hello all sorry for my English first. I am trying to startup my springboot app but it is not getting started because of servlet-api 3.1 and older version conflict but i don't know which dependency is getting conflicted for this, hope some can help me. Below is my pom file details:

I had a similar problem (Sprint Boot 1.5 and Kettle 8) and I found out the problem/conflict is with kettle-core and kettle-engine.
I excluded slf4j and servlet in those dependencies:

Situation
I had an similar issue with my server application using Spring Boot 2.2.6.RELEASE, but it was not the fault of Spring boot, but my usage of Wiremock for testing in combination with starting my application inside an IDE:

My application works even with those exceptions, but for testing and debugging I do not want to have those distractions and would prefer to avoid them.
Details
WireMock (e.g. 2.26.3) uses internally Jetty 9. But Jetty does not include internally Servlet API 4 but 3 and there seems to be not much progress, even for jetty 10/11 etc. - see https://github.com/eclipse/jetty.project/issues/4578
IDE start
So when starting an IDE which does not separate automatically between runtime dependencies and test dependencies, you will have Jetty included Servlet 3 API in your classpath!
Server start by jar
In my integration tests where my application was started with runtime dependencies only, I did not have any of those exceptions, because having no jetty dependencies.
Solution
So in my case I got three possibilities to solve the problem for IDE starts:
change classpath ordering in IDE launch configuration
separate my dependencies so project used for server start does no have dependencies also in IDE, or
switch Spring Boot Web start dependency from tomcat to jetty ...

Check for dependencies with javax.servlet with this:

Definitions-App throws an exception on start after update to Magnolia 5.5.7

I'm testing a possible upgrade of Magnolia to Version 5.5.7 (from Version 5.3.14), i got it so far that our project works completely and i get no warnings on startup anymore.
I followed the recommended update steps stated in Magnolia's documentation:

But when i try to open the definitions app the sub-app "overview" it uses throws a NullPointerException and i can't figure out why.
The Error persists even when i delete and recreate the entire repository so i think it has something to do with dependencies, unfortunately i don't know a lot about dependency implications in Magnolia i'm just using the packages and versions recommended plus what we used before to compile the project.

Updating Magnolia to Version 5.6 with blossom 3.2 fixed the error for me

I'd guess you ran into https://jira.magnolia-cms.com/browse/PSWDMNGR-7
Try to exclude password manager module or replace it's version with 1.0.1-SNAPSHOT that has this issue fixed (don't take 1.2, that's compatible only w/ Magnolia 5.6).

I assume the package com.mihanblog is yours, so that should be one of your classes.
Does this class even exist ?
Or did you make a typo while defining the bean? Because the name "CustompostHandlelerInterceptor" looks like a typo to me.

Maven: slf4 jars with different versions are added after pom compile, and war gets version conflict error because of that

I am having issue with my pom. Even when I am not adding any dependancy in the pom, in war I am getting:
1. slf4j-api-1.5.11.jar
2. slf4j-api-1.6.1.jar
3. slf4j-log4j12-1.6.1.jar
Issue: due to this My war doesn't run on the server and gets error regarding conflict. I need to resolve this issue.
Manual Solution: I remove the slf4j-api-1.5.11.jar manually from the war and it starts running on the server.
Can you please help me to avoid this manual solution and My pom is it self handles it. I also used exclusion, but of no vain.

While YMomb's answer should work (and its easy), you can also explicitly exclude transitive dependencies from a dependency.
To find which dependencies consist org.slf4j as a transitive dependency, run
mvn dependency:tree -Dincludes=org.slf4j:*
This will give you something like , ( at least it gave me from above of your dependencies)

I am trying to download dependencies using Maven but Maven is not downloading any jars from the central repository which means i have to manually install them which is a pain
I can telnet from my computer to the central repository using telnet repo.maven.apache.org 80 but when i use a browser to access the repository http://repo.maven.apache.org/ i am getting the following webpage
Browsing for this directory has been disabled.
View this directory's contents on http://search.maven.org instead.

i FINALLY found the issue. I am using Windows 8 with JRE 6 and 7 installed. In my development environment i am using JRE 7.
Im not sure about the specifics but it looks like the JRE was trying to use IPv6. I disabled this and set it to use IPv4 using the below command and it resolved everything
cmd : setx _JAVA_OPTIONS -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true

The browser behavior is expected. Web browsers are prohibited to browse the root directory and lot of large subdirectories (org/com/net).
However, if you need to browse the repo, deeper points can be browsed: http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/apache
Note the repo1, you should always be using the domain name, repo1.maven.org.
UPDATE: looking at your pom.xml, seems you didn't replace standard info with your project info:

I think you need to update the version of jxls if you want to bundle POI-3.7.
Looking at the source for POI-3.7 is has a method:
public void setCellValue(RichTextString value)
{
HSSFRichTextString hvalue = (HSSFRichTextString) value;
....
}
rather than:
public void setCellValue(HSSFRichTextString value)
{
}
It would seem the latter was in POI-3.2, on which jxls has a dependency and which it was compiled against, but not in POI-3.7.
I note the answer below however looking at the class Signature for HSSFRichTextString in POI-3.2 it is as below:
public class org.apache.poi.hssf.usermodel.HSSFRichTextString implements java.lang.Comparable {
}
viz. does not implement RichTextString (which it does in POI-3.7).
It would seem then that POI-3.7 is not backwards compatible with POI-3.2.

I removed dependance poi 3.7 from pom and excluded poi-ooxml-schemas, poi-ooxml from jasperreports like below.

in pom.xml so this issue got resolved and i am no longer getting the exception . Thanks

Update the jars 'poi-3.11.jar' and 'jxls-reader-1.0.6.jar' (working on jdk1.8+)

Please upgrade the apache poi jar version to 4.1.2. I'm using JasperReports 6.13.0 version, this was resolved for me.
