Scrolling to selected item in ListPreference - java

I have the following problem.
I created a custom list preference for displaying a textview with an additional image.
Nearly everything works fine except of the following problem:
The original list preference scrolls to the position which is currently selected, but my custom list preference does not show this behaviour. If I replace the custom list preference with the android version (or in my case the holoeverywhere version), everything works fine.
Therefore, I think that the bug must be in my current implementation of the custom list preference.
public class CustomListPreference extends ListPreference {
private CustomListPreferenceAdapter customListPreferenceAdapter = null;
private Context mContext;
private LayoutInflater mInflater;
private CharSequence[] entries;
private CharSequence[] entryValues;
private Map<String, Boolean> rButtonMapping = null;
private SharedPreferences prefs;
private SharedPreferences.Editor editor;
public CustomListPreference(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) {
super(context, attrs);
mContext = context;
mInflater = LayoutInflater.from(context);
rButtonMapping = new HashMap<String, Boolean>();
prefs = PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(mContext);
// init the button mapping with the default values
for (int i = 0; i < Data.getData().length; i++) {
rButtonMapping.put(Data.getData()[i], false);
}
// Set the current selected value to true
String currentSelectedValue = prefs.getString(
SettingsActivity.CUST_PREF_KEY, "TEST1");
rButtonMapping.put(currentSelectedValue, true);
editor = prefs.edit();
}
#Override
protected void onPrepareDialogBuilder(Builder builder) {
entries = getEntries();
entryValues = getEntryValues();
if (entries == null || entryValues == null
|| entries.length != entryValues.length) {
throw new IllegalStateException(
"ListPreference requires an entries array and an entryValues array which are both the same length");
}
customListPreferenceAdapter = new CustomListPreferenceAdapter();
builder.setAdapter(customListPreferenceAdapter,
new DialogInterface.OnClickListener() {

}
});
}
private class CustomListPreferenceAdapter extends BaseAdapter {

return entries.length;
}

}

}

if (row == null) {
row = mInflater.inflate(R.layout.custom_list_preference_row,
parent, false);
}
TextView text = (TextView) row
.findViewById(R.id.settings_tv_test);
text.setText(entries[position]);
try {
InputStream ims = mContext.getAssets().open(
"pics/" + entryValues[position] + ".png");
BitmapDrawable d = new BitmapDrawable(mContext.getResources(),
ims);
d.setTargetDensity(mContext.getResources().getDisplayMetrics().densityDpi);
text.setCompoundDrawablesWithIntrinsicBounds(d, null, null,
null);
} catch (IOException e) {
text.setCompoundDrawablesWithIntrinsicBounds(null, null, null,
null);
}
RadioButton rButton = (RadioButton) row
.findViewById(R.id.settings_rb);
// If the current position is checked we also check the current
// value
rButton.setChecked(rButtonMapping.get(entryValues[position]));
row.setClickable(true);
row.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
public void onClick(View v) {
for (String currentString : rButtonMapping.keySet()) {
rButtonMapping.put(currentString, false);
}
// Set the current selected value to true
rButtonMapping.put((String) entryValues[position], true);
// Also send the selected value to the editor
editor.putString(SettingsActivity.CUST_PREF_KEY,
(String) entryValues[position]);
editor.commit();
getDialog().dismiss();
}
});
rButton.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
for (String currentString : rButtonMapping.keySet()) {
rButtonMapping.put(currentString, false);
}
// Set the current selected value to true
rButtonMapping.put((String) entryValues[position], true);
// Also send the selected value to the editor
editor.putString(SettingsActivity.CUST_PREF_KEY,
(String) entryValues[position]);
editor.commit();
getDialog().dismiss();
}
});
return row;
}
}
}
I also did research here on Stackoverflow and Google, but no one seems to have this problem.
Does anyone see what the problem is?

I suggest to replace the call to setAdapter with a call to setSingleChoiceItems method of the builder:
builder.setSingleChoiceItems(adapter, adapter.getSelectedItem(),
new DialogInterface.OnClickListener() {
public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int which) {
}
});
The adapter.getSelectedItem() would be a method that returns the index of the current selected row.

