I developed few months ago an android application that is working well. I wanted then to add some updates on the code. I updated android studio and now that I want to run my code with the new Android studio i have this error :
Error:Could not read entry ':app:packageDebug' from cache taskArtifacts.bin (/Users/sofiane/Desktop/AndroidStudioProjects/Changes/.gradle/2.10/taskArtifacts/taskArtifacts.bin).
>com.android.build.gradle.tasks.PackageApplication$DexPackagingPolicy
Can any one help me to fix this, i can't even understand why ??
Thanx in advance.
1st Solution of this problem is
clean out the gradle system caches,
Gradle cache locates at
On Windows: %USER_HOME%.gradle/caches
On Mac/Unix: $HOME/.gradle/caches/
Or 2nd solution for this problem is
Just delete ProjectDirectory/.gradle/taskArtifacts.bin file and restart your Android Studio.
As #Sebastian Engel told,
Removing the project-local .gradle folder will do it. It will be recreated during the next build and all will be fine again.
Gradle cache located at
On Windows: %USER_HOME%.gradle/caches
On Mac/Unix: $HOME/.gradle/caches/
You can browse to these directory and manually delete it or run
rm -rf $HOME/.gradle/caches/
on Unix or OS X system.

I just downloaded and installed Android Studio. I've tried running it, but there's some internal error. I've tried uninstalling, deleting the JDK, and reinstalling, but I'm still having this same problem. I also tried to download the new installer and install it again but same problem happened.
Here's the error:

First of all, I will like to know which OS you are on. But try this;
If you have anti-virus, you want to disable it till after a successful installation because some anti-virus delete some files at installation time because those files are read as treat to your PC.
If you are on MacOS ,then try deleting the marketplace directory which contains plugins.
rm -Rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/AndroidStudio2020.3.1/marketplace/
or
~/Library/Application Support/Google/AndroidStudio202.3.1/plugins
There can be Android Studio under Application Support but that is not the correct one.
If you use Windows then , try the following ways:-
Changing these lines of code
Open the folder where you installed Android Studio:
ex: C:Program FilesAndroidAndroid Studiobin
Find and edit idea.properties. You can edit this with use notepad++ or
any similar application that allows text editing.
Add this line as the final in the file:
disable.android.first.run=true
Now run Android Studio again.
Opening in Offline Mode
Close Android Studio Turn off Internet connection and be sure of it.
Start Android Studio. You will see a popup box with Cancel option in it.
Then Click cancel.
Reinstalling JAVA, PYTHON
Downloading new package of ANDRIOD STUDIO and installing it again after deleting all the previous files
Adding bin directory to the enviornment variables
JAVA PYTHON JRE-AndriodStudio
Deleting the user plugins that we have in Andriod Studio. [But as its my first time of installation, I am not having them]
Even tried restarting my system
Closing all other instances running via java, to ensure it not disturbing that particular port number
But no programmes were running in the process that took the use of java

aapt is missing on 'C:\Users\rv498\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\build-tools\25.0.2\aapt.exe'
Hello, I have done importing cordova project to Android Studio before with no problems. My android studio is the latest stable version because I reinstalled it today (3/17/17). Please help thanks.
BTW, the reason I started to import to Android Studio from Cordova is because I was starting get message about gradle wrapper missing from cordova CLI. I suspect this is SDK Manager issue and I went there but after few attempts, nothing really progressed.
-I had same issue so i opened C:\Users\Sheriff\AppData\Local\Android\sdk\build-tools\24.0.2
-i saw aapt2.exe then i changed it to aapt.exe
-Closed my project on the android studio then opened it back it was working perfectly.
Quick solution
check if aapt.exe is in fact missing C:\Users\rv498\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\build-tools\25.0.2\
it's there? echeck perms, check %PATH%
it is not there? find where it is. Copy it to the location above
of check why it looks for it in that place. Is there's any config file that got the above path? If so, edit it.
aapt.exe file moved to the latest sdk build tools folder
I just found aapt.exe file in my latest Android-SDK folder (Android_SDK\build-tools\28.0.3)
You can check your latest sdk build-tools folder
or
You can search on total Android SDK folder by file name
I am facing Gradle cache error and I don't know how to tackle it. I have attached the error snap with my question below. I tried different solutions posted at stack-overflow but none of them worked. Anyone suggest me a solution Any additional suggestions would be helpful.
e.g Error: Failed to open zip file.e.g
Error: Failed to open zip file.
Download the latest gradle package from this directory
Extract it and put it somewhere (for example f:\gradle-1.10)
Go to your Android Studio and load your project then open File->Settings->gradle, in this page click on Use local gradle distribution.
Type your gradle folder address there.
Its because your gradle directory is not the directory of your gradle, to check go to android studio open your project then open File->Settings->Build,Execution, Deployment->Gradle

