Spring Boot - Tiles issue - java

I am using Spring Boot and tiles for the first time. Using the configuration below I am getting:
Whitelabel Error Page This application has no explicit mapping for /error, so you are seeing this as a fallback.

Did you try changing the packaging type to WAR? There are some limitations when using JSP with Spring boot.
You can try this, followed by a clean installation of MVN:
<artifactId>store-items</artifactId>
<version>0.0.1-SNAPSHOT</version>
<packaging>war</packaging>
More info

The message is simply saying that you do not have a RequestMapping for /error, hence it is using the default fallback page, which prints out an error and does a few other things. If you want to avoid the error message, you just need to make sure you've got a controller endpoint registered for /error, e.g:
#RequestMapping("/error")
public String handleError(...) { ... ; return "ded"; }
That should be enough to get rid of the message. I don't believe that having an error.jsp file will be enough, as that's not technically a mapping, but I'm not 100% certain of that.
See: This application has no explicit mapping for /error

Default page in Spring MVC does not render if I add Spring tag

I'm trying to create a simple web application which uses Spring MVC. Here I used Spring tag to link the resources folder. I like to add CSS(div{color:red}) to the default page(index.jsp) as well but it does not render when I add the Spring tag. The welcome.jsp is working properly when I add it there. What could be blocking the jsp file from not rendering properly? I attached the screenshots related to this question. I also included the code involved in web.xml, pom.xml,servlet.xml and the controller class for reference.

Spring MVC: restful URL not found but resource URL works

I have one Spring MVC project, it serves one Restful servlet, and one static website (which is placed in /WebContent/portal/.
Restful URI: like for /service/login, its controller is placed in com.test.testap.restful.auth
Static resource URLS: uses <mvc:resources mapping="/portal/**" location="/portal/" /> to serve static files like index.html.
The problem I met:
Scenario 1: When removes <mvc:resources mapping="/portal/**" location="/portal/" />, Restful API URLs works fine. But can't access the /portal/index.html which is expected.
Scenario 2: When adds <mvc:resources mapping="/portal/**" location="/portal/" />, /portal/index.html works, but returns Http Status=404 for all Restful URI.
PS: you will see <mvc:resources mapping="/portal/**" location="/portal/" /> at the end of the file WEB-INF/spring/test-restful-servlet.xml.
It seems when adds <mvc:resources>, it will caused all urls (including Restful URLs will be served as resources). But can't find anything I did wrong.
I tried many solutions but all of them don't work (like declare another servlet for url-pattern=/portal/*)
Appreciate any help.

Change your component scan:

And don't use a name with white spaces for the servlet-mapping

The way your web.xml is structured, the file dispatcher-servlet.xml will be loaded twice - once due to the <servlet>...</servlet> tag and then again due to <context-param>...</context-param>. You should remove the reference to dispatcher-servlet.xml from the <context-param>...</context-param> section.
The reason why your Spring Security annotations are not working is that you do not have <security:global-method-security jsr250-annotations="enabled" pre-post-annotations="enabled" secured-annotations="enabled"/> anywhere in the Spring configuration. Since you want to secure your controllers, this line should be added to dispatcher-servlet.xml. The modified file will look like the following:
<beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans"
xmlns:context="http://www.springframework.org/schema/context"
xmlns:security="http://www.springframework.org/schema/security"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans.xsd
http://www.springframework.org/schema/context http://www.springframework.org/schema/context/spring-context.xsd
http://www.springframework.org/schema/security http://www.springframework.org/schema/security/spring-security.xsd">
<context:component-scan base-package="com.concretepage.security.controller"/>
<bean class="org.springframework.web.servlet.view.InternalResourceViewResolver">
<property name="prefix" value="/pages/"/>
<property name="suffix" value=".jsp"/>
</bean>
<security:global-method-security
jsr250-annotations="enabled"
pre-post-annotations="enabled"
secured-annotations="enabled"/>
</beans>