To scroll to a selected item in a ListPreference, just use the setSelection method of Android ListView in the onCreateDialogView() method of your custom ListPreference class. For example:
public class CustomListPreference extends ListPreference {
#Override
protected View onCreateDialogView() {
ListView mListView = (ListView) view.findViewById(android.R.id.list);
// Scroll to selected item in ListView.
mListView.setSelection(findIndexOfValue(getValue()));
}
}

Listview not behaving well with Folding Cell Library

I have a problem using folding cell library from the RAMOTION
I have implemented everything but I am facing a problem with the list view
I have a list of planets and when user tap on let's say Jupiter the view gets unfolded and more information is visible to the user and when user tap on the same view which is seeing then the view gets folded
Problem
if the user scrolls down the list and then scroll back up and come back up to Jupiter the view remains unfolded and it is happening to all the view.
I appreciate if anyone helps me out

How avoid refresh checkbox while expand list in android

I'm making NLevel expandable list using listview. I've added checkbox only last level data in list view. I have stuck in below scenario.
If I check checkbox then when I expand listview means checkbox gets automatically unchecked.I don't want it to be like that. If I checked checkbox it should stay checked until I uncheck manually.
Please anyone help me!! It's been two days I stuck here.
Here goes my code:

//then foreach grandparent create a random number of parent (second level) NLevelItems

Thanks in advance!!
i think you need to store the checkbox state in a boolean (is checked), and reflect that on the view, when getView() is called.
1- Add boolean checked to NLevelItem :
private boolean checked = false;
//add setter: setChecked(boolean)
//add getter isChecked()
2- Use that boolean in getView() (last one where checkbox is added)
#Override
public View getView(final NLevelItem item) {
// .......
final CheckBox checkBox = (CheckBox)view.findViewById(R.id.check);
checkBox.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
//store checkbox state, note that NLevelItem item might need to be defined with 'final'
item.setChecked(checkBox.isChecked());
if(checkBox.isChecked()){
tempList.add((String) ((SomeObject)childs.getWrappedObject()).getName()+"+"+name);
}
else {
tempList.remove((String) ((SomeObject)childs.getWrappedObject()).getName()+"+"+name);
}
}//onClick()
}//setOnClickListener()
//update checkbox state from the corresponding NLevelItem
checkBox.setChecked(item.isChecked());
//.......
}//getView()
-EDIT:
to select 1 item, you need to iterate all items, set checked = false, but 1
i am not sure if you have to do it on:
List<NLevelItem> list;
or
List<NLevelListItem> filtered;
in the adapter class
private void selectOnly(int position){
for(int a=0;a<list.size();a++){
if(a == position){
list.get(a).setChecked(true);
continue;
}
list.get(a).setChecked(false);
}//for loop
notifyDataSetChanged(); // to update views (checkbox state)
}
Usage: selectOnly(15);
Use ViewHolder class to set and get Tag like this:
public class ListAdapter extends BaseAdapter {
private Context con;
private List<String> dataLt;
private static LayoutInflater inflater = null;
public ListAdapter(Context context, List<String> dataList){
con = context;
dataLt = dataList;
inflater = (LayoutInflater)con.getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE);
}
#Override
public int getCount() {
return dataLt.size();
}
#Override
public Object getItem(int position) {
return position;
}
#Override
public long getItemId(int position) {
return position;
}
#Override
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
View vi = convertView;
ViewHolder holder;
if(convertView==null){
/****** Inflate tabitem.xml file for each row ( Defined below ) *******/
vi = inflater.inflate(R.layout.list_item_search, null);
/****** View Holder Object to contain tabitem.xml file elements ******/
holder = new ViewHolder();
holder.textView = (TextView) vi.findViewById(R.id.textView);
/************ Set holder with LayoutInflater ************/
vi.setTag( holder );
}
else
holder=(ViewHolder)vi.getTag();
return vi;
}
public static class ViewHolder{
TextView textView;
}
}
Hope this may help.

