Maven resources not getting copied in jar file - java

My maven project has a parent POM as well as three children POM.
My parent POM looks like this
<project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0 http://maven.apache.org/xsd/maven-4.0.0.xsd">
<modelVersion>4.0.0</modelVersion>
<groupId>groupID</groupId>
<artifactId>artifacct</artifactId>
<version>1.0-SNAPSHOT</version>
<modules>
<module>module1</module>
<module>module2</module>
<module>module3</module>
</modules>
<packaging>pom</packaging>
<name>name</name>
<url>http://maven.apache.org</url>
<properties>
<project.build.sourceEncoding>UTF-8</project.build.sourceEncoding>
</properties>
<repositories>
<repository>
<id>clojars.org</id>
<url>http://clojars.org/repo</url>
</repository>
</repositories>
<build>
<resources>
<resource>
<directory>src/main/resources</directory>
</resource>
</resources>
<plugins>
<plugin>
<groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
<artifactId>maven-compiler-plugin</artifactId>
<version>3.0</version>
<configuration>
<source>1.7</source>
<target>1.7</target>
</configuration>
</plugin>
<plugin>
<artifactId>maven-assembly-plugin</artifactId>
<configuration>
<descriptorRefs>
<descriptorRef>jar-with-dependencies</descriptorRef>
</descriptorRefs>
<finalName>finalName</finalName>
</configuration>
</plugin>
</plugins>
</build>
But the problem is my resources are not getting added to the jar file. What could be the possible problem with this ?

do you use maven-dependency-plugin ?
something like this
<plugin>
<groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
<artifactId>maven-dependency-plugin</artifactId>
<version>2.8</version>
<executions>
<execution>
<id>copy-dependencies</id>
<phase>prepare-package</phase>
<goals>
<goal>copy-dependencies</goal>
</goals>
<configuration>
<outputDirectory>${project.build.directory}/lib</outputDirectory>
<overWriteReleases>false</overWriteReleases>
<overWriteSnapshots>false</overWriteSnapshots>
<overWriteIfNewer>true</overWriteIfNewer>
</configuration>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>
and package you jar like this
<plugin>
<groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
<artifactId>maven-jar-plugin</artifactId>
<version>2.4</version>
<configuration>
<archive>
<manifest>
<addClasspath>true</addClasspath>
<classpathPrefix>lib/</classpathPrefix>
<mainClass>package.class.your.MainClass</mainClass>
</manifest>
</archive>
</configuration>
</plugin>

Failed to execute goal org.codehaus.mojo:exec-maven-plugin:3.0.0:java

I used 'mvn install' and 'mvn exec:java' to start my project, but the error occurred as the title. What exact 'Mainclass' should I set to 'mojo:exec-maven-plugin'? I tried to delete full m2.repository but it didn't work for me. I also tried to add some code to set the plugin but I don't know what mainclass should I set. Could anyone give me some advise?
my pom file shows below:

Java getClass().getClassLoader().getResource(path) fails inside Maven shaded .jar

When running my project directly with java, I can confirm that a particular method is able to fetch a resource via getClass().getClassLoader().getResource(path), where path is docs/info.md and there exists a file at src/main/resources/docs/info.md
After the project is packaged with Maven into the final executable .jar, I can confirm that the path docs/info.md has been included via jar tf myproject.jar
However, when that .jar is executed, the same getClass().getClassLoader().getResource(path) returns null.
Here's myproject.pom:

Use getResourceAsStream instead of getResource. getResource returns the URL of file, not the file itself. Then write the InputStream to a file, and use that file.
ClassLoader classLoader = getClass().getClassLoader();
if (classLoader.getResourceAsStream(filePath) == null) {
// throw error
}
InputStream inputStream = classLoader.getResourceAsStream(filePath);
// write input stream to a file
I faced the same issue. This might help: Get directory path of maven plugin in its own Mojo

Combine java code and dependencies into one jar (executable jar) using maven

I'm trying to compile my src into one jar file with Netbeans. I currently compile via the right click Build with Dependecies. Here is my pom file
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0 http://maven.apache.org/xsd/maven-4.0.0.xsd">

<artifactId>metadata-extractor</artifactId>

<maven.compiler.target>1.8</maven.compiler.target>
</properties>
<build>

<configuration>

</configuration>
</plugin>
<plugin>

<artifactId>maven-assembly-plugin</artifactId>

</execution>
</executions>
</configuration>
</plugin>
</plugins>
</build>
</project>
When I execute the output jar file it can't find the com.github.scribejava and com.drewnoakes libraries. Also if I don't use the maven-jar-plugin the main class doesnt get added to the meta-inf/manifest.mf. What exactly am I doing wrong?
Put the execution tag outside configuration tag for maven-assembly-plugin, like below:
<plugin>
<groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
<artifactId>maven-assembly-plugin</artifactId>
<version>2.6</version>
<configuration>
<archive>
<manifest>
<mainClass>ca.osmcanada.osvuploadr.JFMain</mainClass>
</manifest>
</archive>
<descriptorRefs>
<descriptorRef>jar-with-dependencies</descriptorRef>
</descriptorRefs>
</configuration>
<executions>
<execution>
<id>make-assembly</id>
<phase>package</phase>
<goals>
<goal>single</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>

I get a correct jar with my dependencies but i dont get an exe file. Is there something else to do? Is an descriptor.xml really necessary?
Though I did not check your pom properly. As it is producing correct jar, I think it is fine.
Did you try mvn package ?
