Unable to Start Talend Tool JAVA Version incompatibility

My Talend tool version is 5.6. As mentioned in Talend documentation it needs Java Runtime Environment 7 i.e jdk1.7, which is installed - along with set java_home in my environment variables. As per me it should work.
However I have jdk1.8 installed too, but I'm correctly pointing jdk1.7 path at environment variable.
Alternatively I have tried giving jdk1.7 path in Talend's Talend-Studio-win-x86_64.ini file. It's still giving me error.
Below is snapshot: in cmd the installed version shows jdk1.8 where in echo %JAVA_HOME% it shows path of jdk1.7
While starting tool this error comes:

Create a batch file with the following command:
Talend-Studio-win-x86_64.exe -vm "[jdk path]\bin"
Then start the studio by executing this batch.

Talend is based on eclipse, so you can set the java vm to use in the ini-file. (Sorry, I don't have an installation here right now, I think it is called talend.ini - nevertheless, it is located in talend's installation folder.)
Add the following to the top of the file:
-vm
[path to your java 7]/bin/javaw.exe

try to make changes in TOS_DI-win-x86_64.ini file
add line
-vm
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-11.0.14\bin\javaw.exe
And update or confirm the version as below.
-Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=11.0.14

Suppose you have talend in c:\talend and jdk1.7 is in C:\jdk1.7.
You can do like the following in windows environment.
Open command prompt.
Goto the bin folder location where jdk 1.7 is located. For example if you have jdk in C:\jdk1.7 then
cd\
cd C:\jdk1.7\bin
Then from bin folder of jdk type the full uri of the executable and hit enter.
In the above supposition c:\jdk1.7\bin>c:\talend\tos_di-xxxxx.exe
In the above statement tos_di-xxxxx.exe is the executable file depending on the os environment

I still see Java 1.8 when I am doing java -version after downgrading to 1.7

I downgraded java 1.7 from 1.8, but I still see 1.8 when I do java -version. I changed the path and also made JAVA_HOME changed for 1.7 as
JAVA_HOME: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.7.0_79
PATH: C:\Program Files(x86)\Java\jdk1.7.0_79\bin
For some reason I also have this in my path: C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath, which I believe keeps this 1.8 version. When I take off this from the path, I get this message: C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\lib\amd64\jvm.cfg. I don't know what's going on. Any suggestion would be very helpful.

TRY DOING THE FOLLOWING:
Type "regedit" from startup menu. Take a back up if you are a novice.
Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->JavaSoft->Java Runtime Environment"
Double click on "CurrentVersion" on the right side of the panel
Change version to "1.7".
If you have "C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath" in your path variable . Then open the location and make sure the java.exe file points to respective 1.7 directory.

If you have "C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath" in your path variable, bring your JAVA_HOME/bin path before it.
Ex: C:\Program Files(x86)\Java\jdk1.7.0_79\bin;C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath.
I faced the similar issue and was not able to downgrade the java version from 1.8 to 1.7.

close your MS-DOS and open a new MS-DOS window. try again.

Multiple java versions installed and java was started but returned exit code=13

I am not able to start eclipse on Windows 7. It was working fine yesterday. Here is the screenshot of error when I start eclipse:

Why it gives different versions for java and javac?
My java home is set to Jdk 7 as below:
JAVA_HOME = C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_60
Note: I have jdk 8 installed on my machine but I have not set jdk 8 path.
This question has been asked couple of times but I am not able to resolve it on my machine so please do not mark it as duplicate.

In the environment variables check your path whether it is starts with C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath
if yes then please remove it and try again

More than likely you've installed JDK 1.70_60 prior to installing JRE 1.8.0_51.
This would mean that your compiler javac is found within the JDK distribution (Java Development Kit) and your java runtime is found within the more recently downloaded JRE (Java Runtime Environment). JRE does not contain the javac (Java compiler).

I was recently facing the same issue, Java 8 installer prepends to the Windows PATH variable C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath that is why you are seeing different versions for java and javac

Your eclipse might not be pointing to the right JDK.
Open your eclipse.ini configuration file for editing. This can be found in the same folder with eclipse.exe file.
replace:
-vm C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath\javaw.exe
with:
-vm
C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.7.0_60/bin/javaw.exe
Then, restart eclipse.

Error during Maven execution

I'm trying to run the maven and returns me the error:
/opt/apache-maven-3.3.3/bin/mvn: 227: exec: /opt/jdk1.7.0_79/bin/java: not found
What can it be?

run the command echo $JAVA_HOME and see where the java home is set and verify if the path is correct. Then check if $JAVA_HOME\bin\ folder is there and check for java command in it.

I just was experiencing this same problem, and about 4 hours later I figured it out. I had installed the wrong version of the java JDK. I originally installed the Linux x-86 version, but my computer settings required the x-64 version. Make sure you have the version of the Java JDK that is compatible with your system. Error in setting JAVA_HOME

I have recently downloaded Maven and followed the instructions given on this this page. I already have ant installed on my machine.
Now, if I want to verify that Maven is installed perfectly or not it is giving me error that JAVA_HOME is not set correctly, but same works perfectly fine for ANT.
For Maven I tried :
1. open cmd
2. type mvn -version
3. Error appeared :
C:\Users\Admin>mvn -version
ERROR: JAVA_HOME is set to an invalid directory.
JAVA_HOME = "C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin"
Please set the JAVA_HOME variable in your environment to match the
location of your Java installation
For ANT I tried and worked :
1. open cmd
2. type mvn -version
3. Apache Ant(TM) version 1.9.1 compiled on May 15 2013
I went to the directory to check that java.exe is actually there in that directory or not and it was there. I checked the environment variables they set fine. I restarted the system and checked again but same problem. Please let me know what am I missing.

JAVA_HOME should point to jdk directory and not to jre directory. Also JAVA_HOME should point to the home jdk directory and not to jdk/bin directory.
Assuming that you have JDK installed in your program files directory then you need to set the JAVA_HOME like this:
JAVA_HOME="C:\Program Files\Java\jdkxxx"
xxx is the jdk version

Do not include bin in your JAVA_HOME env variable

Follow the instruction in here.
JAVA_HOMEshould be like this
JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_07

JAVA_HOME = C:\Program Files\Java\jdk(JDK version number)
Example: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-10
And then restart you command prompt it works.

Just remember to add quotes into the path if you have a space in your path to java home.
C:\Program Files\java\javaxxx\ doesn't work
but
"C:\Program Files\java\javaxxx\" does.

The JAVA_HOME should point to the JDK home rather than the JRE home if you are going to be compiling stuff, likewise - I would try and install the JDK in a directory that doesn't include a space. Even if this is not your problem now, it can cause problems in the future!

You are pointing your JAVA_HOME to the JRE which is the Java Runtime Environment. The runtime environment doesn't have a java compiler in its bin folder.
You should download the JDK which is the Java Development Kit. Once you've installed that, you can see in your bin folder that there's a file called javac.exe. That's your compiler.

JAVA_HOME should point to jdk directory like in the image with new variable, like below
PATH should point to jdk bin like below

Run the below command in your terminal and restart it.
> set JAVA_HOME="C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-xx.xx"
xx.xx is the java version
