What is the equivalent Java code of this MATLAB code: ran = sign(rand-0.5)?
Is it randomly assigned either 1 or -1 to ran? Should I used a Pseudo random number generator that generates randomly 1 or -1?
Random rand = new Random(key);
ran = rand.nextInt(1);
double ran = Math.signum(Math.random() - 0.5);
The variable ran will contain +1, -1 or sometimes 0.

Why it's showing error, when I enter just 5 digit number in long data type?
Numbers starting with 0 are interpreted as octal numbers in Java, that are 8-based numbers. A 9 or 8 cannot appear in octal number, thus the warning.

Write a Java program that keeps a number from the user and generates an integer between 1
and 7 and displays the name of the weekday.
Create a Strint array with all weekdays ({"Sunday", "Monday"...}) and than get the name by index like this:
int day = 2;
System.out.println(weekdays[day - 1]);//output Monday

If A is an array of type int, what command would you use to put the value 50 in the first position of the array
A[0] = 50;
This will store 50 in the first element of A.
A[0] = 50; This assign first element to 50.
There is a lot of resource about java array online, i think all the basic tutorial would cover about this.

I am solving a problem for which i require to know the number of 1 bit's in a BigInteger.
Thanks in advance.
You can use .bitCount() on the BigInteger. Unless you need to solve it manually, in which case you can use normal Java bitwise operations.
Do x-or with 0. By this you will get the bits set as 1 wherever there was 1 in your original input. Then you can count the number of bits set in the output.

it is possible to assign that big number in java? i need to make a calculation of 39 digits value. could any help? Thanks
Problem:
Consider the following composite number:
340282367237851113557325445936183246849
Write a Java method to find two numbers whose product is the above number.
I guess you need to check out the BigInteger of the java API. That might be able to store your results of those much big numbers. Read the documentation,
http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/api/java/math/BigInteger.html
