Hi,
I have a problem when my war file is deployed into the jboss deploy folder i.e. deployment is failing, I am sure that this is some what related to configuration and classpath issues but I am unable to figure out the exact piece which is causing the problem.
Here is the procedure/method I followed. Actually I'm building the .WAR file by using ant build script (In eclipse). Finally my war file will not contain lib folder (which means no .jars in it internally, thats the requirement as .WAR file shall not be heavy weighted) But every .jar (including servlet-api.jar) file that is needed to .WAR is made available in the jboss classpath configurations but still I'm getting the Errors and Exceptions while deploying. Please find the log for more details (server.log info is pasted) above.
NOTE:In my ant build script I'm not compiling/linking any classes anything internally. What I mean to say is: Even for ant file .jars are made available through ant classpath.
Here is an abstract of my build.xml:
<target name="compile" depends="clean, init">
<javac destdir="${rds.build}" debug="true" srcdir="${rds.src}">
</javac>
</target>
<target name="war" depends="compile, doTestLevel, doProdLevel">
<war destfile="${rds.dist.bin}/RDSGUIWeb.war" >
<fileset dir="${projectRootDir}/WebContent">
<include name="**/*"/>
<exclude name="/WEB-INF/lib/**" />
</fileset>
<classes dir="${rds.build}" />
</war>
</target>
UPDATE: I tried to run the jboss by removing servlet-api.jar from its classpath, At this time I'll be getting something like application listener of class com.icesoft.faces.util.event.servlet.ContextEventRepeater not instantiated. In both ways (either including servlet-api.jar or not) I'm unable to succeed. Thats the reson I approached stackoverflow.

I copied all the jars to the lib folder which is in default folder (i.e. default JBOSS instance's library folder) instead of making them available in the JBOSS's classpath/buildpath user entries. That worked finally!!!

Below is my project structure
Same project is working fine with Weblogic 11G
I was able to resolve issue.
For people having similar issue.
Add weblogic.xml with following content in tag.
<container-descriptor>
<prefer-web-inf-classes>true</prefer-web-inf-classes>
</container-descriptor>
This step will remove stackoverflow error.
Later you might get some dependency error which can be resolved as required.

I have the following error when i try to run jboss 6.0.0 on java 7

The error message shows that something is wrong with your deployed qwthd.ear:
DEPLOYMENTS IN ERROR: Deployment "vfszip:/C:/opt/isv/jboss-6.0.0.M1/jboss-6.0.0.M1/server/default/deploy/qwthd.ear/" is in error due to the following reason(s): javax.management.InvalidAttributeValueException: Set attribute has class class javax.management.ObjectName loaded from null that is not assignable to attribute class class javax.management.ObjectName loaded from BaseClassLoader#3d8bc7{vfszip:/C:/opt/isv/jboss-6.0.0.M1/jboss-6.0.0.M1/server/default/deploy/qwthd.ear/}
It's just a guess, but have you build your ear with Java 7?
Best practice would be: First startup the JBoss without any deployments, to verify that is starting correctly on Java 7. If it is starting up without any errors, than try to deploy your application.
I think the error has nothing to do with JBoss 6 running on Java 7, but with running your application on JBoss 6 with Java 7.

The Bluemix runtime has recently updated to Liberty buildpack v2. In an effort to eliminate all Classloading issues, try pushing your app as a stand-alone application:
cf push <yourappname> -p myapp.war
The server.xml file now includes many updated features (i.e jaxrs-2.0) for pushing stand-alone apps.
If you want to use the prior version of the buildpack, do so with the following comand:
cf push appName -p myapp.war -b liberty-for-java-v1
This blog post explains the changes in the Liberty for Java buildpack:
https://developer.ibm.com/bluemix/2015/09/08/upcoming-liberty-for-java-buildpack-changes/

Download installer 6.1.0.Final
Modify build properties so that it downloads and installs Jboss EAP 6.3
Run ant with task install.demo.noeclipse
Run jboss standalone with command standalone.bat -c standalone-full.xml
but when jboss is starting i get the following error:

I'm very confused since the installer is set to work (aparently) with jboss eap 6.1.1 and the migration to 6.3 should be straigh forward.
Has anyone solved this?

does red5 read tomcat-users.xml

I have been busy creating an app for Red5. Imagine what was my surprise when I tried to configure basic/digest authentication and I couldn't.
What struck me as strange is that I have a running tomcat instance that works and authenticates correctly with the following xmls:
web.xml (part of)
<security-constraint>
<web-resource-collection>
<web-resource-name>A Protected Page</web-resource-name>
<url-pattern>/stats.jsp</url-pattern>
</web-resource-collection>
<auth-constraint>
<description/>
<role-name>tomcat</role-name>
</auth-constraint>
</security-constraint>
<login-config>
<auth-method>DIGEST</auth-method>
<realm-name>BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA</realm-name>
</login-config>
<security-role>
<description/>
<role-name>tomcat</role-name>
</security-role>
and a tomcat-users.xml in /conf that looks kinda like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<tomcat-users>
<role rolename="tomcat"/>
<user username="ide" password="bogus" roles="tomcat"/>
</tomcat-users>
The annoying thing is that configuration authenticates correctly when on tomcat's servlet container, but on the red5's modified one, it just keeps asking for authentication. Am I becoming mad or it should work like a charm?
Red5 is version 0_9_1
The stats.jsp is accessible in both
servlet containers, the only
difference is that when you input
the correct password and username in
tomcat, you are logged in, and in
red5 you are not, it just keeps
asking you for the password.
Any pointers? Am I missing something?

This error is kinda strange, because after this it seems that /WEB-INF/ is found by the rest of the program by the following output:
[INFO] [Launcher:/SOSample] org.springframework.beans.factory.config.PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer - Loading properties file from ServletContext resource [/WEB-INF/red5-web.properties]
[INFO] [Launcher:/installer] org.springframework.beans.factory.config.PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer - Loading properties file from ServletContext resource [/WEB-INF/red5-web.properties]
[INFO] [Launcher:/] org.springframework.beans.factory.config.PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer - Loading properties file from ServletContext resource [/WEB-INF/red5-web.properties]
[INFO] [Launcher:/LiveMedia] org.springframework.beans.factory.config.PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer - Loading properties file from ServletContext resource [/WEB-INF/red5-web.properties]
What really annoys me is that, as you can see in the output, when I try to login, I get a JAASRealm-related exception, but in the debug output when Tomcat is loading, it is clear to me that it expects a MemoryRealm. I was wondering where and how in red5.xml should I specify bean properties such that I force red5 to use MemoryRealm that is under /conf/tomcat-users.xml, because it certainly doesn't do so now.
It seems like the biggest question I have posted so far, but I tried to explain it as fully as possible as to avoid confusion.
For Red5 0.9, try adding this node to your tomcat.server bean.
<property name="realm">
<bean class="org.apache.catalina.realm.MemoryRealm" lazy-init="true">
<property name="pathname" value="conf/tomcat-users.xml" />
</bean>
</property>
If the xml is still not found (try a full path) or the realm property doesn't allow you to set it, I would suggest that you upgrade to 1.0.
I've seen this problem numerous times, and, on our systems, it was typically hiding a configuration issue. Are you sure that all of the relevant paths are set, so that all of your libraries can be properly accessed?
Also, the resource pattern syntax, that seems a bit broken, can you replace that configuration setting with a list of all of the files, instead?
