Eclipse does not work after update through Android SDK Manager - java

I have just updated my eclipse through Android SDK Manager, my eclipse pop out and error about the Android SDK.
This Android SDK requires Android Developer Toolkit version 23.0.0 or above.
Current version is 22.6.2.v201403212031-1085508
When I pressed the button "Check for Updates", the result from eclipse is "No Updates were found."
I am sure that my Android SDK should be 23.0.0 above.
All my project listed in the left corner of above picture contains errors.
I have studied this thread and I found that the "Java build path" was "Unable to get system liberary for the project"
The project was not built since its build path is incomplete
Whenever I tried to add the JRE System Library, it failed beacause of "Could not write file: C:\Users\Admin\workspace\ICEAPP(20140819_uc).classpath."
Can anyone give me so help?

Update the ADT-Plugin in eclipse (Help > Check for updates)

You have to remove the whole installation and reinstall everything again. This update seems to fail always. But reinstall works for all of this issues. With the new version 23. It seems there is a big compatibillity problem unsolved yet.
Check for updated fails but eclipse say it need one update. Also SDK Manager seems to be up to date.
Anyway, even if you get ot working, there still are problems for example with implementation of google play service.
Had a lot of issues by myself and others to, but reinstall solved it

Gradle Project Sync Failed - Android Studio 3.5.1

I should preface this by saying that I don't know much about programming or android app development at all. I am trying to get a program running to control my pool cover automatically. This program is fairly old, which I imagine is the reason for the issues. I have been following this guide to sign and bundle the APK. As soon as I clone the project from github, I am greeted with this:
ERROR: Could not determine the class-path for class com.android.tools.idea.gradle.project.sync.ng.SyncAction.
In addition to this, the "Generate Signed Bundle / APK button" is not available.
From what I can gather, this program uses Gradle 1.10.
Here is the complete output log that I got from android studio
I might have found a solution for your problem but being a project as old as this, you can have problems with library usages.
The reason you're seeing this error is, using info from this answer, because this project was written in Eclipse IDE. The answer says:
when Eclipse export a project to gradle, it use an old gradle plugin version that Android Studio doesn't support.
Following his instructions I changed my Gradle version to 2.3, but Android Studio showed some more errors asking me to upgrade my version to 3.3, as showed here in Project Structure (You can easily access this using Ctrl + Alt + Shift + S).
Notice that Android Studio also asked me to set my gradle plugin version to 2.3 on another error, that I did. You should be aware that I had to change my distributionUrl in gradle-wrapper.properties file, as you can see here
Lastly Android Studio demanded me to change buildToolsVersion because it couldn't make my app with original config. Also what gave me the most trouble was the runProgruard function that Studio said didn't exist. I found the solution in this answer. My app build.gradle ended like this.
PS: At EVERY step of changing this configurations I had to go to menu build->rebuild project and then use the gradle button "try again". Sometimes it might seems it is not working, but with patience you will get there.

How do I setup the Facebook SDK in Android Studio 1.0.0? Getting SDK Location not found error

I tried importing the sample, but I got an error saying
"Error:(1, 0) SDK location not found. Define location with sdk.dir in the local.properties file or with an ANDROID_HOME environment variable."
I then tried importing the Facebook SDK module into a blank activity. I can't seem to get it working. If not the error above, it has a strange gradle error. I spent hours trying to fix it, but no luck.
Please note that I'm very new to Android and I'm not even sure how to handle the gradle things. Any advice would be helpful.
Android studio is not very fast in my opinion. Im using Eclipse which is better i think. I never did use android studio much but lets see if this works it is used in Eclipse.
Right click on your libs. Add the facebook sdk. Right click on the facebook sdk. Then build path. Im not sure if this qill work for Android atudio since its made by the same company who made IntelliJ. JetBrains.

eclipse error with plugins after update

I encountered a problem with
This version of the rendering library is more recent than your version of ADT plug-in.
Please update ADT plug-in
i tried this as learned from: Eclipse reports rendering library more recent than ADT plug-in
1. Click Help > Install New Software.
2. In the Work with field, enter: https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/
3. Select Developer Tools / Android Development Tools.
4. Click Next and complete the wizard.
new problem:
An error has occurred. See error log for more details.java.lang.NullPointerException
i tried this on windows cmd ( again through some stackoverflow forums):
eclipse -clean -clearPersistedState
But i have not got any solution
This is new message:
An error has occurred. See error log for more details.com/android/utils/SparseArray
Error log has a lot of messages like:
Problems occurred when invoking code from plug-in: "org.eclipse.ui.workbench".
It shows whenever i try to open any layout xml file
after reverting ( as suggested by aumand) i am back on my first problem again with this msg on graphical layout of xml files ( i dont remember the exact words, but i think issue is something like >>>library i am using is 4.1.2 and the taget has loaded 4.4)
This version of the rendering library is more recent than your version of ADT plug-in. Please update ADT plug-in.
Plz help guyz..
Update your DDMS and ADT to latest version form Help>Check For Updates. this solved my problem!
Download and install the Eclipse/ADT bundle from google. Eclipse won't need any updates, and you will only need to run the SDK manager to check for a few updates and install any previous versions you want.
I did this after my initial Eclipse install, with ADT added later, decided it didn't want to run any more (crash on startup). The package works better than the previous stuff, even though they were both up to date.
You can also copy anything from your previous sdk folder to the new one, so you don't have to install it again.
Download Eclipse ADT Bundle its best , go here and download it http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html and you can run sdk manager to check for any kind of updates.

