I faced this issue, when I was using Hibernate 4 (SessionFactory for persistence way, instead of EntityManagers) with Spring Boot. Adding this got rid of the error. Perhaps helps someone.

The context is Java Spring MVC and Hibernate, in IntelliJ. For some reason, in the Spring MVC config file, "transaction-manager" is not recognized as a valid reference. See the red text below:
Any tips on how to resolve this?

Spring Hibernate session issue

Hi I'm having a problem setting up hibernate on spring. I was able to make it work but it creates a lot of session on the database. From What i have notice it creates session for every bean on my spring.xml. Since I have 6 beans declared I also have 6 session on the database on application start Here is my code

You need to use transactionManager to manage session for you.
Add the following lines of code to your spring.xml

Then you have to annotate your service impl classes #Transactional("transactionManager") to make transactionManager managing transactions through session

Just an advice you can replace XML config for the DI by annotations to make it easy
in spring.xml, remove all your beans declarations (xxservice and xxxdao) and replace them by: <context:component-scan base-package="put here the package where your services and daos are lacated" />
your service must look like this :

Using multiple DataSources in Spring and Hibernate

I am having a main datasource, where I have read/write access and another datasource, where I just pull the data out and import it into my main datasource.

As you can see I added the second database in my application. However, I do not know how to properly call it inside my SettingsDaoImpl?
Any recommendations how to implement this in my current architecture.
You need to create different entity manager for each datasource and in the code you need to define unitName property of #PersistenceContext to inject particular entity manager.

Setting FlushMode.COMMIT in Spring

I would like set my Hibernate/JPA FlushMode to COMMIT, but in configuration file (applicationContenxt.xml is one of my files), i have a entityManager in my DAO, but i don't know how to set this in configuration file.

SOLUTION:
After a lot of research, i found a solution. I setted the FlushMode in #PersistenceContext in my BasicDAO class. Look:
#PersistenceContext(type = javax.persistence.PersistenceContextType.EXTENDED,
properties = #PersistenceProperty(name="org.hibernate.flushMode", value="COMMIT"))
protected EntityManager entityManager;
This works fine. I removed all #Transactional annotation from my "find" functions, because with #Transactional the "COMMIT" are fired and flush too.
