Android Service: Stopself is not killing my app service - java

I'm doing a Foreground service in my application, and when I'm calling the method Stopself inside the service it is calling my OnDestroy method but it's not killing my service. It still using memory, I check it through adb shell dumpsys meminfo.
I tried to call StopService too from my application but it's not working. I read a lot of posts from other people with the same problem, but they are using Handlers inside the Service. In my case I manage everything with a Singleton ThreadPool manager, that I already close with shutdown() method when app is closed.
It just happened when I close the app and my service still working. For example:
If I record a Fastmotion video and I wait until it is process, and later, I close my app. I don't have this memory lead. But, if I close the app then the service is processing this, It finish the processing, but I have a memory lead because Server is not killed.
So, hope that someone can see where it fails or what can I change to make this work. Here is my Service code:

Finally I call this methods in my onStart / onStop of my activity. Also, if it can help, in the services where I extend my BaseService, I put a START_NOT_STICKY flag to don't recreate the service when it's killed.

Android Request to server before application compeletly closed

I have just one Activity , when user close the application (from os clear list of recent apps) I want to send a request to my server api and change user status.
so I make IntentService and call it in my onDestroy() method of activity, but it dosn't work. how do it? is there any way else to do this(send request to server before application killed compeletly)?

Have you tried to return START_STICKY in the onStartCommand override?
After you sent your request you can then call stopService to stop yourself.
As far as I know, even sticky services might be "recreated" when you kill the app. So maybe, an Intent is not the best way to use here.
I'd go with SharedPreferences here:
The onCreate of your app sets the key "app_offline" to "false"
The onDestroy sets this key to "true" and starts the service
The service is START_STICKY and when it finds the "app_offline" as true, sends its request, updates "app_offline" to false (resets it) and then performs a self-shutdown.
Something like that.

Notification Android : Don't show notification when app is open?

I'm working on a project and I use Intent Service with wakefulBroadcastReceiver to schedule alarm and send notification. There are no problems this far. But I want when I open my app, it don't displaying notification again. Please any idea for this problem?.
In your notification receiver when you receive the notification you can check whether the app is in background or not and take a decision of showing the notification accordingly.

Alarm ringing stops when cleared from ram

I am making an alarm clock which asks user to do a particular work in order to close the alarm when it rings. It is working fine but the problem is that if the user closes the alarm app from the recent activities while the alarm is ringing, the alarm stops ringing. I want that even if the user clears the app while its ringing, it should not stop ringing. It should only stop once the task given is completed. How can I implement this?

You should use Services. Take a look at it, that is what you want it. Generally you can make it to run an operation, and a service wont return any result. But it runs indefinitely even when you kill the app from task manager or free RAM.
I suggest this tutorial for reading about services.

Accessing context from another thread

I am starting to migrate some PC Java applications to Android environments being a complete newbie concerning Android platform.
I found a problem when I tried to use a Service reference as context for a Toast message.

When the scheduled task runs reaching doToast call Android notifies that "Unfortunatelly, myAPP has stopped".
I think it has something to do with the fact I am using the service context in a different thread but I don't know for sure.
Could you confirm if that is the case? What is the right way to run a timer from a service and be able to use its context? If that is not possible, can I get a context for that thread so I can generate Toasts user messages.
It depends on what you really need, if you are planning to show simple notifications, maybe instead of toasts you can use Android notification bar (which is the standard way to show them). For example you can use:

however, if you just want toasts, you can show them from the service, your problem is that the timertask is being executed in a different thread that the UI thread (where the service is running). to "post" this code to the UI thread you can do it directly with something like this:

Any UI related code should be ran on the UI thread using RunOnUiThread method.
you should set a global context like this:

I just set up GCM in my Android App. But I have the problem that I don't know how to check if the device is already registered. I work with the new google play services library.
The register part looks like this:

Store the registration id in a databade table or shared preference and when app starting..check whether it is null or not

when you get registration Id, Store it in SharedPreferences, for example:

In the next time before you register check the "anyNameYouLike" if it contain field called RegID Like this:
