Generating Java classes using JAXB and xjc maven plugin

I am new to XJC Maven plugin. I am trying to generate a Java class from XSD. I have placed the XSD file in the location src/main/resources/static/xsd (Say my filename is example.xsd). I have also created a package src/main/java/com/example/message where I expect the sources of my generated Java classes. My pom file looks like below:

But when I build the project, no files are generated in com.example.message. Can anyone please suggest what wrong I am doing?

If you do not specify destination folder your generated classes will be placed in /target/generated-sources/jaxb.
I would not place those classes in any folder or package under src/main/java: I think that generated files should be dropped and recreated every time you launch the build using Maven. In this way you are sure to have always the correctly generated file.
If you use IntelliJ you should be able to use classes, if you are an Eclipse user then you must add them to source folders (right click on folder -> Build Path -> Use as Source Folder).
You do not need to specify anything to include those classes when producing jar/war files, Maven will automatically include them.

#Autowired is not found in my project with spring-boot

My RestController
No import to #Autowired, why?

#Autowired is part of spring-beans-XXX.jar. spring-boot-starter will have spring-beans as trasnsitive dependancy. So spring-beans*.jar must be in your classpath. This seems to be some issue of IDE.
Try restarting your IDE. If you are using Intellij, choose following option- File->Invalidate Cache/Restart.
Try to build the project first, so that all jars are downloaded and available in classpath.
Try to manually add spring-beans*.jar in classpath, if none of above works.

I am not aware about Spring Boot but have you tried below one for import org.springframework.beans.factory.annotation.Autowired;

Add external library .jar to Spring boot .jar /lib without mvn install

I've been reading around on this site and others, trying to figure out how add these external jars without doing mvn install, and haven't had any success. I was reading somewhere that maven-shade could address my problem, but I could never get that to work? I know spring boot doesn't like system scope but it seems to error out if I choose something else?

You can create a new directory "lib" on your project, put your jars in this directory and then add them to your classpath.
If your IDE is IntelliJ you can follow this link:

If you use another IDE you have to find on google how to add jar on your project classpath.

How does project tag formatting affect a POM file and it's ability to draw dependencies?

I've been trying to get oriented with Spring Boot, Maven, and Couchbase for work so I've been researching it and building some tutorials. Something interesting that I've run into is that seemingly the same project tag with slightly different formatting can cause the POM file to not work correctly, and thus cause errors in all the classes that draw from the dependencies.
I first ran into this problem with a prior project. After troubleshooting for a long time, I knew it had to be a POM issue and not Maven because other projects were working fine with Maven. I noticed that the only error in the POM file was the starting project tag was underlined (literally just the word project, nothing else in the tag). I fixed it by copying the project tag from a functioning project and replacing it.
So this happened again with another project that I'm working on now. I tried the same fix and it didn't work. But copying the project tag from a different functioning project did work.
After scanning through the tag, I can't understand why this happens. For the record, all the code I'm posting has been provided to me through the spring.io tutorials, so I find it especially interesting that I have to work around this.

Can someone help me understand why this would happen? Keep in mind, both of these project tags worked in some project, be it this one, or another.

The differerence is
http://maven.apache.org/xsd/maven-4.0.0.xsd
versus
http://maven.apache.org/maven-v4_0_0.xsd
IOW, the broken one has /xsd/ in it.

How to convert a Spring Application to a Spring Web Application?

I have a Spring Core Application which I would like to convert to a web project. I have already implemented all the business logic for my application in a normal Java Project using Eclipse IDE with Maven build.
But since I started out with a Core Java Project I do not have the WebContent folder or the Apache Tomcat wrapper. So what would be the best way to convert this project? Should I just change the pom.xml or does Spring have an alternative solution using the SpringBoot which I have already included in the pom.xml? (As you can tell I am new to Spring framework)

You can configure the directories required for Web under project facets. You can do that by,
Right click on the project properties. Select “Project Facets“, and
click “convert to faceted form…”
