Android DDMS was working the other day, but today (after 1.1 update) it always pops up an error message, that says to check the log file. The end of the log file is:

The SDK seems up-to-date yet no ddms, Ubuntu 14.04. Is this a known bug or is there extra setup required for this update??
Check your processes, you likely have another instance of the monitor or ddms tool running. Pretty lame of Google not to expect that might happen and give a nice message about it.
I was facing the same issue. I tried opening DDMS the other way
Open terminal
Then go to your sdk location
then inside tools.
run ./ddms
Doing this will open ddms.

Am I doing something wrong or it is a JMockIt bug? I am using version JMockIt 1.18, JUnit 4.12
I would expect that #RunWith(JMockit.class) should have taken care of this problem.
In any case, from JMockit tutorial here, there are some notes that you should check, in case these resolve your issue. In particular, these two seem to be most relevant:
(Note for Eclipse users: when specifying the order of jars in the >classpath, make sure to use the "Order and Export" tab of the "Java Build >Path" window. Also, make sure the Eclipse project uses the JRE from a JDK >installation instead of a "plain" JRE, since the latter lacks the >"attach" native library.)
In other situations (like running on JDK implementations other than >the Oracle JDKs), you may need to pass "-javaagent:path>/jmockit.jar" as a JVM initialization parameter. This can be done in >the "Run/Debug Configuration" for both Eclipse and IntelliJ IDEA, or with >build tools such as Ant and Maven.
Right click your project in Package Explorer
click Properties.
go to Java Build Path.
Libraries tab.
click on 'Add Library' button select JUnit click Next.
You should be able to handle it from there.
After that if you use coverage as : you will be able to see the coverage.
pass the following paramter through the VM args.
-javaagent:<path>/jmockit.jar
I just can't figure out what is causing a stackoverflow problem in eclipse. Well actually I do know, but I don't know why. I've tried the below:
Restarted my computer - duh
Eclipse.exe -clean
Reinstalled a new eclipse
Tested the exact same code every time, each time the exact same code appears to crash eclipse. The code is a lambda expression. Which is all fine until I press the period key "." for code completion within a switch statement.
My code is:
albumList.getSelectionModel().selectedItemProperty()
.addListener((ObservableValue obs, AbstractAlbum oldAlbum, AbstractAlbum selectedAlbum) -> {
switch (type){
test. // It doesn't matter what variable I use, valid or not, after the dot, eclipse crashes
}
});
I can't find anything wrong with my code. I followed this tutorial here: http://code.makery.ch/java/javafx-8-tutorial-intro/ which also has a lambda expression. I attempted to add a switch to this code and again it crashed:
lastNameColumn.setCellValueFactory(cellData -> {
switch (type){
test. // again it crashed after a dot
}
});
Can someone please confirm whether they can replicate this? I'm using a fresh Eclipse: Luna for java developer 64x - the latest package. Here is the log from eclipse:

For more information, my Eclipse has only one plugin which is a GUI plug-in to create GUI with simple drag and drop mechanism.. Furthermore, all my code inside the workspace is OSGI bundles
I don't know why you even need to install a plugin to get a drag and drop mechanism in Eclipse, but to quote IT Crowd:
Have you tried turning it off and on again? (Delete->Re-install)
The simplest solution is to backup your eclipse and adt folders when they're working nicely.
With this in mind, reinstall eclipse and back it up when it's running nicely.
Don't forget to give it as much memory as you can spare, especially if you're emulating an android device.
According to the FAQ at the eclipse wiki.
http://wiki.eclipse.org/FAQ_How_do_I_remove_a_plug-in%3F
There is no mechanism within Eclipse to permanently and physically
uninstall a feature and its plug-ins. The process to physically and
permanently remove an undesirable feature and its plug-ins is a manual
process that should be done when Eclipse is not running. In order to
do, you will have to manually remove the files there associated with
the feature from the eclipse/features directory and its plug-ins from
the eclipse/plugins directory. Be very cautious as to which files you
delete, and always have a backup of your Eclipse directory. If you
remove the wrong files from these directories, you may have quite some
trouble restoring your Eclipse to a stable state. Therefore, unless
your hard disk storage capacity is extraordinarily limited, it is
recommended that you simply leave the physical files in place.
If it does not work, you can always download eclipse again and reinstall all other plugins you got. If you don't remember with one you got you can check directory eclipse/plugins.
In the future you should have a backup of eclipse every time you deiced to install a new plugin that way you can just roll back if anything goes wrong.
I'm getting the following error:

Some background information: I'm running eclipse kepler 20130919-0819, os x 10.9.1, google suite plugin 3.5.1.
Deployment now does not work on any of my projects. I recently updated the plugin and there was a message that it required java 1.7. Development was working as usual after that message and I had no problems until I tried to deploy. (When I change the java compatibility on the project I get an error that GAE required 1.7.)
This may be related to the problem I'm having with java. According to mac preferences, java 1.7 is installed yet when I start a terminal session and issue the java command to check the version, it indicated 1.6. eclipse also seems to be running on 1.6 and I can't figure out how to rectify this. It may or may not be related.
My question is: can I fix this problem in place or do I have to back out updates and reinstall? I can continue to develop but am unable to deploy until I have a solution.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks to Rajeev, I have a lead but the problem is not fixed yet.
So I find the keplar eclipse.ini file. There is no -vm entry. It has the following contents:
/System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines is 1.6.0.jdk. I assume that this is where eclipse is picking up the jvm.
So I find and add an entry in the .ini file following the pattern in eclipse wiki:
I get the following Alert:
Then I go to the Mac Java Preferences which says that java is 1.7 is installed under:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin/Contents/Home/bin/java
This is where java gets installed when you go to java.com to install.
Then I get:
So this is like an adventure game, but not as much fun.
I see that I have to update the .ini file, but where or how do I get the right java?
I'm using Eclipse Helios and for every refactoring that spans multiple files it plainly fails! Nothing happens. On examining the logs here's the error that I see:

This error doesn't make much sense for me to be able to navigate around and even 'try' fixing it. For refactorings that are 'local' to the file/methods it seems to work fine. I've tried figuring this one out but just aghast! I tend to use the refactor feature A LOT. I'm working with J2EE + Glassfish v3. I have JARs for freemarker, restlet and that for DBUtils on the build path.
Any ideas? Has anyone encountered (and fixed :) this problem??
Thanks in advance!
Looks like a plugin issue. The root exception is,
Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/eclipse/jst/jsp/core/internal/java/search/JSPIndexManager
Meaning some class that should exist can't be found. Have you recently installed/removed plugins? You might have to reinstall eclipse.
Since I only had 2 plugins it was easy to figure out the problem. It seems there is a dependency conflict between JBoss and Glassfish Plugins (says so on update). Removing the JBoss Plugin (Help > Eclipse MarketPlace > Installed - select a plugin, click 'uninstall' and select all the components in it and click Next/Finish).
That seemed to fix the refactoring without reinstalling. Thanks to user654801 for pointing it out as a plug-in issue. It'd have been difficult to nail it down otherwise!
I have the same problem. I solve it similarly to Nupul.
I disabled the J2EE standard tools sience i don't need them:
Eclipse Europa:
Help -> Sowtware Updates -> Manage Configuration
disable J2EE Standard Tools (JST) Project SDK