Dynamic Spinners - if an item is selected from one spinner, hide it from other spinners - Android

How to hide an item from other spinners that is currently selected in one spinner?
I've tried removing the items via ArrayList of strings and ArrayAdapters, but I've noticed as soon as it's removed from the list, the selection is no longer referenced to the list item (because it does not exist anymore).
Now suppose, I have 4 spinner that are created dynamically and they all have the same ArrayList as their resource and now i would like to use this adapter to fetch the position of the selected item from 1 spinner and then hide it from 3 other spinners.
for (int i = 0; i < numberOfStops; i++) {
AddStopView stopView = new AddStopView(getActivity());
stopView.setCallback(BaseBookingFragment.this);
stopView.setPassengerNames(extraPassengerNames);
stopViews.add(stopView);
parent.addView(stopView, viewPosition);
}
In above code i am creating Stop Views dynamically and each Stop View having Passenger Name spinner. And these all spinners have the same ArrayList as their resource.
piece of code from AddStopView.java
public AddStopView(Context context) {
super(context);
initialize();
}
public void setCallback(StopViewCallback callback) {
this.callback = callback;
}
public void setPassengerNames(List<String> passengerNames) {
this.passengerNames = passengerNames;
passengerAdapter.setNames(passengerNames);
}
private void initialize() {
inflate(getContext(), R.layout.view_stop, this);
passengerAdapter = new ExtraPassengerAdapter(getContext());
passengerAdapter.setNames(passengerNames);
nameSpinner.setAdapter(passengerAdapter);
nameSpinner.setOnItemSelectedListener(new AdapterView.OnItemSelectedListener() {
#Override
public void onItemSelected(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int position, long id) {
if (view == null) {
return;
}
passengerName = (String) view.getTag();
if (position != 0)
callback.updatePassengerList(AddStopView.this, (position - 1));
}
#Override
public void onNothingSelected(AdapterView<?> parent) {
}
});
}
code of call back of nameSpinner.setOnItemSelectedListener
#Override
public void updatePassengerList(AddStopView addStopView, int position) {
for (String passName : extraPassengerNames) {
if (addStopView.getPassengerName().equals(passName)) {
extraPassengerNames.remove(passName);
break;
}
}
for (AddStopView stopView : stopViews) {
if (!stopView.equals(addStopView))
stopView.setPassengerNames(extraPassengerNames);
}
}
code from ExtraPassengerAdapter.java
public class ExtraPassengerAdapter extends BaseAdapter {
private List<String> names = new ArrayList<>();
private Context context;
public ExtraPassengerAdapter(Context context) {
this.context = context;
names.add(get0Position());
}
public void setNames(List<String> names) {
this.names.clear();
this.names.add(get0Position());
this.names.addAll(names);
notifyDataSetChanged();
}
#Override
public int getCount() {
return names.size();
}
#Override
public String getItem(int position) {
return names.get(position);
}
#Override
public long getItemId(int position) {
return 0;
}
#Override
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
TextView textView = (TextView) LayoutInflater.from(parent.getContext()).inflate(R.layout.adapter_stop, parent, false);
String name = getItem(position);
textView.setText(name);
textView.setTag(name);
return textView;
}
private String get0Position() {
return context.getString(R.string.passenger_name);
}
}
I think the right way to solve you problem is to create one list with all possible options and 4 lists with 4 adapters for each spinner. When something selected you update each list according to logic you described and call adapter.notifyDataSetChanged() for each adapter.

How to update listview in tab?

I have two tabs in my app and there are listviews in this tabs.
I set List data to each listvew.
I want to delete form list, and from listview when I click [x] image.

