component-scan base-package not picking up Component/Repository results in Dependency Injection issue

I have the following xml file

When I run my Spring MVC project I get an error message related that the dependency injection.
Here is my Controller:

I believe my issue is that my xml file is not picking up the component in the repository. Why I believe this is if I add configuration and compenentScan to my DAO there is not issue regarding dependency injection.

I've tried adding the following to the xml <context:component-scan base-package="com.dao.implementation" /> which has not worked. I've also tried numerous different way of configuring the xml file. Can anyone explain why it is not been picked up by xml but is been picked up by java configuration?

JUnit Spring 4 MVC Integration Test Failing with BeanCreationException: Error creating bean

I'm running a junit test that is failing. The controller scenario I'm trying to do a junit test of is passing so I'm unsure why my junit test cannot find the beans. I've also added a junit test to verify the xml file exists which passes when I remove the productService, so I don't believe it is an issue with finding the xml file.
Below is my junit test:

I had to put
#ImportResource("classpath:/FileStorageContext.xml") before my Main class, the problem was that this file wasn't seen.

This line causes your exception:
#Autowired
private String path;
Autowiring works only on Spring managed beans and String should not be considered as one (IMO).
You may use #Value annotation if you want to get the value of path from your context. Or if you want to use as is, you can try #Qualifier("path") annotation along with #Autowired.

You are doing 2 different things by annotation and in code. By annotation, you search for class matching interface and qualifier. In code, you match using unique bean name.

This error is very clear: you have declared no bean of type javax.validation.Validator with qualifier "validator". You should do that like that:

This is not an issue. You are referring to test-applicationContext.xml in your classpath.

Put your "test class" DeviceControllerTest into package, for example org.example.controller, with will be located in /src/test/java. In your folder /src/test/resources create package with same name, it mean org.example.controller and put there DeviceControllerTest-context.xml

This structure is more "nicer", because you always know with context used for some specific "test" and your do not need to set location of your test class context inside "test class".
