Trying to setup a cucumber-project in eclipse without using Maven - java

I am new to cucumber, I am trying to configure a Java-project without using Maven, I am having the following exception. I think there is an issue with the path of a .feature file

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: cucumber/io/ResourceLoader
this exception means that the class cucumber.io.ResourceLoader is not found in the classpath of your Project. Try to add the cucumber-core.jar to the classpath of your project following this eclipse documentation.

It would help if you could let us know what libraries you referenced in your project. cucumber-core is referenced by cucumber-java. So if you have cucumber-java, you don't need to have cucumber-core in your class path. Looking at your code, I notice you use #Cucumber.Options. This is deprecated in the latest release, so looks like you are not using latest release. Try using cucumber 1.1.5 jars.
Also any reason why aren't you using maven? Maven is supposed to make these things easier.

Jmockit code coverage and static initialization

We are developing unit test for a Java App that depends on an external jar. We use JMockit, and the unit test can run successfully. Then we enable JMockit code coverage. Then the Jmockit code coverage code somehow calls into the static initialization code of a class in the external jar. Since that class is not supposed to run in a test env, this causes an exception. Note that
1. The unit test can run successfully if code coverage is not enabled
2. The stack trace shows nothing of the class we are testing, it comes from the JMockit code (mockit.coverage.CodeCoverage.transform) to the static initialization of the third party class.
3. This is an external class in a jar, jmockit is not supposed to do code coverage about it according to the document, right? Does mockit.coverage.modification.ClassModification.modifyClassForCoverage mean instrumenting the code?
4. We tried -Djmockit-codecoverage-excludes flag, and it did not help.
Is this a bug of JMockit code coverage?

How would i run test case in Intellij. I included the junit4.11 jar file to my module
Did you include the hamcrest-core-1.3.jar file in your classpath? If not included means include that jar and try once again.
add junit.jar to your project dependence.
you may also need to add hamcrest.jar in addition.
Open File->Project Structure,Click Modules->Dependences,add junit.jar.
Latest version of hamcrest-all is available at:
https://search.maven.org/search?q=a:hamcrest-all
Download this version (as opposed to the hamcrest-core) and that should do it.
If you come across this (and a few other threads) on this error and adding the jar to dependencies doesn't work, you will need to add to the general java classpath.
I encountered this error in OSX where maven would download the dependency, but not find it when in fork mode.
Adding all the hamcrest jars to Library/Java/Extensions finally fixed the problem when nothing else would.

I googled for com/google/inject/internal/util/$Preconditions, and came to know that it is part of guice-3.0.jar.
But guice-3.0.jar is already there in my project.
How to debug then? any help..???
I suggest printing out what's on your classpath from within your app (see this answer). That way you'll know exactly what classpath your app is using, if there's anything missing or any collisions.
Problem is solved now.
It was a mistake between guice 3.0 and guice-3.0.0, because both are having the same maven artifact-id but group-id was different.
Open the property of your project and add a dependency library.

ClassNotFoundException in java?

I am trying to run example from this particular site:

Now from the pom in this file, I can see that simple json is included but I am not sure why is it throwing this issue.?
I would say that the problem is that when run under map-reduce the jar you need is not in scope (i.e. not found). One way to fix that is to create a jar with all the dependencies and submit that as the job. Other options are to make sure it is available in each node and deploying the depdndecies to Hadoops' distribtued cache (but the first is the simplest - though it makes for slower job starts since the jar is bigger)

I tried to claen and build the project many a times but still same error!
I tried all the options from JUNIT Test class in Eclipse - java.lang.ClassNotFoundException, but none worked for me!
If that happens when you moved your project from one IDE/OS to another, just try to remove the JUnit3 library and add it again. Sometimes that fails when you bring your proyect from outside. I was stuck getting the same error until I did that.
