run spring boot with java -jar with tools.jar as dependency - java

I am trying to run a springboot app that needs tools.jar as a dependency, I runned "mvn package spring-boot:run" and everything goes ok, but after packaging with "mvn package spring-boot:repackage" and running with java -jar the generated boot.jar the throws the following error
java -jar "site-0.1.0-spring-boot.jar"

Any Idea of how should I run it without mvn? what am I doing bad?

System scope dependencies are not added in the repackaged jar (e.g. 'fat' jar). That is why your app works fine in development (with the "local" classpath) and does not when started as a separate package.
The upcoming Spring Boot 1.4.0.RC1 release will support this feature: you'll be able to set includeSystemScope in your Maven plugin configuration and any system scoped dependencies will be included. Note that repackaging tools.jar is probably a smell, see this question

How to correctly add Vaadin framework into my Spring Boot project?

I am trying to integrate what is done in this official Vaadin video tutorial (implement back end push notification) into my Spring Boot project.
I am finding some problem trying to understand how to correctly integrate Vaadin framework into my existing Spring Boot project pom.xml file in order to have all the dependencies needed to work.
So basically this is the video tutorial link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5sbGvW3S4I
and this is the related GitHub link of this tutorial example code: https://github.com/marcushellberg/fusion-push-notifications
This is the pom.xml of my already existing Spring Boot project where I need to insert Vaadin framework and the related example project dependencies (needed to implement the desired behavior)

But it seems not work, I am obtaining a lot of error on this new version of my pom.xml
What am I missing? How can I try to correctly add Vaading framework to my original Spring Boot project?
I think the only real thing that is missing is the vaadin.version...
<properties>
<java.version>11</java.version>
<vaadin.version>19.0.8</vaadin.version> <!-- missing -->
</properties>
But you should avoid mixing spring versions, which sometimes can cause some problems.
Example: spring-boot-starter-parent:2.4.5 and spring-boot-starter-aop:2.6.3

Illegal character error after migration to spring 5

I am working on some legacy code. It has run under Spring (spring boot starter parent 0.5.0.M7) and Java 1.7, but the time has come to migrate. I decided to migrate to Spring 5 (spring boot starter parent 2.4.5) and Java 1.8. I have refactored to the point that the code compiles without errors or warnings, but when I try to run the code I get:
java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method)
at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source)
at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source)
at org.springframework.boot.loader.MainMethodRunner.run(MainMethodRunner.java:53)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
Caused by: java.lang.IllegalStateException: java.net.URISyntaxException: Illegal character in opaque part at index 11: jar:file:<my jarfile path redacted>!/
at org.springframework.boot.loader.ExecutableArchiveLauncher.<init>(ExecutableArchiveLauncher.java:41)
at org.springframework.boot.loader.JarLauncher.<init>(JarLauncher.java:30)
at org.springframework.boot.loader.JarLauncher.main(JarLauncher.java:45)
... 6 more
I have looked at the Procfile (which I didn't change in the migration) and the path there seems correct. The program is a web application which I try to run using the same command I did previously:
java -jar target/<my jar file name> --server.port=8020
I am unclear on how to track down the error.
I am running under windows 10 (both pre-migration and post-migration).
The code is built using maven. Running mvn --version returns 3.5.0.

Unable to create a Configuration, because no Bean Validation provider could be found - Vaadin 14 Spring Boot

I'm trying to use CRUD-add-on with Vaadin 14. But when I try to run this view:
#Route("configuration")
#JsModule("./styles/shared-styles.js")
#CssImport("./styles/views/main/main-view.css")
public class ConfigurationView extends AppLayout {
/**
*
*/
private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
public ConfigurationView(YoloObjectService yoloObjectService, ObjectNameService objectNameService) {
System.out.println(yoloObjectService == null);
System.out.println(objectNameService == null);
// crud instance
GridCrud<YoloObjectEntity> crud = new GridCrud<>(YoloObjectEntity.class);
// grid configuration
crud.getGrid().setColumns("email", "active", "objectName", "threshold");
crud.getGrid().setColumnReorderingAllowed(true);
// form configuration
crud.getCrudFormFactory().setUseBeanValidation(true);
crud.getCrudFormFactory().setVisibleProperties("email", "active", "threshold", "objectName");
crud.getCrudFormFactory().setFieldProvider("objectName", new ComboBoxProvider<>("Object Name", objectNameService.findAll(), new TextRenderer<>(ObjectNameEntity::getName), ObjectNameEntity::getName));
// layout configuration
setContent(crud);
crud.setFindAllOperationVisible(false);
// logic configuration
crud.setOperations(() -> yoloObjectService.findAll(),
user -> yoloObjectService.save(user),
user -> yoloObjectService.save(user),
user -> yoloObjectService.delete(user)
);
}
}
I get this error because of crud.getCrudFormFactory().setUseBeanValidation(true); above.