Eclipse Incorrectly Claiming I have old Rev of Android SDK

Just to preface this I have searched high and low on the internet trying to find an answer to this problem and have yet to find one, there have been people with similar problems as me but not quite the same.
I have been trying to set up Eclipse with the Android SDK. I installed Eclipse (Classic) first and edited the .ini file to find the correct javaw.exe file. I tested eclipse and it was working fine. Then I downloaded the android sdk bundle extracted it and used the SDK manager to download the necessary SDK tools (Rev. 21) and the Android 2.33 API. After finishing that, I went back into Eclipse, clicked "Install New Software" and in the "Work With" field typed
"https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/". From there I installed the Developer Tools and NDK plugins and then when finished restarted Eclipse.
Now when I start Eclipse I get the following error
"This version of ADT requires Android SDK Tools revision 21.0.0 rc9 or above.
Current version is 11.0.0
Please update your SDK Tools to latest version"
I know for a fact I have rev 21, it said it when I downloaded it and when I try to go in and update anything whether it be through Eclipse or through the manager it says there are no updates available. I know I have the latest of both the SDK and ADT and I have also tried using the version of eclipse that came with the sdk but that gives me the same issue.
The only other things which seem to set off red flags to me are
1. When the program loads it shows the following message in the console
"[2012-12-01 18:31:48 - Dex Loader] SecurityException: Unable to find field for dex.jar"
2. When I try and open the SDK manager through eclipse it never opens and the console displays the following message
"[2012-12-01 18:37:07 - SDK Manager] [SDK Manager] Error: Expected verb after global parameters but found 'sdk' instead."
I don't know if either of those two have anything to do with what is causing this issue but I hope someone knows what is going on. If someone could help me figure this out I would greatly appreciate it, thank you in advance.
(For reference sake, I have been following the instalation instructions in this tutorial
http://youtu.be/31cxmLN09ss)
When in the SDK Package Manager, try choosing Packages menu -> Reload. Then you should see Android SDK Tools rev21 available and ready to be updated.
i had the same problem. it occurred because once when I was trying to install the adt plugin few months earlier, the location had been saved. I oversaw the old folder location, mistook it for the current updated one and bam! that was all the reason. try to check back the location for tools folder specified.
As follow up to my previous suggestion, better solution is to modify your sdk location in Windows->Preferences->Android to where you install your ADT bundle. For example, if you install your ADT Bundle under C:\Tools\adt-bundle-windows-x86-20130219, enter C:\Tools\adt-bundle-windows-x86-20130219\sdk.
Doing this also fixes other issue with "Android SDK Manager" not launching from within Eclipse discussed on another thread.
I resolved the issue with Eclipse reporting that I have an older sdk even though I have the latest installed by copying the correct sdk version under "C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk". First save existing "C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\sdk" to say "C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\sdk_old", in case you need to revert.
This (above) is sound advice: however I went in eclipse and redefined the android sdk location which apparently was on a different android folder for whatever reason which had outdated files in it and I believe now the situation is fixed I tried it and it worked for me too. Thanks.

Android: main.xml error

I'm getting an error when I open my main.xml, I'm not seeing the UI of my app:
Eclipse is loading framework information and the layout library from the SDK folder.
main.xml will refresh automatically once the process is finished.
Do you have fix on it? I tried googling it but nothing worked for me.
It seems yet another Eclipse quirk. There's a solution here:
http://twigstechtips.blogspot.com/2011/02/eclipse-android-development-is-loading.html
And another alternative here:
http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/thread/065b4e55f0189873
This is caused when you have old jar files in your sdk directory! look here
http://androidbook.blogspot.com/2009/07/when-eclipse-loading-framework.html
if it doesnt solve the issue maybe you can try changing the target to another version of the SDK eg. 2.2 instead of 2.1 to render the view instead
Same thing happened to me couple days ago after updating SDK through android SDK Manager. When I rebooted eclipse, I got a pop-up saying my Android Development Tool (ADT) or a plugin for Eclipse needs update to version 22.6.2
Here is the information http://developer.android.com/tools/sdk/eclipse-adt.html
and click updating ADT, the download instructions are in there.
I copied it out here just in case,
Download the ADT Plugin Start Eclipse, then select Help > Install New Software. Click Add, in the top-right corner. In the Add Repository dialog that appears, enter "ADT Plugin" for the Name and the following URL for the Location: https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/ Note: The Android Developer Tools update site requires a secure connection. Make sure the update site URL you enter starts with HTTPS. Click OK. In the Available Software dialog, select the checkbox next to Developer Tools and click Next. In the next window, you'll see a list of the tools to be downloaded. Click Next. Read and accept the license agreements, then click Finish. If you get a security warning saying that the authenticity or validity of the software can't be established, click OK. When the installation completes, restart Eclipse.
It should then work just fine.
Hope this helps.