Hey not necessary to set gradle manually. i have also faced this issue but i deleted all files in gradle folder path "C:/Users/username/.gradle/"
simple steps follow
first goto path "C:/Users/username/.gradle/"
delete all files in above path.
open android studio and sync gradle or build again or create new project.
it will be auto downloaded new gradle version files and auto build.
*Make sure you your gradle settings like this
- checked "Use default gradle wrapper(recommended)
- unchecked offline work
You can download manually but this is another solution:
Change "https" to "http" on 'gradle-wrapper.properties' in root project.
distributionUrl=https\://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-3.3-all.zip
to,
distributionUrl=http\://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-3.3-all.zip
first :i tried to delete the .gradle folder from project it doesn't
work;
second: i tried use the old version gradle ,but studio force me to
use gradle-3.3,so it confused me long time;
third:I noticed the tips unzip exception"java.util.zip.ZipException:
error in opening zip file", I tried to unzip the file by handset's
really can't unzip, so the problem must happen in the download
process.
solution: I copy the file "gradle-3.3-all.zip " from my colleague who build success,and replace mine in such path ".gradle/wrapper/dists/gradle-3.3-all/55gk2rcmfc6p2dg9u9ohc3hw9/gradle-3.3-all.zip "
If you want to use gradle wrapper - delete anything under:
.gradle/wrapper/dists/
and refresh gradle.
The gradle wrapper will download from scratch and everything should work fine.
I solved this problem with the installation of Gradle using HomeBrew on Mac. If you type gradle -v in terminal and shows command not found: gradle, then I think you can use this way to solve this problem on Mac:
First install the Gradle with Homebrew: brew install gradle
Then go to Android Studio, open Android Studio->Preferences->Build,Execution,Deployment->Gradle, under Project-level settings check: Use local gradle distribution and set Gradle home with: '/usr/local/Cellar/gradle/3.5/libexec' (3.5 is my gradle version)
Try again, and if the version is not correct, you can manually download the specified version from gradle website (the version specified in the file <your project dir>/gradle/wrapper/gradle-wrapper.properties: distributionUrl=<url>), extract the downloaded zip file to the location and set the Gradle home to it in Android Studio.
Hope that helps.
From my MAC i just go to the gradle folder (/Users/USER/.gradle) > wrapper > dist and delete the gradle folder with the problem. Then go to studio and re-download the gradle file.
In my case, I changed distributionUrl in gradle-wrapper.properties from
https\://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-6.5-bin.zip
to
https\://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-6.5-all.zip
cd /root/.gradle/wrapper/dists
ls
gradle-5.6.4-all gradle-6.5-all gradle-6.6.1-bin
gradle-6.1.1-bin gradle-6.5-bin
for example (gradle-6.1.1-bin) :
rm -R gradle-6.1.1-bin
I can not build any android project in Android Studio. Recently Android studio was updated to 2.3 as well as the gradle version. I think somewhere the update has messed up I am not sure where it is. I have deleted .gradle directory from the home folder several times by now. Changed the distributionUrl to older version of gradle. But the problem persists. Where to look at what is going on? How to solve this issue?
The reason behind taking too much time on refreshing gradle project is, it was downloading gradle distribution and each time and for some network issue the download was never being completed. The zip file for gradle distribution was 91MB. So the network error + slow internet connection made it impossible task for my Android Studio.
I found two solution for this:
First approach is we have to download the gradle distribution manually from services.gradle.org/distributions. Then follow the process of this answer of the question - Android Studio Stuck at Gradle Download on create new project.
Second approach is somewhat like the first approach but less complex. Download gradle distribution. Extract it somewhere. Then go to:
File > Settings > Build, Execution and Deployment > Gradle
Check Use local gradle distribution. Set the Gradle home to the folder we have extracted.
I had the same problem
What I have done is
1.Close your project
2.Delete folders of .idea , .gradle, gradle folders from my project(not from home). then
3.File=>open your project
press ok in the dialogue box it will automatically set the gradle for you.
or
You can specify gradle path
settings->build excecution deployment->build tools->gradle set your
gradle home path to your downloaded gradle
I faced this case because of slow internet, Each time while beginning with the project, it downloads the gradles taking more time.Finally refreshing complete after waiting for 10 minute.
I wanted to start some Android app development with my friend recently. I've installed the latest Android Studio 0.8.1 and cloned github repo. Then, when I try to build the project using Gradle, it is failing with the message:
Caused by: org.gradle.api.GradleException: Unable to start the daemon process.
This problem might be caused by incorrect configuration of the daemon.
For example, an unrecognized jvm option is used.
Please refer to the user guide chapter on the daemon at http://gradle.org/docs/1.12/userguide/gradle_daemon.html
I am using Windows 8.1 64bit, JDK jdk1.7.0_60 64bit and gradle 1.12
I tried to:
- disable firewall and antivirus - didn't help
- download gradle manually, unzip and copy to .gradle in my home directory - didn't help
- when I open a blank new app I have same problem
- I moved the app to different directory as my user name contains 'ł' - same issue
Can anyone look at the log and try to help? This is the most annoying kind of issues developer can face - env is refusing to work and you can't code :(

Finally, after quite long fight last night, I have managed to run Android studio and build project with Gradle... and I hope it will stay so.
So, as #Eugen pointed out, this could be related to the fact that first installation of Android Studio was done for "only current user". Even I have uninstalled it and installed again it was still failing. Last night, I decided to uninstall it and also, manually, remove all remains of android stuff by simply deleting every directory with android, gradle etc. in its name ;)
I have also updated java to 7.65. and installed stand alone Gradle 2.0 and add it to PATH and check it is working.
After that, I done a clean install of android studio and open simple new MyApp project... and it works! Then I opened my other project - also working! I removed Gradle from PATH - still working.
I have no idea what was wrong... probably first installation of Android Studio was not completely correct. And unistalling it, didn't removed everything.
So, I have no clear answer for my issues, but I thought it could be helpful to describe the story. :)
