I'm trying to install the Informix CSDK to get the drivers for an ODBC connection using Perl and DBD::ODBC. When running the ./installclientsdk, I'm getting the following error:
Initializing InstallShield Wizard........
Launching InstallShield Wizard........erified.
The wizard cannot continue because of the following error: could not load wizard specified in /wizard.inf (104)
I've read that only open-jdk is available on Ubuntu 11.10 so I went and installed the java version, which is where I'm at now. If I debug, I get:
QJMLException: (error code = 3002; message="java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: sun.beans.editors.BoolEditor")
I've been following this post:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1483193
But so far no luck on getting JRE running or the CSDK installed. Any suggestions on this one?
Thanks!
There should be a JVM included with the software, and the installer should use it if it cannot find an appropriate alternative. The question then is whether the JVM bundled with CSDK can run on Ubuntu 11.10. It is certified for Redhat and SuSE, I believe.
Which version of CSDK are you trying to install? Which kernel version and GNU C Library version are in Ubuntu 11.10?
I'm not keen on the '...erified' (as opposed to ...verified) part of the message; it is ominous when such simple messages are not displaying correctly.
I've not installed Informix on Ubuntu sufficiently recently to have any useful recollections of how well it worked. I don't remember any problems, but that could just mean I'm old and forgetful.

each time that I try to install java through sdk, using this command: sdk install java 8.0.232.hs-adpt
I getting this error :
Stop! java 8.0.232.hs-adpt is not available. Possible causes:
8.0.232.hs-adpt is an invalid version
java binaries are incompatible with your platform
java has not been released yet
Tip: see all available versions for your platform:
I am using ubuntu 20.04.2
Do you need especially java 8.0.232.hs-adpt version?
In case you don't, this worked for me https://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2021/03/oracle-java-16-released-install-ubuntu-20-04/.
You can install open jdk automated but you can not install Orcale's JDK through sdk man or apt, this is because Oracle's licensing agreement of java does not allow the installation to be automated.
You have to go to the Oracle's download page and download the appropriate tar and and you can automate the install with a repository add later on if you really need it.

Yes, java 8.0.232.hs-adpt is for hadoop-hdfs. I am having problem to connect to the port. Even when I have changed the port. Some people told me that it is about my java version, so I need to install it with sdk-man
I will try your solution.
I have working to setup an project on local. I have used Virtual Box because VMWare Fusion is available for MAC and I am working on windows. During the process when I run “vagrant up --provider=virtualbox” commend then JDK 7 error was displayed error screenshot is given below
http://prntscr.com/m7jp7e
After that I have installed “Oracle JDK 8” on /usr/lib/jvm/ path manually on virtual box Linux and then run vagrant up command then again JDK 8 issue is displayed.
I have also changed the path of java_home and jdk_version in “coldfusion-server.rb” file.
Please have a look error screenshot below.

Mac user here! Highly recommend using CommandBox to run any version of Adobe ColdFusion on a Mac. Much easier to deal with than VirtualBox or manual installation. The only issues you might encounter is with older versions of ACF that run on JRun showing errors in CF Admin related to JRun specific references. Nothing to really worry about.
You can change the JDK and other settings used by CommendBox using server.json:
{
"name":"ACF Application",
"jvm":{
"javaHome":"/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0_80.jdk/Contents/Home",
"heapSize":2048,
"minHeapSize":1024,
"args":"-XX:MaxPermSize=1024m"
},
"app":{
"cfengine":"adobe#9.0.2+282541",
"serverHomeDirectory":"serverHome"
}
}
These are some of the settings I have to run a legacy ACF 9 on my Mac using an older JDK with non-default memory settings. See Configuring Your Server for more info.
I run a new Mac with OS Sierra Version 10.12.1, installed Java 8.111 which is recognised successfully by the test program and eventually installed eclipse neon 4.2. But when I try to start it, I get the message "To open “Eclipse” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime". There is a link to the site "https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?locale=en_US" dated from July 22 2015 and telling to install java for OSX 2015-01 for the OS 10.7 to 10.11. There is also a link with explanation starting with a warning, that this information is about an older unsupported Java version, Download the latest version of Java for OS X directly from Oracle. There is some information hard to understand ( why should Java 6 be installed, since it is deprecated and even dangerous?)
Since I didn't find any other mean and thought the page was maybe not updated I installed the tool, but the launch eclipse still stops unexpectedly with an error report.
Thanks for ideas to overcome this
Like #greg-449 pointed out, install Java 8 JDK (not JRE) to get Eclipse Neon running on macOS Sierra.
Do not install Java 6. I tried that, and got an error message saying Java 8 is needed.
I've installed Android standalone tools on Windows 7 32-bit, but when I am trying to run the android utility on the command line, the following error report is shown:
No suitable Java found. In order to properly use the ADT, you need a version of JDK installed (...)
I have Java properly installed in C:\Program Files\Java\JDK, and my JAVA_HOME is set to this path. (C:\Progra~1 - for ANT), PATH includes C:\Program Files\Java\JDK )
I have read on here in other posts that android utility simply starts find_java.exe, so when I start the program directly, I had this error:
The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows
you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether
you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then
contact the software publisher.
It just seems like the SDK manager installs wrong (64-bit? I am not an expert on that, but the error seems like that) of Java finder for some reason.
Has anyone encountered a similar kind of error? What could some reasons for that be?
Thank you in advance
I am using preinstalled jdk for development on mac which is 1.6.0_17. With this version or copy if installed jdk i cannot run java applets in firefox or any other web browser on mac. if i update my mac with latest java which is Java for mac OS X 10.6 update 6 then i can solve java applet. But with latest java update i cannot connect to MSSQL Server which is bug in java 1.6.0_29. I would be happy to install older version of java for mac OS X but those are not available, may be i am unable to find them through google ?
My query is, how can i solve both problems ? can i install two java versions on mac and use them parallely, lets say one for eclipse and other for browser. OR is there any other way to cope both problems.
I am using current snow leopard, myEclipse, Java 1.6.0_17 and mssql server 2008.
The bug that causes the JDBC driver to fail is fixed in java 1.6.0_30 - see http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/6u30-relnotes-1394870.html
If you can't wait for update 30 for the Mac to arrive, the bug description suggests that you may be able to avoid it by reconfiguring your the JDBC connection to use a non-SSL/TLS channel. (I've no idea how you'd do that, but it is worth investigating if you are desperate for a workaround.)
Alternatively talk to Apple or Oracle's Java support.
I have not solved it 100% but some how solution or workaround works. Which is working with two javas
Java for mac osx
