[Eclipse not starting]:An error has occured. See the log file null

I'm unable to get my Eclipse Luna running. It was working fine till now and suddenly crashed. Now when i try to start it, I get the error saying:

I tried launching eclipse from terminal and also tried to delete the metadata folder from my workspace but nothing helped me.

It seems you're using Solaris? This OS has an alternative entropy source called EGD, which needs special protocol to write to, which Sun JDK does not implement...
Can you try adding -Djava.security.egd=/dev/random to the vmargs section of your eclipse.ini.
If you still see the same issue. Make sure your user can write to /dev/random.

I fixed it myself. Few files in my security folder /jre/lib/security had got messed up.
Downloaded latest Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) and put the jars (Download US_export_policy.jar and local_policy.jar) in the security folder. My eclipse works fine now.

Intellij Groovy Compiler throws error Grabbing Grapes (download failed)

I'm currently getting the following error when I try to compile my groovy project in Intellij IDEA 15.0.3 on Mac OSX 10.10.5. (This issue is not occurring for the same project on a Windows machine)

The JAR exists in repo.maven.org and in jcenter.bintray.com.
I can download and include it in my project explicitly using compile "com.google.code.gson:gson:2.2.4" - I still see this compiler issue.
I can't see any reason why the download would fail, I'm using the out-of-the-box ~/.gradle/grapeConfig.xml.
I've tried deleting my grapes cache directory and re-downloading dependencies - works for all my explicitly defined dependencies.
I'm on a home network - no proxy.
I want to enable advanced logging, so that I can see the exact reason why the Grapes download is failing. I've tried adding the groovy.grape.report.downloads=true system property to the terminal (and in ~/.bashrc), but to no avail. I couldn't find any way of setting these properties in the Intellij "Groovy Compiler" settings page. (If I could enable Grapes logging, I'm confident I'd be able to see the root cause)
The Intellij project is setup from gradle cleanIdea idea. When the project is built from the command line - gradle clean build (on Mac and Windows), the application compiles with no errors - only problem is in Intellij on a Mac.
This gson.jar isn't actually referenced in any #Grab/#Grape annotations, I haven't checked but I'm guessing it's a transitive dependency.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I had the same problem and for me it was the maven cache that was the problem.
I found the solution on this page:
rm -rf ~/.m2/repository ~/.groovy/grapes
I had previously tried removing the ~/.groovy/grapes cache, but that didn't fix the problem. Removing the ~/.m2/repository is what actually did it for me.

I got this script working in IntelliJ without problem:

First thing I did was to write the #Grab declaration... right-click on it, select "Grab artifacts"...
EDIT: Actually, I think put the cursor on #Grab, then pushed Alt+Enter (which is what I usually do to get suggestions from IntelliJ).
IntelliJ failed and told me I need to add Ivy to the classpath... so I opened Project Structure, in Module dependencies added Ivy, tried again... it worked.
Running the script again, it printed the expected message.

Unable to start server due following issues: Launch process failed with exit code 1

For 3 days now, I have been trying to install glassfish 4.1 on eclipse Luna version 4.4.1. I first installed the plugin from eclipse marketplace then added it in my runtime using jdk 8. I also made jdk my default since eclipse default uses jre. I have to point out that I have been been using glassfish on netbeans and tomcat on eclipse but I decided to play around with glassfish on eclipse. Every information I got on the internet didn't fix my issue.
Below is the error I got in the console. Right now, this is driving me nuts so I have decided to come to you for direction.

I guess this is a similar problem. The cause may be that you have installed Glassfish in c:\Program Files. You can try to move your Glassfish installation to a directory where your normal user account has full access rights but you then have to change the path to the Glassfish installation in Eclipse.
My own experience:
Turns out that all the problems I had with the glassfish server (including exit code 1 error) was because glassfish could not handle folder names with spaces in it. So I moved the glassfish-4.1 folder from C:\Program File\glassfish-4.1.. path to C:\ glassfish-4.1.. It wiped all my tears away. This is really important in eclipse and netbeans IDEs (if you are installing the netbeans that does not come with a glassfish bundled zip).

I had the same problem and fixed it by installing Glassfish under C:\ instead of C:\Program Files. Try that.

use JDk 7 instead of JDK 8 am also faced the same issue i just changed to jdk7 its working now.

Some background information: I'm running eclipse kepler 20130919-0819, os x 10.9.1, google suite plugin 3.5.1.
Deployment now does not work on any of my projects. I recently updated the plugin and there was a message that it required java 1.7. Development was working as usual after that message and I had no problems until I tried to deploy. (When I change the java compatibility on the project I get an error that GAE required 1.7.)
This may be related to the problem I'm having with java. According to mac preferences, java 1.7 is installed yet when I start a terminal session and issue the java command to check the version, it indicated 1.6. eclipse also seems to be running on 1.6 and I can't figure out how to rectify this. It may or may not be related.
My question is: can I fix this problem in place or do I have to back out updates and reinstall? I can continue to develop but am unable to deploy until I have a solution.

So I find the keplar eclipse.ini file. There is no -vm entry. It has the following contents:
/System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines is 1.6.0.jdk. I assume that this is where eclipse is picking up the jvm.
So I find and add an entry in the .ini file following the pattern in eclipse wiki:

Then I go to the Mac Java Preferences which says that java is 1.7 is installed under:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin/Contents/Home/bin/java
This is where java gets installed when you go to java.com to install.

I see that I have to update the .ini file, but where or how do I get the right java?

Eclipse 3.5 customized with some plugins fails to start on target machine

i have been creating a customized Eclipse Version with some specific Plugins (CDT, AVR-Development) and after configuring and testing successfully on my machine, I zipped the eclipse-Folder and send it to my client to install onto the target machine.

This looks like some files are missing or the configuration is wrong, but i can't reproduce the error. I removed my workspace, moved the eclipse Folder around, tried everything under another User-Account.
Does anyone have an Idea why this works on my machine (it was a vanilla Win7-Installation) but fails on his (also, Win7 - fresh install) ?

Are you using a .product to produce your custom Eclipse build? Or are you adding plugins to an existing Eclipse build?
Either way, I'd recommend uzipping exactly what you sent your customer on a different machine than your development box. It may give you a better chance to reproduce the problem.
Based on the traces, this product "org.eclipse.epp.package.cpp.product" is in use. My guess is that the plugin that defines the Application referenced by that product is either missing from your zip, or one of its dependencies is missing.
If you add -console and -noExit as command line arguments, you can get to the OSGi prompt. You can then type 'ss' to see the status of all the bundles. If you then type 'start ' for any resolved bundles you can see why they didn't start. This sort of debugging can be helpful when you are out of other ideas.
Using the 'ss' command on your system that is working and the system that is not will help identify if you are missing any bundles or have bundles in different states.
