Android: app crashing after launch activity [duplicate] - java

I have this app but for some reason I can't get it to work past the launch screen. After a user clicks an item on the listview it generates a random int in the activity and based on that changes the textView. If the user's input matches the right .contains strings it'll print out a toast.

How to save the data a user inputs into the device's local internal storage?

I'm developing a Grade/GPA Calculator app on Android during my free time. What the app basically does until now is let the user add Semesters in the Main Activity and when the user clicks on a certain Semester the user is redirected to another Activity where the user can add new Courses for that specific semester. The problem I'm having is that when the user hits on the back button to go to to the Main Activity where the Semesters are located the courses that were added in that semester are erased. The same happens when I go to the phone's homepage and re-launch the app, everything that the user had created has been deleted.
I'm pretty sure my problem is that I'm not saving the data that the user creates to the phone's storage/app's storage, but I can't seem to figure out on how to do this. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thanks!

There are a couple of databases you can look into; You can use Room or Realm. You can also check out online DBs like Firestore by Firebase. The beauty about having an online db a user(Student) can access their data from a different phone if they lose or replace their current one. A recommended way to go is to have both to cover both scenarios.

Reload Data on Spinner itemSelected

I guess i'm implementing the spinner onItemSelected inappropriately.
So i have spinner values loaded from my database. I'm trying to load data according to the spinner selected but the spinner doesn't persist and the id doesn't pass to the activity. It loads a default id of 1 instead of the selected spinner id. So i'm not sure if the spinner id is being passed. How do i check these and correct them?

**You are starting current activity as new and finish current activity, it means when you select any of items from spinner it will start a new activity and your on create executed again and again, so please place other logic or you can send your values in your activity using intent.putextra() and check in oncreate for null and if values is not null you can set spinner.setSelected(Your Position). Android - items are inserted twice into database

I am making a checklist app and whenever I delete a checklist and then create a new one, the database creates a copy of the items in the new checklist and displays that into the ListView.

I think your problem occurs because when you delete, you do not remove the deleted tag from the tags variable which currently holds all the tags. On the delete action you should also remove the deleted tag from this list. I rewrote a bit your switch statement over delete

The error lies in the Todo_Tags table. When you delete an item from a table, you should make sure that you are deleting that same item from any other tables if necessary otherwise it will cause issues when you are re-inserting any items.