Reproduce issue:
To reproduce the issue, run the project and then go to http://localhost:8080 then to the configuration tab and press + sign. Now you will have two errors about Bean Validation.
https://github.com/DanielMartensson/Vaadin-DL4J-YOLO-Camera-Mail-Reporter
Question:
How can I find this Bean Validator?
Jakarta Bean Validation (previously Java Bean Validation) is an API, you need to provide an implementation of it in order to be able to use it. There are two, Hibernate Validator, and Apache BVal. You can add any of these to your pom.xml file. Depending on your runtime environment, you add these in different ways. Since it seems you are using Spring Boot, you can add the following dependency:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-validation</artifactId>
</dependency>
I recommend you read this tutorial to quickly get a better understanding of Jakarta Bean Validation. It's a very popular API and it's very likely that you'll find it in other projects in the future.
As is explained in a tutorial, you need to have an actual implementation class of a Jakarta Bean Validator available. In the linked tutorial there are a list of available dependencies shown that you can use, depending on your environment. I recommend reading the whole tutorial anyway.
So if you have a Java EE environment, add this to your pom:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate.validator</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-validator</artifactId>
<version>6.1.5.Final</version> /* check for the latest version at https://hibernate.org/validator/documentation/getting-started/ */
</dependency>
If you have Spring Boot, try this one:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-validation</artifactId>
</dependency>
And in case of Java SE, try this:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate.validator</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-validator</artifactId>
<version>6.1.5.Final</version> /* check for the latest version at https://hibernate.org/validator/documentation/getting-started/ */
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.glassfish</groupId>
<artifactId>jakarta.el</artifactId>
<version>3.0.3</version>
</dependency>

How to solve “Failed to instantiate WebApplicationInitializer class”

I found a good example for generating odata from MySQL at this GitHub repository
I can run the project by using the command mvn spring-boot:run -P jar inside the eclipse. The only part that I changed in comparison to the original code is my connection details to my local MySQL inside the application.properties file:
# WEB SERVER
server.port=9090
# MYSQL DATA SOURCE
spring.datasource.url = jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/olingo
spring.datasource.username = admin
spring.datasource.password = 123456
spring.datasource.testWhileIdle = true
spring.datasource.validationQuery = SELECT 1
# HANA (CLOUD) DB
#spring.datasource.jndi-name = java:comp/env/jdbc/DefaultDB
#spring.jpa.hibernate.ddl-auto = update
#spring.datasource.testWhileIdle = true
#spring.datasource.validationQuery = SELECT 1
# HSQL DB
#spring.datasource.platform=hsqldb
# JPA / HIBERNATE
spring.jpa.show-sql = false
spring.jpa.hibernate.ddl-auto = update
spring.jpa.hibernate.naming-strategy = org.hibernate.cfg.ImprovedNamingStrategy
# AZURE
#logging.path = D://home//LogFiles
And here is the pom.xml:

I can build the project with mvn clean install but when I deploy the war file inside the Tomcat it cannot run the app. It seems the same issue is the source of the problem!
Any help for solving this issue is appreciated.
I think you didn't let spring know about some bean class.
Look at your xml or configuration file for LoggerFactory
In the exception stack above,
it says java.lang.ClassNotFoundException occured.
Spring can't find class files even if you have them in your java src package.
If my answer doesn't solve your problem,
you need to show your xml or source code to make sure what the problem is.
I changed the pom.xml and removed the profiles, then I could build the project with mvn clean install which will result a war file that I can deploy in Tomcat.

However when I deploy it in the Tomcat it can access the database for some hours and after some hours it cannot anymore fetch data from MySQL!
When we want to run the app inside the Eclipse with Run on Server option, it needs to access the app after a success run like this http://localhost:9090/<artifactName>/ i.e. http://localhost:9090/odata/ in this case!

compile 'javax.jdo:jdo-api:3.1'
compile 'org.datanucleus:datanucleus-jodatime:3.2.1'
Why are you using very old and inconsistent jars ?
The jar "datanucleus-jpa" is so old it hasn't been used in a very long time AFAIK (all API jars are of the form datanucleus-api-XXX and have been for a long time).
Perhaps taking a step back and using something consistent would be a start. Google define the jars for GAE JPA (what you're using) here.
