I'm developing a web service, and whenever I try to debug on server this is what I get, even though if I run on server everything goes fine!!!
I've been stuck on this now for 2 days !!!
Thanks for the help guys.
UPDATE
clicking on change attached source shows:
The Eclipse debugger needs the source code of what's executing on the server. Typically, you can download the source online as a jar or zip, then save it somewhere on your machine. Then click "Change Attached Source" and point to the downloaded source jar or directory where the zip was extracted.

Finally after 3 days stuck on this, all I had to do is to Remove all break points by going to
breakpoints view -> Right click on any breakpoint -> remove all

I am just starting off in Java and trying to follow buckythenewboston on you tube. I have java and eclipse neon both downloaded correctly. However, when I create a new project like he showed in the video, I click finish and nothing shows up, in the video it showed on the side there should be a like java symbol with the name of the project I created. Well nothing happens it is blank on my screen. I tried opening a file from the work space in my C drive and that doesn't work either as nothing shows up so I can create a class. I know there is a couple of forum questions with similar title but that is different I think as they can at least get code in where I can't. Any explanation as what is going on would be helpful. I also tried to go to file-import-existing project... but the existing project part isn't an option.
Thanks in advance.
go into your workspace directory and delete .metadata folder, then restart eclipse
Close all perspectives and open a new one, the one you like.
I have a web site project in Eclipse and I needed to copy it and rename it for a new client. So I had my tortisesvn export the site to a new directory and changed the project name in the .project file and imported it into the same workspace in Eclipse. It seems to be running ok but now when I get errors in the console window the links that should take me to the line of the error take me to the file in the original project not the new one. Anybody know what I can do to fix this?
EDIT: In case anyone asks. I'm sure it's using the correct file when running the site and the error number is on the correct line. I put an intentional divide by 0 error in my code to test this and I get the expected error in the console window on the line that the error is on but it still sends me to the same file name but in the other project.
I found this one with some more searching: Eclipse opens wrong source file on exception
It seems if I remove the other project from the server in tomcat it goes to the correct spot. What a pain.
In Eclipse, while adding a new server, I accidently added a 'project' as a resource to the server. Now, in all my servers, this project (which I've already deleted from hard disk) appears as a resource, and I can't get rid of it. Here's a screenshot, shown when I try to Run the project and it asks me to select the server:
I've tried to reinstall Eclipse, switch workspaces, but I can't get rid of it. Because of this, I'm getting a lot of errors whenever I try to run even a sample app. How do I get rid of this 'resource' and just start over?
Try clicking on the test and do remove as you have shown in the screenshot or delete the server and define new server..
I am trying to write a project that communicates with a Bluetooth device and receives information from it. I googled it and from what I understood I had to get a package named 'bluecove' which will contain all I need. I downloaded the jar file, and (in Eclipse) by right-clicking on 'my project>build path>jar file>bluecove', I added the jar file into my project. When I try to run some lines of code, it gives me an error that says that some content is unavailable:
Native Library intelbth_x64 not available
Native Library bluecove_x64 not available
Then I went back to the bluecove website and i saw there another Windows file for download called 'bluecove-2.1.0-sources.tar.gz'
here is a link:
http://code.google.com/p/bluecove/downloads/list
When I downloaded it, there was a folder inside named 'bluecove-2.1.0' which I think I have to copy into one of the system's folders. What should I be doing here?
Thanks
p.s i will need the answer as soon as possible - in the next 9 hours at most, please help me
and again thanks
As stated here (commented by oxc), you need to download the .jar specified: http://snapshot.bluecove.org/distribution/download/2.1.1-SNAPSHOT/2.1.1-SNAPSHOT.62/
i have a java applet in one html page, later, i modified the java code and regenerate the jar file. all i did is copy the jar file to my web server and brought up the browser to see the updated the appplet, but it still showed the old version. i tried refresh the browser, delete the cookies, still the same. i tried to open that html file by double clicking the file, it open it in browser with the right applet...i deployed the applet with jnlp. anyone knows what might go wrong? Thanks.
Go to the Java control panel and clear the Java caches*. The Java plugin does not use your browser for downloading Jar files.
*: Temporary internet files - configuration - delete files
Try this to clear the cache quickly without having to go through the tedious process of opening the Control Panel:
Open up the Java Console:
Windows:
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/javaconsole.xml
Use method 2.
Linux:
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/enable_console_linux.xml
And I can't insert a third hyperlink for Macintosh because I don't have enough reputation points yet......
Press 'x' to clear the cache!
I hope this works!
Jonathan's answer should do the trick, but in future I recommend you to load the applet from a new URL each time you update. For example http://www.domain.com/applet.jar?version=x
