GitHub and Android studio no gradle.build - java

So I created an Android studio project, then trough it I created a Git repository and published it.
Now I'm on a different computer trying to sync it all. So from the home of android studio I select "Check out project from Version Control" then Git, paste the github repo link and it imports the code, but no all.
When I open the imported project the Gradle Script is missing (tough it's not shown even in the GitHub repo), the manifest folder and to show the res folder i have to change the type under 1:project to "project".
If I open an activity xml file it won't give the option to switch between Design and Text. And it doens't recognise some component like "AppCompactActivity" in the java files.
Anyone knows what is happening and how to solve this?
Thanks

Probably you didn't commit all files. Also you should check that the IDE is the same on both computer, same gradle plugin, same Android Studio version and so on.
Check that your gradle exist on your github repo in remote

AndroidManifest.xml and Bluetooth Chat, in Android Studio

A gentleman was kind enough to pass me a link of a repository with bluetooth functionality. I imported it from GitHub. I tried then copying it, but noticed eventually that Android Studio built and organized a different style of directory than that from the github repository. So I deleted the entire directory, and just pasted that of the github depository in.
However, the repository version suffers from the fact that the classes say "Java file outside of source root". Moreover, when I tried to import it, it generates the error "The project is using an incompatible version (AGP 7.3.0) of the Android Gradle plugin. Latest supported version is AGP 7.2.2". I read online I could just update Android Studio instead of downgrade Gradle. When I do the most recent update (I think), Android Studio tells me that the project doesn't use the Gradle build system.
Also, AndroidManifest.xml says that it can't resolve certain activities, such as "MainActivity", which does exist. I think AndroidManifest.xml is in the root folder as it should be.
Any idea what is wrong with my program? At this point, this is just copy-and-pasted from the github Bluetooth Chat program. Is that outdated, etc?
I have spent hours trying to troubleshoot this. Perhaps there is someone with some experience in it.

Can't install Dropbox plugin for Android Studio

I'm trying to add the latest (v5.1.1) Dropbox plugin to my Android Studio install (Bumblebee 2021.1.1) on Win10. I downloaded the .jar file from releases/v5.1.1 folder to an empty folder, then tried to install it using this method: from the Studio main menu I chose Plugins, selected the gear icon followed by Install Plugin From Disk, browsed to the .jar file location, selected it then pressed OK. I got an error message: "Fail to load plugin from file dropbox-sdk-java-5.1.1.jar". I tried installing the -5.1.1-javadoc.jar file using the same method, with the same result. I don't need the sources, I just want to use the SDK. Any ideas? TIA!
First, I think you meant "Android Studio" instead of "Visual Studio"?
If so, it sounds like you're attempting to install the Dropbox Java SDK as a plugin to Android Studio itself. The Dropbox Java SDK is not an Android Studio plugin though. It is a package for connecting to the Dropbox API from your Java app.
To install the Dropbox package in your app, you should use Maven or Gradle, as instructed here.
The Dropbox Java SDK also comes with an example Android app that uses the Dropbox package.
Thanks, Greg; your answer pointed me in the right direction. I had already added an 'implementation' directive to my Gradle file as per the directions on GitHub. However, I took the instruction to add the directive by editing my "project's build.gradle" too literally; I added it to the Project build.gradle file instead of adding it to the Module build.gradle. Problem solved!

Migrate to Gradle, but Gradle information is given in project

I am having trouble with Android Studio. I forked the project here:
https://www.google.com/url?q=https://github.com/ubclaunchpad/Android-Calculator&sa=D&ust=1514703967854000&usg=AFQjCNHLwSAZ_JER6VlZ8LP6AtTzfUVBog
and cloned it in Android Studio, but it keeps telling me that I should Migrate to Gradle. However, if you look at the project files on github, there are a lot of gradle related files, so clearly the project does use gradle. How do I fix this? Is there a simple solution?
it works fine with me ensure that you open Calculator folder as a project, not Android-Calculator-master
check this photo
open calculator folder

Downloading a libgdx Project Gradle Problems

So my friends and I are making a game for Android and we are using Android studio. We are using libgdx. We are also learning how to use github. Anyways, using Android Studio, I uploaded the basic libgdx setup. The one that just displays the Bad Logic image. My friend downloads it from github using Android studio but there are errors everywhere. It says that it can't find the badlogic package and it gives the following error:
This project does not use the Gradle build system. We recommend that you migrate to using the Gradle build system.
I know that libgdx uses gradle. So what is the problem? Why can't we simply upload and then download a simple project?
Thanks!
Try to remove the .gradle directory and re-import the project or use the Setup App Installer from here to create a new gradle project.
Thanks for the help! I finally figured it out.
Basically, when I imported the project, I was just importing with existing project files. These are the steps I took to get it fixed.
Check out from Version Control using Android Studio and the welcome screen.
When asked to open, say NO.
Go to the folder that is associated with the repo.
Create a local.properties file there and in that file it should have
sdk.dir = /YOUR/PATH/TO/SDK/HERE
Then go back to Android Studio.
Click Import Project and select the folder that has it in there.
From then on, it should work forever as the .gitignore file that is generated by libgdx will ignore the local.properties file when pushed. I hope this helps someone!

Android - Eclipse project making and R file error

I'm having issue with Eclipse and I work in android. This issue happens when I create a new project and when I click finish, It auto generates the project without R file and The project creating window doesn't closes and I have to close it. I have many old projects which work fine(Until now) and the issue is only coming when I make a new project. I also get a error in Styles.xml file saying that "Error retrieving parent for item: No resource found that matches the given name 'Theme.AppCompat.Light'". When I press CTRL+RightClick onto R file then it takes me to a window which says "Source Not Found". If you have any solution for this, Please post your answer under this question. Thank you!
EDIT: Appcompat error was solved later.
To solve missing R in generated java files, make sure that Android SDK Tools and Android SDK Build-tools are installed and updated in SDK Manager. Then, make sure Eclipse is updated. After this, clean your project and rebuild.
To solve No resource found "...AppCompat...", make sure Android Support Library is installed and updated in SDK Manager. Then, the AppCompat library can be found at:
android-sdk/extras/android/support/v7/appcompat
You need to reference this AppCompat library in your Android project.
Import the library into Eclipse. To do so:
Right click on your Android project. Select properties. Click 'add...' at the bottom to add a library. Select the support library. Finally, Clean and rebuild your project.
