HTTP Status 404 – Not Found is always return

I'm setting up a spring mvc project from the scratch following some tutorial.
initially I configured web app to run in the tomcat.
I wrote a simple controller class with request hitting to the "/".
but always tomcat showing me "HTTP Status 404 – Not Found" error.
I looked many SO questions and those answers didn't work for me
remove the tomcat installation and reconfigure it. when hitting localhost:8080/ , I'm getting tomcat home page.
checked the spelling of the code

but the output is "HTTP Status 404 – Not Found" and description saying "The origin server did not find a current representation for the target resource or is not willing to disclose that one exists."

Spring MVC project only redirected to tomcat page instead using intellij. How to solve?

I am using spring framework 5.0.4 and tomcat server 9.0.2.

Everytime i deploy or run the project this page comes instead of my index.

With all my configurations, whenever i run the project, it shows the tomcat page on localhost:8080 instead of my project index.jsp.
What could be the possible reason?

In Run Configuration you have following section:
So you either need to uncheck the After Launch action or change URL to http://localhost:8080/index.jsp or whatever else.

Spring MVC - Invalid view being executed (violating specified request mapping)

I have been trying to debug it for like hours and even tried to create the same project over and again. I don't know whether it's the issue due to IntelliJ IDEA or something else. I tried to google but couldn't find any solution. I am making a simple spring mvc demo application in intelliJ. A default structure was provided by intelliJ and a view "index.jsp" in web directory.

The problem is that whenever I run the project and hit localhost:8080/ then index.jsp is executed but according to my configuration and mapping hello.jsp should be loaded. It may be possible that I am doing some silly mistake but I have tried as much as I can and now really frustrated. Please help me out. Thanks.

I guess localhost:8080 equals "" path, but not /

Spring 4 Context loaded twice

I was trying to integrate Quartz Scheduler with Spring 4. However, I noticed that all my classes are loaded twice. I googled a bit and found out that it happens due to the loading of the XML Configuration by both the Dispatcher Servlet Loader and by the ContetxtListener Loader. And removing the entries will fix the issue. However in my web.xml, I have no such entries.
Any help on what else I may be doing wrong?

I have reduced my project to a very basic implementation of SPRING with Quratz Scheduler and it always loads twice. There is only one class (POJO) in the application which is called through Quartz Scheduler. The POJO prints a message on the console with the hashcode of the object and current time. The message is printed twice for the same time with 2 different hashcodes. The 2 different hashcodes hint at 2 loads of the context.

Any idea if its a bug in Spring jar files for this particular release?

The issue got solved for me. Its due to the Eclipse and Tomcat plugin for Eclipse. My project name in Eclipse was different from the ContextRoot.
Eclipse deployed the application to Tomcat once but the application is accessible through 2 URLS i.e. one for ProjectName and one for Context Root.
1) http://localhost:8080/TractivityPhase2/login --> For project Name
2) http://localhost:8080/Tractivity/login --> For ContextRoot
So actually the application is loaded twice for the 2 URLs.
The issue for me got solved when I made the Context Root equal to my project name. Hope this answer helps someone else.

Error when publishing Spring application to Geronimo web server

I'm trying to set up Spring with Geronimo web server, but I'm getting the following error:

Component-scanning will only work if the application (whether it's an EAR or a WAR) is unpacked by the application on to the filesystem. Appservers generally will do this anyway, for runtime performance reasons.
So it looks like your Geronimo server isn't doing this. Hopefully there's a setting somewhere where you can configure to unpack the app before running it.
