SAM build fails because Maven install fails with "The packaging for this project did not assign a file to the build artifact"

I have an issue where I am trying to get mvn install to work so that my sam build works with local invocation using Docker, but it keeps failing due to the following error:
[ERROR] Failed to execute goal org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-install-plugin:2.4:install (default-install) on project my-project: The packaging for this project did not assign a file to the build artifact -> [Help 1]
There are many different iterations of problems and solutions regarding "The packaging for this project did not assign a file to the build artifact" on StackOverflow, but none of them seem to resolve my issue.
For example, I can do a mvn jar:jar install:install and that works correctly, but I can't specify goals like that in the SAM build, so that isn't a proper solution -- I need mvn install to work. I have tried many variations of deleting the .m2 folder, which does nothing. I can also change the version of the maven-install-plugin to no avail. I can specify the file in the maven-install-plugin and if the path is correct, it doesn't see it, but if it is incorrect, it says it doesn't exist.
Nothing seems to solve the issue, so I need to find a real solution.

After much searching and many trial and errors, I finally figured out how to resolve this and figured I would share for those that are suffering through this like I was. There are two methods:
You can remove the following plugin:

While this makes it function correctly, it also produces a jar file, which may not be desirable, especially in the case of a Lambda (unnecessarily increases its size).
(Preferred solution) Add the maven-install-plugin with a skip configuration:

This solution both solves the problem and prevents you needing to create a jar file. This allowed my SAM build to work as a result of Maven functioning correctly.

AspectJ maven plugin with annotation processor - sources are generated twice

I'm experiencing some strange behaviour when combining the AspectJ compiler plugin with an annotation processor that generates sources.
I have Project A, the main project with annotated classes.
I have Project B, the dependency project with aspect classes and the annotation processor.
Ideally, what should happen, is upon compilation of project A, sources generated from annotated classes in Project A, using the annotation processor in project B should be compiled and saved in target/generated-sources/annotations/...
What actually happens is, upon compilation of project A, sources are generated in target/generated-sources/annotations/... and then generated a second time at the root of project A.

A workaround I found for this is to add <proc>none</proc> under <configuration> of the AspectJ compiler, but it's just a workaround. Am I missing something?

I get this error when trying to build GWT project with maven:

As I found out gwt-user 2.6.0 is downloaded with com.google.gwt.eventbinder.
How I can force com.google.gwt.eventbinder using gwt-user 2.7.0 instead 2.6.0?
The strange thing is that the build worked before I did 'git pull'.

Solution 1
The problem is eventbinder has dependency on gwt-user artifact. it uses 2.6.0 by default you can see it by using this command.
mvn dependency:tree
If you add this dependency block to your pom;
<dependency>
<groupId>com.google.gwt</groupId>
<artifactId>gwt-user</artifactId>
<version>2.7.0</version>
</dependency>
It will look like this...
This means your project will have gwt-user 2.7.0 all the time, i haven't tested if everything is ok with version compatibility or something your problem will be solved..

Thanks for the #Thomas Broyer's comment we can force eventbinder to use 2.7.0 gwt-user or any gwt dependency. if we just add this dependency management to our pom

MAVEN build Error, com.fasterxml.jackson.core:jackson-databind:jar:2.3.2 & unable to find main class

I'm suddenly getting a build error using Maven to build a JavaFX application that utilizes com.fasterxml.jackson.core:jackson-databind, I haven't updated the POM for about 3-4 weeks, therefore Im perplexed as to why this suddenly occurred.
The entire error message is:
The POM for com.fasterxml.jackson.core:jackson-databind:jar:2.3.2 is invalid, transitive dependencies (if any) will not be available, enable debug logging for more details
The artifact org.apache.commons:commons-io:jar:1.3.2 has been relocated to commons-io:commons-io:jar:1.3.2
I updated the com.fasterxml.jackson.core & commons-io, now when building I get:

When I run the application from NetBeans I get:

Can u please help me resolve this issue..

I don't think the problem is with the pom.xml - it looks like the standard Mahout 0.5 one. You need to explain what you are trying to do in Eclipse. In general, to use Maven projects in Eclipse, you need to install the M2Eclipse plugin. Then in Eclipse select
File->Import->Maven->Existing Maven Project
and select the Mahout project on the filesystem.
I checked out Mahout 0.5
svn checkout http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/mahout/tags/mahout-0.5/
then imported into Eclipse as I describe above. I did get some errors but different to you e.g.
maven-dependency-plugin (goals "copy-dependencies", "unpack") is not supported
by m2e. pom.xml /mahout-examples line 54 Maven Project Build Lifecycle Mapping
Problem
this is a known issue and can be solved by putting <pluginManagement> tags around <plugins> in <build>. However it is not the problem you describe.

I solved this issue after setting proxy in Maven setting.xml

In Eclipse try following steps:
Right click the project->Maven->Update Project
Check checkbox "Force Update of Snapshots/Releases"
Click OK.
