Incoming SMS contents - java

I wish I could get the contents of an incoming sms but its not working ..
In fact, no toast will appear, and nothing appears in the log, I think the myreceiver is not initialized ...
So here is the manifest, the onCreate the first activity, and my receiver java file : Manifest :

StartActivityForResult between 2 apps doesn't return any value to the first App

Let's say I have App A and App B.
In app A, I launch an intent to start App B in this way.
Intent intent = new Intent("com.example.myAppBAction");
Bundle bundle = new Bundle();
bundle.putString("anId", id);
intent.putExtras(bundle);
startActivityForResult(intent, myRequestCode);
Then in App B, I receive all my data and after doing some work I return a result this way.
#Override
public void onBackPressed() {
super.onBackPressed();
Intent i = new Intent();
int codeWorkDone;//this is valued between 2 or 3
i.putExtra("FirstResult", anInteger);
i.putExtra("SecondResult", anotherInteger);
setResult(codeWorkDone, i);
finish();
}
Eventually in my onActivityResult I need to print all the extras put in App B, as it follows:
#Override
protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) {
super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, data);
switch (requestCode){
case myRequestCode:
StringBuilder result = new StringBuilder();
result.append(resultCode + "\n");
if (data != null){
Bundle b = data.getExtras();
if (b != null) {
for (String key : b.keySet()) {
result.append(key + " : " + (b.get(key) != null ? b.get(key) : "NULL"));
}
}
}
Log.d("esito", result.toString());
break;
}
}
The problem here is that the requestCode is correct, but I received back a resultCode which is 0 (remember that from app B is set between 2 or 3) and my data is null.
Any hint on this one?

Android BroadcastReceiver not detecting SMS

I don't know what has gone wrong, but I'm having a difficult time with this one. The program is supposed to show a toast once a message is received. I have tried adding the priority in the manifest file, but it doesn't work.
The manifest file
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"

Push notify doesn't arrive

I build an android app composed by a web view, in parse.com i've got my device registered but when i send a push notification in "pushes sent" there is 0 pushes.
this is my Mainactivity:
import com.party.bparty.MainActivity;
import com.parse.Parse;
import com.parse.ParseInstallation;
import com.parse.ParsePush;
import com.parse.ParseQuery;
import com.parse.PushService;
public class MainActivity extends ActionBarActivity {
private WebView mWebView;
private String url = "http://www.bestparty.altervista.org";

PushService.setDefaultPushCallback(this, MainActivity.class);
ParseInstallation.getCurrentInstallation().saveInBackground();
//...
//...initializing and loading the contentview and the webview
}
//options menu omitted
}
this is my MycustomReceiver
public class MyCustomReceiver extends BroadcastReceiver {
private static final String TAG = "MyCustomReceiver";
#Override

}
}
}
}
catch (JSONException e) {
Log.d(TAG, "JSONException: " + e.getMessage());
}
}
}
and this is my ShowPopup
public class ShowPopUp extends Activity implements OnClickListener {
Button ok, cancel;

Where's my error?
I do it, but it doesn't work anyway
" if (action.equals("com.party.bparty.UPDATE_STATUS")) {
Pick one, either com.party.bparty.UPDATE_STATUS or com.iakremera.pushnotificationdemo.UPDATE_STATUS"
but Now i have 1 "PUSH SENT" in push sent, but my device doesn't show any push
Your receiver has the wrong filter. Your receiver is declared as this:
<receiver android:name="com.party.bparty.MyCustomReceiver" >
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.BOOT_COMPLETED" />
<action android:name="android.intent.action.USER_PRESENT" />
<action android:name="com.iakremera.pushnotificationdemo.UPDATE_STATUS" />
</intent-filter>
</receiver>
but you are checking for a different intent action in the code:
if (action.equals("com.party.bparty.UPDATE_STATUS")) {
Pick one, either com.party.bparty.UPDATE_STATUS or com.iakremera.pushnotificationdemo.UPDATE_STATUS and also make sure that Parse knows which one it is when you perform the push itself.

for any further query please let me know....
In the above code example, you have missed out few things,
Check your AndroidManifest.xml file, and add c2dm permissions,
permission android:name="your package.permission.C2D_MESSAGE" android:protectionLevel="signature"
uses-permission android:name="com.google.android.c2dm.permission.RECEIVE"
uses-permission android:name="your package.permission.C2D_MESSAGE"
While sending the data, set the action in your data,
JSONObject data = new JSONObject();
try {
data.put("action", "your package.GOT_MESSAGE");
data.put("ya", ya);
data.put("from", ParseUser.getCurrentUser().getUsername());
}catch (Exception e){
e.printStackTrace();
return;
}
ParsePush parsePush = new ParsePush();
parsePush.setData(data);

GCM no receive messages in 2.3.6 but it's ok in 4.1.2

The problem is only with android 2.3.6 .
With 4.x, there isn't any problem, the receiver it's ok.
I have received the registration ID with 2.3.6 but the messages are never received.

My receiver:
public class GcmBroadcastReceiver extends WakefulBroadcastReceiver {
#Override
public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) {
// Explicitly specify that GcmIntentService will handle the intent.
ComponentName comp = new ComponentName(context.getPackageName(),
GcmIntentService.class.getName());
// Start the service, keeping the device awake while it is launching.
startWakefulService(context, (intent.setComponent(comp)));
setResultCode(Activity.RESULT_OK);
}
}
my activity:
...
if (checkPlayServices()) {
gcm = GoogleCloudMessaging.getInstance(this);
regid = getRegistrationId(context);
if (regid.equals("")) {
registerInBackground();
}
}
...
private boolean checkPlayServices() {
int resultCode = GooglePlayServicesUtil
.isGooglePlayServicesAvailable(this);
if (resultCode != ConnectionResult.SUCCESS) {
if (GooglePlayServicesUtil.isUserRecoverableError(resultCode)) {
GooglePlayServicesUtil.getErrorDialog(resultCode, this,
PLAY_SERVICES_RESOLUTION_REQUEST).show();
} else {
finish();
}
return false;
}
return true;
}
Check the Google play services version number and there is a pretty defined method to check Google play services a availability
Latest release of gcm using google play is very easy to implement and can be used for longer time.
See this tutorial. Hope it might help.
