Java 2D Scrolling - background not displaying - java

I am trying to make a scrolling game - where the player (in space) is constantly at the center of the screen. As he moves left right up and down, a background spritesheet will randomly generate coloured stars - so the moving stars will be an indication of which direction the player is moving in.
The problem I am now having is that the stars are not displaying when I run the game. Each tile is supposed to be 32x32, each containing at least one star, with the 'nostars' tile being empty. When I run the game, I just get a black screen.

In the generatelevel() I am only trying it out with the first 4 tiles, not all of the 64 tiles.
When I run the game, I expect to see 4 different stars scattered everywhere but instead I just get a black screen.

From the code posted, it appears that you forgot to load the background into image. I placed this code into a new public method called loadAssets(). Call this before you call game.start().

So from what I understand, you make a call to draw using BufferedImage image, however you have not actually loaded your image data into the variable image. I will provide a code snippet that you may need to tailor a bit
File imageFile = new File("/path/to/image.file");
BufferedImage image = ImageIO.read(imageFile);
There may be a faster way as you have already called
private BufferedImage image = new BufferedImage(width, height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
But as you can probably imagine, that doesn't actually connect you image variable to an image file. My best guess is that the code I provided will work, but honestly you'll have to try it.

The problem turned out to be simply that I had the wrong co-ordinates for each sprite. Sorry for wasting your time and thanks for the help anyway!

How to add click events to a 2D array of tiles objects in Java

I am creating a 2D turn-based Star Wars game where the player has to move from tile to tile in a grid system, all the while avoiding enemies (I know, exciting stuff right!!). The grid is a 2D Array of Tiles, which are objects that I created using Slick and Light-Weight Java Game Library (lwjgl) so that I could add texture to them. I'm pretty new to all of this, and I'm trying to add click listeners to my tiles (or TileGrid?) so that when I click on a tile the player will move there, but I'm having no luck thus far. If any one could help in this matter they will receive my heartfelt thank you and 50% of the game rights when I sell the game to LucasArts!

Java Mario game collision between enemy and blocks

I'm begginer in java game programming and I have a small actually big problem (for me) with game.
I'm trying making collision between enemy and blocks it doesnt work and i dont know why. It should worked but it just slow game on one fps per second and dont do anything.

I know that bounds should not have return same "new Rectangle" and that theres no any movements of enemy anyway when i set in tick method x--; for just trying if enemy stop when it come to the edge of block but it doesnt work i dont know whats wrong with it i spend more than two days with fixing this. I just wanted to have an enemy which move left and right and have collison with block it means when he "touch" by his left side to the block he "turn around" and move to right side until he "touch" by his right side etc... other collisions between Player and Enemy is not problem for me. But just this.

The problem is with your getBounds() method.
You are saying in getBounds() method to return a rectangle with width=32 and height=32. And since your rectangle is 32 by 32 (as mentioned in fillrect(x,y,32,32) ) so getBounds() returns with the intersection in height and width.
In other words, try not to collide the returned Top left bottom or right bounds with themselves.
And in enemy(), you are declaring set.color = red while in loading you are using green. Try red==255, green==0, blue==0 instead of if(red == 0 && green == 255 && blue == 0)

JFrame showing a copy of contents inside of itself...?

I have a strange problem, I can figure it out.
here is my program running:
the clock on the right shouldn't even be there, it should just be string that displays the time. I create two different objects and add them to a content panel, then add the content panel to the JFrame. I also have a menu bar that I add to the JFrame and it shows up on the right side of the content pane. Here is my main class:

my menu buttons are showing on the right side when I use the menu bar. It's almost as if it is just cloning the view on the left side and showing it on the right side again. Why is this?
super.repaint()
Don't do that, as calling repaint from within a paint method has potential for danger. Call the super.paint(g) method inside of a paint(Graphics g) override.
Or even better yet, don't override paint but instead override your JPanel's paintComponent(Graphics g) method and call super.paintComponent(g). For graphics you must call the same super method as the overridden method, and you're not doing that.
Also and again, you should avoid use of null layout as this makes for very inflexible GUI's that while they might look good on one platform look terrible on most other platforms or screen resolutions and that are very difficult to update and maintain.

Java game slows down when player moves

I'm trying to write my first game in Java. I followed some tutorials and learned how to load and update a background using a Canvas and how to load and move a player sprite. I did these two separately and they worked fine, but when I put the two together and try to move the player, the game slows down to the point that it is unplayable. This only happens when I hold down an arrow key to move the player; the game actually runs "smoothly" if I rapidly tap the arrow key. After quite a bit of testing, I'm convinced that the problem occurs when the background is redrawn each frame. Any other improvements would also be appreciated.

This is going to require double buffering. Any game with a lot going on needs double buffering.
How do you double buffer in java for a game?
Although I couldn't go through the code completely, it seems you do not do double buffering which affect performance drastically.
Try this in the relevant part of your program:

You really should use Timer. It will solve all your problems.
Every tick, you redraw all what you need.
And every tick, you should just check, which keys are pressed and which are not, instead of adding listeners. To keep tracking this, you always have to remember the keys pressed "before".
You can even create two Timers, one for graphic redraw and one for game logic.
Even timers can be delayed or something, the usual approach is to find out, how much time elapsed (System.nanoTime for example) and count how much of game logic you should forward to keep game always unlaggy and fluent.

Asteroid game NullPointerException error

Okay I tried a lot of stuff and discovered that even though the game works when I debug Game.java and it doesn't work when I run it through Asteroids.java. I found that img = createIimg = createImage(width, height); and g = img.getGraphics(); are returning null and that GraphicsEnvironment.isHeadless() is returning true. How should I change my to fix this issue?

You have the var "game" null, and you tried to call the method "run" on this var (game.run); obviously if "game" is null, you can't get the method, and throws nullpointer exception.
