java spring mvc 404 not found error for sample Spring MVC

I am learning spring MVC and getting the below problem.Even I am not able to run any sample application downloaded from internet as well.
I am getting 404 Not Found "Description The origin server did not find a current representation for the target resource or is not willing to disclose that one exists."
I have tried the below
Adding the Maven dependencies in Deployment Assembly.
Changing the Tomcat server path.

No mapping found for HTTP request with URI SpringMVC Rest APi

I am a beginner user of Spring Framework. I am trying to create a simple Spring MVC project using Eclipse IDE and to deploye it on Apache Tomcat but I get the following error in terminal:

How to avoid "Root WebApplicationContext: initialization started" loading twice?

I am using Spring MVC, Spring security and deploying in Apache Tomcat 1.7x. I notice that Web Application context is getting loaded twice. Please let me know what is wrong with my configuration.
I have referred below posts but could not identify the difference

There are more than way to do this. The way that will work depends how servlet-context.xml are.
First, you can just remove <beans:import resource="servlet-context.xml" /> from your spring-security.xml.
Other way is remove this:

A good practice is separate your configuration in multiple application contexts, import all in an applicationContext.xml and have a specific application context for the servlet context, something like this:

Application deployed on jboss but gives 404 error when i try to access

So, i have deployed my application on JBOSS (Linux box) and when i try to access the URL it gives me 404 error.
The same application i have deployed and tested on my local JBOSS and works flawlessly.

As we can see in your web.xml
you are using WEB-INF\jsp\systemsettings\serverStatus.jsp
you should use WEB-INF/jsp/systemsettings/serverStatus.jsp
Instead of "\" use "/"

No mapping found in DispatcherServlet without using extension

I am receiving the message "The requested resource () is not available." when going to a url that I have mapped using DispatcherServlet. It previously worked when I had the mapping setup to use a .do extension, but when I map without an extension it doesn't work.

If I have the mapping set to *.do and the RequestMapping set to wod.do it works fine.
EDIT:
In the logs, when I go to that URL it shows the message
No mapping found for HTTP request with URI [/foobar/json/wod] in DispatcherServlet with name 'dispatcher'
EDIT 2: I added the alwaysUseFullPath to the handler:

This was due to the way my apache redirect was setup.
