For some reason the following Android app code
com.google.api.services.drive.Drive drive;
...
drive.files().list().setQ("mimeType='application/vnd.google-apps.folder' and 'appdata' in parents").execute().getItems();
started returning empty list since May 14. This code was returning my custom folders for more than 1 year before.
I can see my App Data content still exists through
https://drive.google.com/drive/my-drive > Settings > Manage Apps.
Any ideas what is wrong?
This was a caching issue specifically for App Folder content that affected list queries.
The issue has now been rectified. Thanks for reporting.
Writes were not affected.
The issue still occurs. LIST method doesn't work for newly created files in Application Data Folder. After few hours LIST method returns those files.

I'm trying to use AWS Explorer in Eclipse but it doesn't show newly created tables. When I use this Java sample code to create a table AWS Explorer doesn't show the new table after refreshing. It doesn't show it in either the local or us-west-2 region. If I run the code again it throws an Exception saying "Cannot create preexisting table ..." so the Movies table was created. If I change the second parameter in
new AwsClientBuilder.EndpointConfiguration("http://localhost:8000", "us-west-2")
by deleting the '2' I can run again successfully. Running a second time gives the same error.
What does the second parameter to EndpointConfiguration() do? It doesn't have to be a valid region name. Is this supposed to correspond to one of the regions in the AWS Explorer region drop list? Why do I need a region if I'm running locally? The second parameter does something since changing it allows me to create another table, but having it be a region name just muddies the waters. Apparently it can be anything. The JavaDoc is no help on this.
The Java code apparently is creating the Movie table somewhere else than AWS Explorer is looking. I've also tried RazorSql and it doesn't see the Movie table either. Both see tables created with AWS Explorer though.
Where does the Java code create its tables?
Try this for the client line:
new AwsClientBuilder.EndpointConfiguration("http://localhost:8000", "local")
I figured it out by checking what .db files were being created for the version of DynamoDB that I'm using. I saw one with "us-west-2" and another with "local". I decided to give "local" a try as the region and it worked! I can now see tables that were created using the "local" region.
I've posted a comment on the Amazon DynamoDB Developer guide explaining the need for an update to their code examples.
When I do any changes in xml layout file, it doesn't reflect with new compilation build although R.java is generated but when I run the application changes doesn't reflect. I need to rebuild the whole project which is taking time. Any help on this?
I guess before it was working fine.
Yes Sometimes it also happens to me. If you are doing changes i right way in the Xml file then those must be appear when you run your app. But if it does not happen, then you need to rebult your application, or clean it several time. if it also does not work to you then do the follwoing :
Close and re-open (Restart) the android studio and try running app again.
If step 1 is also not helpful then Uninstall app from your device , Disconnect and connect device again and rebuilt/Run app directly in your device again.
I hope this will work for you.
Pleas check if you have enabled Power save mode (File -> Power Save Mode) which turn off auto compilation
Android Studio - Auto complete and other features not working
I "touch" AndroidManifest.xml and that forces a build. Does not take nearly as long as rebuilding project or restarting emulator. It's a hack, but hey, it's my hack.
This sounds similar to my situation. I had an extra quote character in my colors.xml file, which caused errors when I tried to run my app. What worked for me was to remove the extra quote in my colors.xml file. Then I saved the file. Then I restarted Android Studio.
You can simply switch to project view and remove the build of the app:
After a few days of fighting this issue, I solved it by deleting all "v26" directories inside the "res" directory, since the activity was using it instead of the usual "layout" directory for accessing the xml.
app/src/main/res/layout-v26/
had to be deleted and you should remain only with
app/src/main/res/layout/
Anyway, I am new to android development and am not sure if this can lead to other issues, so be careful.
I’m coding my first java Desktop application using eclipse and I’m having difficulty deploying it. My project uses JavaFX2 and the e(fx)clipse plugin, the latter is in charge of generating the build.xml file.
ABOUT THE APP
The app, amongst other things, provides an interface where the user can create categories and associate these with labels. All modifications are saved within a single file (the data is stored as a serialized object.) and are supposed to be loaded automatically when the app is reopened.
THE PROBLEM
When build as an executable jar using a .xml file (Ant), the project runs fine within the folder where it gets created. I can run my application, modify data, and save everything once I’m done. When I reopen the app everything gets loaded as it should.
However, if I copy the folder elsewhere, I can no longer save any data. Everything else seems to work; the app will even load the data that was saved when it was in its original directory. I assume that this means that the app can still see the data file, but can no longer write to it.
WHAT IVE TRIED
I’ve read that warping the .jar around an installer may fix the issue; however, one of the goals for the app was to make it as portable as possible. Meaning that it should be possible to move it around from one directory/computer to another, ideally in a manner that is cross-platform friendly, without the need of installing it.
