Integrate Hibernate 5.2 with Spring framework 4.x - java

I am using latest stable Spring version (4.2.6.RELEASE).
After upgrading Hibernate from 5.1 to 5.2 and changing hibernate-entitymanager dependency to hibernate-core due hibernate documentation: https://github.com/hibernate/hibernate-orm/wiki/Migration-Guide---5.2
I dont receive any compile error but all my tests fails with this stack trace:

Hibernate 5.2 supports added in Spring framework 4.3 , that its stable version will be available in next week.
Spring 4.2 only supports Hibernate up to 5.1.
see this:
https://jira.spring.io/browse/SPR-14334

The issue is related to the versions only.
Use Hibernate version 5.1.0 with Spring 4.3.7. It will solve this issue.
Add the below dependency along with Spring framework dependencies of version 4.3.x .
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-entitymanager</artifactId>
<version>5.1.0.Final</version>
</dependency>`

methods are
applyFlushModeHint
protected boolean applyFlushModeHint(FlushMode flushMode)
Apply the FlushMode hint.
Parameters:
flushMode - The FlushMode value specified as hint
Returns:
true if the hint was "applied"
Where FlushMode can be
ALWAYS The Session is flushed before every query.
AUTO The Session is sometimes flushed before query execution in order to ensure that queries never return stale state.
COMMIT The Session is flushed when Transaction.commit() is called.
MANUAL The Session is only ever flushed when Session.flush() is explicitly called by the application.
NEVER Deprecated. use MANUAL instead.

The only reason for NPE if it happens at the line of code you mentioned above is serviceTask is null.
If you're not using the correct test runner which can help you to initialise the mock instance, then you can actually initialise them manually in your setUp method by using MockitoAnnotations.initMocks(this);
But if you already did so or used the correct test runner, then probably you linked to a wrong line of code. Try to debug yourself again.
Your stack trace doesn't look like it caused from your linked line of code.

Java Hibernate LazyInitializationException only when running with JUnit only

I am using Java + Spring boot(Ver 2.1.16) + Hibernate + JPA for an API project.
I have several models with several OneToMany relationships.
I haven't mentioned a fetch type but as I know it's Eager in default according to my used Hibernate version.
I have mentioned #Transactional in my service method also.
All good when I get data calling to the API endpoint via Postman (I receive all fields including OneToMany) without any exception.
But when I call the service method via Unit tests, I get following exception.

What can be the issue?
When you call the rest API using postman, it works because Spring Boot offers a feature called OpenSessionInViewFilter which open a hibernate session for the current session of your HTTP request. When you call the service method directly by the test method without being annotated by #Transactional, the lazy fetching does not work because there is no hibernate session opened.
I could resolve the issue after adding
#Transactional
to my Test methods also

I am trying to migrate my codebase beyond Java 8, and Ignite is now the only dependency holding me back. I have tried adding --add-module to my runner, but I can't seem to find what is needed to make Ignite work with JDK 9.
The same error is with Ignite versions 2.4.0 and 2.5.0.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Try adding the following parameters when launching Java:
--add-exports=java.base/jdk.internal.misc=ALL-UNNAMED
--add-exports=java.base/sun.nio.ch=ALL-UNNAMED

Can not acquire write lock on EC2-based Cassandra backend

I have deployed Cassandra 3.11.1 on an EC2 instance and connecting to it from my machine using the JanusGraph Java API. For testing purposes, the instance allows all inbound and outbound TCP connections.
In the cassandra.yaml file I have configured the following values like so:
listen_address: private EC2 address
broadcast_address: public EC2 address
seeds: public EC2 address
start_rpc: true
rpc_address: private EC2 address
endpoint_snitch: Ec2MultiRegionSnitch
Note that when I want to use the public EC2 address as rpc_address, Cassandra startup fails with this message:
Failed to bind port 9042 on <public EC2 address>
Finally I try to connect to the graph, add a vertex and commit.
JanusGraph graph = JanusGraphFactory.build()
.set("storage.backend", "cassandra")
.set("storage.hostname", "<public EC2 address>")
.set("storage.cassandra.keyspace", "debug")
.set("storage.batch-loading", false)
.set("query.force-index", false)
.set("query.fast-property", true)
.set("cache.db-cache", true)
.set("schema.default", "default")
.set("index.search.backend", "elasticsearch")
.set("index.search.hostname", "127.0.0.1")
.set("index.search.elasticsearch.interface", "REST_CLIENT")
.open();
graph.addVertex("myLabel");
graph.tx().commit();
Committing fails with the following error:

I would appreciate any pointers on what could be wrong.
The network latency between my local machine and the EC2 instance was in fact too high to acquire a lock in time. Increasing the storage.lock.wait-time from 100ms to 1s resolved the issue.

Transient mode for unit tests with jclouds and Openstack Swift doesn't work

I just migrated to jclouds 2.0.0 (it was suppose to some of the problems with not repeatable operations and it did). Here are the dependencies
<dependency>
<groupId>org.apache.jclouds.driver</groupId>
<artifactId>jclouds-slf4j</artifactId>
<version>2.0.0</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.apache.jclouds.api</groupId>
<artifactId>openstack-keystone</artifactId>
<version>2.0.0</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.apache.jclouds.api</groupId>
<artifactId>openstack-swift</artifactId>
<version>2.0.0</version>
</dependency>
I want to have unit tests for my code. But when I use transient as a provider:
SwiftApi swiftApi = ContextBuilder.newBuilder("transient")
.endpoint(endpoint)
.credentials(user, password)
.modules(modules)
.overrides(overrides)
.buildApi(SwiftApi.class);
I get this exception:
com.google.inject.ConfigurationException: Guice configuration errors:
1) No implementation for org.jclouds.openstack.swift.v1.SwiftApi was bound.

The same code run with openstack-swift as provider (and correct credentials and endpoint) works just fine.
Passing any other string as newBuilder function parameter cause:
java.util.NoSuchElementException: key [wrongstring] not in the list of providers or apis: {apis=[openstack-keystone, openstack-swift, transient]}
at org.jclouds.ContextBuilder.newBuilder(ContextBuilder.java:175)
which made me think that transient should be supported. But how to make it work?
You can't create a SwiftApi view of a transient blobstore; instead you must use the portable BlobStore view:
String provider = ...; // openstack-swift or transient
BlobStoreContext context = ContextBuilder.newBuilder(provider)
.endpoint(endpoint)
.credentials(user, password)
.buildApi(BlobStoreContext.class);
BlobStore blobStore = context.getBlobStore();
// interact with blobStore, e.g., get, put
...
context.close();
