overlap cardview over image

I am new to android programming and I am trying to slide my view over image.This is my code(Not sure if this is the right way)

I want to scroll my cardview over image keeping image fixed.something like eclipsing the image.
and after scrolling completely the image should get hidden.(I dont want it to flow under toolbar)

Try to place your CardView into ScrollView and add CardView's marginTop which equals to your Image's height.

Android app relative layout with 2-3 elements and a bottom button

I want to design an android activity with a relative layout. There should be 3 (or later 4) elements in a vertical line among each other. I've tried it, but the textview is hidden behind the listview.
What's wrong with the code, how should I change it and how should it look, if I want to insert a fourth element between the text and listview or the listview and button ... like a image.

Try changing ReltiveLayout to LinearLayoutor put LinearLayout outside your RelativeLayout, whith orientation="vertical" an put the TextView outside RelativeLayout. Something like this:

MarginLeft doesn't work: Why?

i have this layout

I would like to know why on some phones or versions of Android (2.3 Gingerbread mainly) the margins are pratically 0, in the sense that it is not detached from the left margin but it is attached, as if there were no android:layout_marginLeft="13dp"

Try to add android:layout_gravity="left" to your textView. Value of layout_gravity can be any of valid list.

Try the following in your xml .I have added android:layout_gravity="left"

Center vertically listview

I have a listview and a layout that is displayed in this way:
I wish that the items were also centered vertically. How can I do? this is the code

You have to create your own layout for your listview item. Soemthing
like this
<LinearLayout
android:orientation="vertical"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:gravity="center" >
<TextView
android:id="#id/textItem"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" />
</LinearLayout>
Then, in your code, your going to have to do this
new ArrayAdapter(this, R.layout.yourRowItemLayoutHere,
R.id.textItem, functions);

Bring content of FrameLayout to front

I have this activity layout where I have a header (RelativeLayout), content (FrameLayout) and a footer (RelativeLayout) all inside a LinearLayout (please refer to the attached screenshot below) :
The problem is that sometimes when content (which is actually a Fragment) is large enough, it gets clipped by the footer (e.g. in the attached image one can see that some button are being clipped). I have tried setting the background of footer layout to transparent (via xml and via code as well), calling the FrameLayout.bringToFront() method but nothing seems to work!
