However, when I start my tomcat , it cannot find the class definition of HelloWorldController. Can someone spot the mistake? This is the exception I get

SEVERE: Servlet /SpringMVC threw load() exception

at org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.loadClass(WebappClassLoader.java:1714)
at org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.loadClass(WebappClassLoader.java:1559)
I have spent a lot of time debugging this. Please help!
The Bean class name it is trying to load is
com.myorg.springmvctutorial.web.controller.HelloWorldController
Which matches the fully qualified name of your controller class:
com.myorg.springmvctutorial.web.controller.HelloWorldController
Yet the JVM cannot load it. That most likely means that the ".class" file is not in the correct place in the webapp for the classloader to find. And then I see this:
WEB-INF/classes/com/myorg/springmvctutorial/web/controller/HelloWorldController.java
That's a ".java" file not a ".class" file. (What?!?)
So I suspect that the problem is that you've put the source code instead of the compiled code into your webapp. A mistake like that would certainly explain the symptoms ...

I have searched different solutions that more or less give the following solutions:
Download Jersey Servlet Jar and add to WEB-INF/lib folder
Add Jars to build path
Add jars in Jersey servlet /ext folder to tomcat/lib folder.
I've tried all three of these solutions but It hasn't resolved my issue.

I've tried all the solutions I could find online, any hint or suggestion will be highly appreciated, thanks!
I had a java web app which was working fine on the AWS server. However, after some time and perhaps some slight changes, which I can't remember, I am getting 404 error.
I have tried to reboot the server, restart the tomcat re-deploy the app.
Nothing works, I have also set public RWX permission.
The Tomcat version is 7, Java as well. It all came in an AMI package by AWS.
I am getting the same result when I try to go: /manager/index.jsp
Any idea? Is there more information I can provide?

Maybe the solution would be to reinstall the Tomcat, but is there a way just to get a fresh installation of it from AWS? Or some rollback?

I have changed a port from 8009 to 8089 in the server.xml configuration file.
I was able to get rid of the above error in catalina.out however, the issue with the 404 still persists.
Now I was able to get to the Tomcat manager and also log in. However, my app still shows 404.
So I'm getting this error when starting my tomcat:

I seem to getting a java.lang.ClassNotFoundException thrown when deploying my portlet war to the Liferay server, this also happens running the server inside eclipse (Indigo). I made sure my jersey service worked on Tomcat 7.1 before converting it to Liferay portlet. Thanks.

Problem was that I was deploying a Liferay portlet built using the Liferay plugin that I had converted to a Maven project and the plugin deployment wasn't picking up the Maven dependencies.
