When using the Java Attach API, I'm getting the following link error on Linux (tried it on different machines) only:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: sun.tools.attach.WindowsAttachProvider.tempPath()Ljava/lang/String;
at sun.tools.attach.WindowsAttachProvider.tempPath(Native Method)

...
Interestingly, on Solaris and Windows it's working out of the box.
I tried out several combinations of specifying java.library.path to point to the directory which contains the libattach.so but with no luck.
What's wrong here?
And as a bonus question: Is there a way to see which native library is actually bound to a java class?
Different AttachProvider are used on different platforms. On Linux, it shouldn't use sun.tools.attach.WindowsAttachProvider. It is for Windows.
[solaris] sun.tools.attach.SolarisAttachProvider
[windows] sun.tools.attach.WindowsAttachProvider
[linux] sun.tools.attach.LinuxAttachProvider
This is configured in a resource file META-INF\services\com.sun.tools.attach.spi.AttachProvider (typically this file exists in tools.jar). It will search CLASSPATH to get first occurrence of this resource file and read the AttachProvider implementation class from it.
So you can probably resolve this problem by search sun.tools.attach.WindowsAttachProvider in your CLASSPATH. Possibly you have included a tools.jar from Windows.

I am trying to run a test file InspectVM from libguestfs library inorder to have accesss to a disk image in windows. However, I have the following errors on my console
run:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no guestfs_jni in java.library.path

I searched allover the internet and find that I should set java.libraly.path pointing to location of the guestfs_jni. my major problem is that I do not have any file with that name guestfs_jni. Do I need to make one myself or can I find it somewhere. any kind of help is appriciated. am a newbie in JNI so I dont have much imformation on it
You're looking for a file called guestfs_jni.dll. Usually the native library comes with the jar file.
From http://libguestfs.org/guestfs-java.3.html:
Libguestfs for Java is a Java Native Interface (JNI) extension, supplied in three parts: libguestfs.jar, libguestfs-VERSION.jar, libguestfs_jni.so, libguestfs.so
So the distribution comes with libguest_jni.so which ist for Linux and not for Windows. IIRC, there is no libguestfs for Windows. So you would first have to find out if it is even possible to compile libguestfs using Cygwin and if yes build it yourself.
If you're on Windows 10 you could try installing libguestfs and a Java runtime for the Linux subsystem and run inside the subsystem.
I am trying to set up On Demand Server in my local machine and when ever I am deploying the application on tomcat server I am getting below error message on browser. I have updated the PATH variable also.
root cause
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: ars3wapi32 (Not found in java.library.path)
java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibraryWithPath(ClassLoader.java:1007)

javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.s`enter code here`ervice(HttpServlet.java:621)
javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:722
)
Here is a guide the solution (for Windows and OnDemand V9.5).
First of all, you need to install ODWEK on the machine where you want to run your java app. Please install in the default folder, this whole thing is tricky enough as it is...
Set the environment variable "PATH" in Windows, add "C:\Program Files\IBM\OnDemand\V9.5\bin"
Set CLASSPATH in your development environment - point out the ODApi.jar file and ALSO point "Native library..." to the \bin folder above. (You can also call the program and setting the CLASSPATH in the call as a parameter: -Djava.library.path="C:\Program Files\IBM\OnDemand\V9.5\www\api\ODapi.jar"
Copy the file ars3wapi64.dll from C:\Program Files\IBM\V9.5\www to C:\Program Files\IBM\OnDemand\V9.5\bin
Ensure that all of these files are in the bin-catalog above:
**ars3wapi64.dll**
icudt53.dll
icuin53.dll
icuio53.dll
icule53.dll
iculx53.dll
icuuc53.dll
arsgsk64.dll
If you are getting the error "java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: ars3wapi32 (Not found in java.library.path)" one of the above is most likely incorrect.
OR you could be using different versions of ODWEK and OnDemand.

Thanks, Rohit
First, and despite this connector is designed for Java, you should be aware that SAP Java Connector is not platform independent. You should have guessed it because there are different download links for each architecture in SAP's website.
So, the SAP Java Connector consists basically of two parts:
a sapjco3.jar file, for the java binding (platform independent).
a native library (an .so-file or .dll-file) for the platform specific binding.
To make your application work, just assure that both files are in the PATH (or CLASSPATH) of your app, and you're done.
If you're under Windows, copying the .dll file to \Windows\System32 will work, but a puppy dies every time you do so. If you love puppies, don't do that. Ever.
Better yet, it would be to always read the documentation. This is really a very good practice. The docs for SAP Java Connector 3.0 clearly states the following:
SAP Java Connector 3.0 :: Installation
...
Microsoft Windows
...
Note: Do not copy the sapjco3.dll neither into the {windows-dir}\system32 nor into the {windows-dir}\SysWOW64 directory. This will break the operability of other JCo versions that are already installed on the same system. Furthermore you would risk that the current installation also would not work anymore, if the sapjco3.dll gets replaced in the respective Windows system directory in the future.
Then add {sapjco3-path} to the PATH environment variable.
Finally, add {sapjco3-path}\sapjco3.jar to your CLASSPATH environment variable.
...
This means SAP developers love puppies.
When i'm trying to load the .so file from the Java, i'm getting error like this.

I have tried System.load(absoulte path) and System.loadLibrary(sofilename). Both are giving the same error. When i copy this so file into usr/lib/jvm package, it is working..
can anyone help how to get this solved using Java. i'm running on linux box.
It's possible that the library is on your path, but it can't be loaded for some other reason.
A trick I've used to debug problems like this is to run java -Xrunsofilename
-Xrun is the JVM option to load JVMPI libraries (the old profiling interface). If it succeeds, it will load the library and complain that it's not an agent library. But if it fails (hopefully!) it will print an error message. This is usually a more descriptive error message than what you get from the UnsatisfiedLinkError.
In Eclipse I get this eror:
Exception in thread "main"
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError:
com.nokia.mid.impl.isa.util.SharedObjects.nativeSetTable(Ljava/util/Hashtable;)Ljava/util/Hashtable;
I can see SharedObjects, but nativeSetTable doesn't seem to be a method. It might however be hidden -> I don't have access to the source code.
This was my code:
connection = (HttpConnection)Connector.open(this.url);
This is the trace:

I think that nativeSetTable() is protected or private, that's why you don't see it. And moreover nativeSetTable() is a native method, which means that it is based on native code (already compiled for a specific processor and available in a specific lib [ie. a DLL]).
UnsatisfiedLinkError means that this particular method couldn't be retrieved and executed properly.
Thrown if the Java Virtual Machine cannot find an appropriate native-language definition of a method declared native.
This means that your Java ME emulator must have missing librairies. You should try to reinstall it.

I guess you are coupling your source code with the wrong version of the nokia mid library.
It could be that your runtime classpath is using a different version of the jar where SharedObjects lives, when compared to your compile-time classpath in Eclipse. I would double-check your classpath settings.
Ok, I found one reason:
I created a test class in java to test my code, just a plain java file (with main method). And I ran it as a plain java application. Then, it doesn't work. But after I tried it in a Midlet, I didn't get the error!
