'm not very familiar with it's implementation and I don't have freedom as in the case of my "regular collaborator classes" (the ones which I have written). Also, when I pass some arguments I cannot check if object X is set to right parameters and I'm not able to pass mock in some cases.
My question is - how to check if this object was properly created, that is, to check which parameters were passed to its constructor? And how to avoid problem when constructor throws an exception when I pass a mock?
Maybe I'm not clear enough, here is a snippet:

So, this creates an InputSplit. I would like to know whether this split is created with correct parameters. How to do that?
If the class is part of a framework, then you shouldn't test it directly, as the framework has tested it for you. If you still want to test the behaviour of this object, look at the cause-reaction this object would cause. More specifically: mock the object, have it do stuff and check if the affected objects (which you can control) carry out the expected behaviour or are in the correct state.
For more details you should probably update your answer with the framework you're using and the class of said framework you wish to test
This is possibly one of those cases where you shouldn't be testing it directly. This object is supposedly USED for something, yes? If it's not created correctly, some part of your code will break, no?
At some point or another, your application depends on this created object to behave in a certain way, so you can test it implicitly by testing that these procedures that depend on it are working correctly.
This can save you from coupling more abstract use cases from the internal workings and types of the framework.

Activating and Deactivating Entities in Dynamics CRM from Java API

I am using the Microsoft Dynamics CRM, using the Java API generated as per their tutorial and SDK downloads.
I can create, delete, and update entities with no problems.
I am now at the stage where I need to set entities to active or inactive.
I had thought that the right way to do this was roughly

The above code has been tested and works for updating any attributes except the state/status ones. When I try the above code, however, (i.e. the code that tries to update the state/status), I get the following error (calling with state/status values of 1 and 2 respectively. I got those values by looking at existing Invalid entries in the CRM dumped through the same api, so I am (almost) certain that they are correct.

I have noticed that in other languages, there is a SetState request, but I don't find a similar one in Java.

Need to split a thread so it runs in multiple threads. Also need to figure out a synchronized issue - JAVA

This program is about showing the oldest, youngest ect person in a network.
I need to figure out how I can improve it, so I dont get the ConcurrentModificationException. I get this when I ask for displaying more of these multiple time, like asking for youngest, oldest, and make it refresh to tell me whos the current youngest.
