This has appeared since I redeployed two EAR files, I guess the problem lies somewhere there but I don't know where to begin investigating this. Can anyone help?

I had the wrong context root set for each of the deploys.

Jersey REST Service in Websphere 8.5

I am developing a REST service with JAX-RS annotations in Websphere 8.5 via RAD, and it has been MADDENINGLY inconsistent. I saw posts saying that one has to set com.ibm.websphere.jaxrs.server.DisableIBMJAXRSEngine to true. I did that. And it works...when it feels like it.
As I make changes, I inconsistently find myself getting exception like the following. When they come, the solution is always some combination of clean/rebuild/clean the server/restart RAD/restart WAS. It's never an actual code or config issue.
I am using Jersey in the app.

Spring Boot JDBC Exception when using JDK 1.6

I'm trying to create a Spring Boot application using JDK 1.6, and when I add the "spring-boot-starter-jdbc" dependency I'm getting the exception below. I understand the exception has something to do with the compiler version differences but unsure how to go about figuring out the issue. If I remove the "spring-boot-starter-jdbc" dependency everything is fine. Any help in resolving this issue and also how to further troubleshoot it would be helpful.

The reason you see that exception is exactly as you might have guessed. That is, because you are using an old version of JDK.
Good news is that you have options. You can, of course, upgrade your JDK, which is the advisable solution since JDK 6 is out of support and has been for a long time now.
Your other option is to include a connection pool library that is not requiring you to use JDK above version 6. Keep in mind that if you intend to keep using Spring Boot you are likely to hit the same issue again.
As noted in the official Spring Boot documentation, you can define your own DataSource as a regular Spring bean. You can use HikariCP or any other library that is JDK 6 compliant. I would advise not to use an older version of Tomcat connection pool to avoid name conflicts.

Issue with deployment to WebSphere 8.5.5.6 using CXF 2.7.17

I am trying to deploy webservices developed using CXF 2.7.17 to websphere liberty 8.5.5.6. I am receiving the following error when I try to request the WSDL file. Also there are some suggestions regarding this such as bundling the CXF libraries but we are already doing that. I am not sure why this works locally on the same version of WAS but when we deploy it to a server elsewhere using the same version we have issues like this:

It looks like we were actually deploying to WAS Classic v8.5.5.6 and not WAS Liberty v8.5.5.6 - In addition because I was not involved in the install, some libraries we needed did not get installed.
It looks like the main culprit was the jaxws-2.2 library that may have been bundled in with WAS Classic. Under WAS Liberty this was not an issue as we did not specifically select that feature to be activated in our server.xml.