I’ve tried various things to get it to work. I’ve shifted the whole project to Netbeans (to produce a different build), I’ve modified the save/load method file path to make sure the right document is targeted, I’ve tweaked the .xml file the best I could, and I even tried to build the project using the javafxpackager. No matter what I do, when the build works, I get the same results.
Right now, I’m thinking that there may still be something wrong with the .xml file but I’ve got a hard time understanding how to modify it. Perhaps the problem is somehow caused by the way the data gets serialized. I know that at one point when I moved things around within my project, both the save and load methods could no longer interact with the data.
What I find strange is that when the project is moved the load method still works. If the problem is caused by changing the file path, how come only the save method ceases to function?
APP FILES AND STRUCTURE
+src
-(Main.java)
+controller
-(misc.javas)
+modelData
-(Library.java) -->the object that is serialized
+modelLogic
-(misc.javas)
+view
-(misc.javas)
+files
-(library.data) -->the file where the serialized object is saved
+lib
-(empty.empty)
So, is their anything I can do to solve my problem?
Thanks in advance.
In the end, the problem was rather simple. When I was moving the app, I was always putting it on the desktop, which, in the case of my PC, sets by default all content as read-only (in relation to the app's privileges). Because of this, the app could not modify any files that were within folders on the desktop.
Therefore, all I had to do was to move the app to another directory, such as C:\randomFolder, and the problem was solved.
So, if anyone has a similar problem, moving the app elsewhere may be the solution. Alternatively, taking full ownership of the folder and its content can also work.
When possible, it is usually better to have the app ask its user for a specific location to save its data.
I have created a subpackage of views in order to customize the default look of securesocial's templates. (I have used https://github.com/ngarera/securesocial-custom-views-sample as an example and basically copied the relevant files)
There are two i18n-files (messages.en, messages.de) in my /conf folder.
Viewing the main page confirms that the messages.en is correctly used.
However, when calling /login (and therefore displaying the custom template), no messages-key is correctly looked up - instead only the key itself (e.g. "auth.login") is displayed, when really it should show "Login".
I have seen a similar request at Stackoverflow (How to change text in SecureSocial) where it was stated to remove the .en file extension. Doing that will show the correct Message...but creating one messages file is not really the point of internationalization...
I have confirmed that my browser sends the correct language (http://www.mybrowserinfo.com/detail.asp?bhcp=1) so messages.de should work...(which it does when I open a self-made controller - only the custom-securesocial-view is not working...)
Does anybody have similar problems?
And why does the localization work for securesocial's messages?
Regards,
David
PS: using Play 2.1.3, Java
There were some issues in the SecureSocial code that prevented i18n from working properly.
This has been fixed and is currently available in the master-SNAPSHOT version because a stable version with those changes has not been released yet.
Problem solved: Thanks guys, see my answer below.
I have a website running in Tomcat 5.5 hooked up to a MySQL5 database using Hibernate3.
One record simply refuses to keep any changes performed on it. If I change the record programmatically, the values revert back to what they were previously.
If I manually modify the record in the database, the values will revert (seemingly once the webapp accesses them).
I have tried stopping Tomcat and changing the values manually then starting Tomcat again. Checking the database, the values remain changed after Tomcat has started the webapp but will revert back again once I load the site.
I have also tried deleting the Tomcat work folder for the webapp and the .ser cache file.
I have also checked the code for the values that are being reverted to and cannot find them.
I have only noticed it on this one particular record.
Edit: I've just had a look at the SQL output from Hibernate using hibernate.show_sql=true. There is an update query logged for the table my row is in. Does anyone know how to resolve the ? for the columns to actual values?
You could temporarily enable the mysql query logging and see exactly what sql statement altered the value. Since you say it changes immediately after the server starts you should be able to figure out the statement pretty quickly.

To answer your question:
Does anyone know how to resolve the ?

You can do this with p6spy. Instructions for how to set this up in a Spring app are available here.
However, I think there's a mistake in these instructions, the file they refer to as p6spy.log should actually be name p6spy.properties.
It's getting close to halloween, so you have to expect this sort of thing (plus it was just a full moon), but I'd keep looking for the culprit in the web application ... it HAS to be there. A couple values I'd immediately search for in the webapp source code:
The id of the record being changed.
The value that's being written into
the record.
Good luck ... these can be real bears to find!
This smells a little like a test-case firing on start up that modifies the row to what it expects it to be before testing.
Add a trigger BEFORE UPDATE, check row id, raise an SQL error if it matches your magic row.
Then check the generated stacktrace, walk the code and locate the piece that updates the row.
Thanks to everyone for the help. All of the suggestions came in handy for tracking it down.
I've managed to find out what was causing it. Bad database design, multiple data models and Hibernate makes for some nasty stuff. Another table had the value stored and that class was extending a base class with the same value.
Time to look at doing some normalisation.