item.addToCart.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
#Override
public void onClick(View v) {
Intent productDetailsIntent = new Intent(mContext, ProductDetail.class);
productDetailsIntent.putExtra(AllProducts.PRODUCT_INDEX, finalMPosition);
productDetailsIntent.putExtra("type", mType);
mContext.startActivity(productDetailsIntent);
}
});
return convertView;
}
public class ViewHolder {
TextView pid;
TextView addToCart;
TextView name;
TextView price;
TextView description;
ImageView imageView;
ImageView removeProduct;
TextView productQuantity;
}
}
You can introduce notifyDataSetChanged() in the list view or you can reset the setAdapter() which the new list values , but later one will be costly
You have 2 different List, try doing this:
Create a constructor without passing a List i mean:
CustomListAdapter(MyOrders.this, "", true);
Then in the CustomListAdapter create an List Local variable and instatiate it in the constructor:
private List<Product> mProductList;
public CustomListAdapter(Context context, String type, boolean showQuantity) {
layoutInflater = LayoutInflater.from(context);
mContext = context;
mProductList = new ArrayList<Product>();
mShowQuantity = showQuantity;
mType = type;
}
then create an Add or Delete method in the CustomListAdapter:
public void AddItem(Product product){
if(null != product){
mProductList.add(product);
}
}
Then an updateMethod too:
public void update(){
mProductList.notifyDataSetChanged();
}
if notifyDatasetChanged is not working try to use this
yourlist.invalidateviews();
You need to remove that particular item from arraylist by calling
AllProducts.remove(position);
notifyDatasetChanged();
write this methode in your adapter and use it to remove perticular Item from adapter.
public void remove(int position){
mProductList.remove(position);
notifyDatasetChanged();
}
I resolved my problem.
public static void setTab(int i){
if(i==0){
mTabHost.setCurrentTab(i+1);
mTabHost.setCurrentTab(i);
}
else{
mTabHost.setCurrentTab(i-1);
mTabHost.setCurrentTab(i);
}
}
and
#Override
public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int which) {
curProduct.selected = false;
AllProducts.removeProduct(curProduct);
MyTabActivity.setTab(0);
}
and for second listview:
MyTabActivity.setTab(1);
The only reason it is not working for you now, is because you have two different lists. You are removing from wrong list.
So first of all, do not delete from your list. Write a method in your adapter where you remove it from list you have stored in that Adapter, and then call notifyDatasetChanged in that method.
Working with tabs in android 2.x, I found a bug in the emulator: The tabs are not correctly refreshed or removed. Alternatives is to use support library v7 which as support for action bar tabs.
Use following code to update ListView.
In order to update ListView you must have to call notifyDataSetChanged(); menthod on Adapter. See Below code.
What you did.
notifyDataSetChanged();
notifyDataSetInvalidated();
What you have to do is,
yourAdapter.notifyDataSetChanged();
Or you may use following code to refresh your list.
private List<Object> mCarlistitem= new ArrayList<Object>();
public void refreshlist()
{
mCarlistitem.clear();
for(int i=0; i< mCartList.size(); i++)
{
Object object = new Object();
mCarlistitem.add(object);
}
mProductAdapter = new CustomListAdapter(MyOrders.this, mCartList, "",true);
listViewCatalog.setAdapter(mProductAdapter);
}

update listview from an Array adapter

I'm trying to refresh the list view when I click on a single item of the list view.
For example I'm trying to do something like this:
public class RssItemsAdapter extends ArrayAdapter<Item> {
private TextView txtTitle;
private ImageView imgFavourite;
private int resourceId;
private Context context;
private List<Item> items = new ArrayList<Item>();
public RssItemsAdapter(Context context, int resourceId, List<Item> items)
{
super(context, resourceId, items);
this.context = context;
this.items = items;
this.resourceId = resourceId;
}
#Override
public int getCount() {
return items.size();
}
#Override
public Item getItem(int index) {
return items.get(index);
}
#Override
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent)
{
View row = convertView;
Item item = getItem(position);
if (row == null) {
LayoutInflater inflater = (LayoutInflater) context.getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE);
row = inflater.inflate(resourceId, parent, false);
}
txtTitle = (TextView) row.findViewById(R.id.title);
txtTitle.setText(item.getTitle());
imgFavourite = (ImageView) row.findViewById(R.id.favourite);
imgFavourite.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() {
public void onClick(View v) {
if (item.isFavourite() == true) {
imgFavourite.setBackgroundResource(android.R.drawable.btn_star_big_off);
}
else {
imgFavourite.setBackgroundResource(android.R.drawable.btn_star_big_on);
}
}
});
// add a "star" icon on favourite items
if (item.isFavourite() == true)
imgFavourite.setBackgroundResource(android.R.drawable.btn_star_big_on);
else
imgFavourite.setBackgroundResource(android.R.drawable.btn_star_big_off);
return row;
}
Every time I click on the imgFavourite icon it should change. Where is the problem?
It doesn't look like you are ever changing the value of item.isFavourite(). Assuming you want to toggle when that item is clicked...
imgFavourite.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() {
public void onClick(View v) {
// Toggle the current state
item.setIsFavourite(!item.isFavourite());
if (item.isFavourite() == true) {
imgFavourite.setBackgroundResource(android.R.drawable.btn_star_big_off);
}
else {
imgFavourite.setBackgroundResource(android.R.drawable.btn_star_big_on);
}
}
});
Also, you should be doing this kind of work in the ListView's onItemClickListsner. As is, this will create a new onClickListener each time a new row is brought into view. Beyond that, check into the "view holder pattern".
