Press a Button just one time - java

I'm trying to press the first button just one time. This button usually return a random card but I want it just one time. Then the button should be inactive. How can I do that?

you can disable your button with (place it inside your onClick)
background.setEnabled(false);
and you also might initialize your button to true in onCreate method

If the player has an action to do next, the simpler way is to deactivate the button when is pressed first time and after in the next action activated again.
You can do this adding
background.setEnabled(false);
in your anonymous class listener and after add
background.setEnabled(true);
in player's next action.

Using setOnLongClickListener to setText on multiples of buttons

I am trying to change the text on a button after setOnLongClickListener amd there are six buttons to choose from. Currently, regardless of which button I click, the list button is updated with the new text.
I think I have tried everything on this thread:
setonlongclicklistener for several buttons at once
Eventually i hope to save these new button values to shared preferences so they are there when the app is next started.

What's happening is the btn variable is getting reassigned each iteration of your loop. Therefore once the long click listener fires, you are calling showAddItemDialog(this, btn) where btn is holding a reference to whatever it was set to in the last loop iteration (when i = 6).
So the behaviour you're experiencing makes sense. Hopefully this is enough to point you in the right direction.
As a side note, finding views based on dynamic ids that come from r.getIdentifier() might be a bit of a bad design choice and could open up bugs in the future. I would recommend simplifying it to just use R.id.button1, R.id.button2 etc. if possible.

changing text on textview with button's onClickListener

Hi I'm working at my first bigger app in android studio "FlashCards". I would like it to work so after you click on the button the flashcard's textview changes its text to next random flashcard untill you see all of the them how can i do something like 'continue' to my loop from inside onClick method.

First, this way, you have a potential infinite loop. And if it can happens, it will happens! It's not a good idea to "get random item and check if it's ok or try again".
I think that it's better to keep a list with all items in a random order. You just have to iterate over it.
Something like:

Waiting One Second for a button click, if button not clicked call function

I am creating an android application and have run into a problem.
There is 12 buttons. A button is to change color and then the user has one second to click the button, otherwise the button changes back to the original color and a different button changes color.
I would like to repeat this until the user misses a certain amount of button clicks.
I have discovered how to do the changing in colors, however I am not sure how to do an infinite loop in android or how to wait for one second.

You can implement a timer by posting a Runnable object to run on a Handler with a specified delay. If you don't stop it from running, then the Runnable executes. However, you can also stop it from running before that:

You are expecting that modifying the value of the variable contador would result in the array item to change.
Keep in mind that in the code line d1.setImageResource(listaImagenes.get(contador));, the get function receives an int. So at the time where it's called it receives a value, not a reference to an Integer. When you change the value of contador, the value that was used to obtain the index in the array is not changed.
And even if the value did change, d1 would still be using the same resource.
What you need to do in the onClickListener is add the code to set the image. Something along the lines of

The while loop is not needed. What your code is doing is setting the image to the 3 items of the array, one after the other, and adding a new click listener 3 times.
I will try to answer and point some of the flaws you have in the code.
wat if there were 100 drawable like R01 ,R02...? Instead you can use getting drawable using string.
why are you using while loop ? since you have the counter you can directly use that.

How to reset class variable to default value 0?

If anybody can tell me different way to do this, I would appreciate. How to reset class variable to 0, or default value? I use class variable cause I don't know another way to do this. After my game ends I place result in class variable, cause I have two rounds of my game, and after first round ends I add the result, and class variable is good for this cause even after I restart my game method it still holds my previous result. After second round is over I add that result to previous result and then close the activity and set text result as text to a button. But when I click New game, that button still holds that text, cause class variable still holds it. How to reset that class variable when I go on New game?
