Spring and Jetty NoClassDefFound error [duplicate] - java

Why am I getting a NoClassDefFoundError in Java?

Closed 6 years ago.
Hi I am currently having an error with running tests on my spring application.
The error is:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org/eclipse/jetty/util/FutureCallback
This is my first time using spring and maven so I am quite confused.
I think it is an issue with my pom file, but I am not sure. Here is my pom.xml:

Update:
Issue was fixed by changing the jetty version to a more recent one

You have to add the following dependency to your Project:
<!-- https://mvnrepository.com/artifact/org.eclipse.jetty/jetty-util -->
<dependency>
<groupId>org.eclipse.jetty</groupId>
<artifactId>jetty-util</artifactId>
<version>9.3.10.v20160621</version>
</dependency>

Well, Spring Boot out-of-the-box includes Tomcat as its embedded server, you need to remove that dependency
<exclusions>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-tomcat</artifactId>
</exclusion>
</exclusions>
and replace it with Jetty
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-jetty</artifactId>
</dependency>
Also, you don't need all of those Boot dependencies. spring-boot-starter-data-rest already includes spring-boot-starter-data-jpa and spring-boot-starter-web, you can remove those, too.

Make sure that the jar file have the class which you are using.
You can open you repository (C:\Users\.m2\repository) navigate to you jar location, open the jar and see.
If that jar doesn't have the class,look for some other dependency which has that class and add that in you pom.xml.

Spring Boot Migration from 2.7 to 3.0.1 Lombok issues `cannot find sybol`

this post Spring Boot 3 Lombock I already read, it is exactly my issues but the solution does not help me.
The issue occured while migrating from Spring Boot 2.7 to 3.0.1. According to version of lombock both have 1.18.24, which to post above suggests using. See Spring 2.7.X and Spring 3.0.X. (Edit: I got those pages from Spring-Boot-3.0-Migration-Guide)
So I get following error while mvn clean compile on my Entities annotated with #Data

You have misunderstood something.
Spring CLI
The Spring Boot CLI is a command line tool that you can use to
bootstrap a new project from start.spring.io or encode a password.
CLI is not part of spring-boot-starter. CLI is only a command line tool used as the spring io initialized (Web) but executes from your local command line instead.
So the table that you have referenced in your question means that if you use Spring CLI and ask for lombok dependency in a spring-boot app of either 2.7 or 3.0.1 the initializer will provide you a newly created project where it would already have declared as dependency the lombok 1.18.24.
This would not mean that you don't have to have declared a specific lombok dependency in your spring boot project. spring-boot-starter-parent would not have one declared for you.
It is just that the CLI would make automatically this declaration in the pom of your new project if you choose to use the CLI for project creation.

Since Maven repo was unreachable many a times, reason could be any, network or porxy.
So DevOps team set up our own repo which we used to refer our dependencies.
it fixed the issue. Instead of maven repo we now use our Repo.

Unable to create a Configuration, because no Bean Validation provider could be found - Vaadin 14 Spring Boot

I'm trying to use CRUD-add-on with Vaadin 14. But when I try to run this view:
#Route("configuration")
#JsModule("./styles/shared-styles.js")
#CssImport("./styles/views/main/main-view.css")
public class ConfigurationView extends AppLayout {
/**
*
*/
private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
public ConfigurationView(YoloObjectService yoloObjectService, ObjectNameService objectNameService) {
System.out.println(yoloObjectService == null);
System.out.println(objectNameService == null);
// crud instance
GridCrud<YoloObjectEntity> crud = new GridCrud<>(YoloObjectEntity.class);
// grid configuration
crud.getGrid().setColumns("email", "active", "objectName", "threshold");
crud.getGrid().setColumnReorderingAllowed(true);
// form configuration
crud.getCrudFormFactory().setUseBeanValidation(true);
crud.getCrudFormFactory().setVisibleProperties("email", "active", "threshold", "objectName");
crud.getCrudFormFactory().setFieldProvider("objectName", new ComboBoxProvider<>("Object Name", objectNameService.findAll(), new TextRenderer<>(ObjectNameEntity::getName), ObjectNameEntity::getName));
// layout configuration
setContent(crud);
crud.setFindAllOperationVisible(false);
// logic configuration
crud.setOperations(() -> yoloObjectService.findAll(),
user -> yoloObjectService.save(user),
user -> yoloObjectService.save(user),
user -> yoloObjectService.delete(user)
);
}
}
I get this error because of crud.getCrudFormFactory().setUseBeanValidation(true); above.

Reproduce issue:
To reproduce the issue, run the project and then go to http://localhost:8080 then to the configuration tab and press + sign. Now you will have two errors about Bean Validation.
https://github.com/DanielMartensson/Vaadin-DL4J-YOLO-Camera-Mail-Reporter
Question:
How can I find this Bean Validator?
Jakarta Bean Validation (previously Java Bean Validation) is an API, you need to provide an implementation of it in order to be able to use it. There are two, Hibernate Validator, and Apache BVal. You can add any of these to your pom.xml file. Depending on your runtime environment, you add these in different ways. Since it seems you are using Spring Boot, you can add the following dependency:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-validation</artifactId>
</dependency>
I recommend you read this tutorial to quickly get a better understanding of Jakarta Bean Validation. It's a very popular API and it's very likely that you'll find it in other projects in the future.
As is explained in a tutorial, you need to have an actual implementation class of a Jakarta Bean Validator available. In the linked tutorial there are a list of available dependencies shown that you can use, depending on your environment. I recommend reading the whole tutorial anyway.
So if you have a Java EE environment, add this to your pom:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate.validator</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-validator</artifactId>
<version>6.1.5.Final</version> /* check for the latest version at https://hibernate.org/validator/documentation/getting-started/ */
</dependency>
If you have Spring Boot, try this one:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-validation</artifactId>
</dependency>
And in case of Java SE, try this:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.hibernate.validator</groupId>
<artifactId>hibernate-validator</artifactId>
<version>6.1.5.Final</version> /* check for the latest version at https://hibernate.org/validator/documentation/getting-started/ */
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.glassfish</groupId>
<artifactId>jakarta.el</artifactId>
<version>3.0.3</version>
</dependency>

Correct the classpath of your application so that it contains a single, compatible version of javax.persistence.JoinColumn

How could I solve this issue?
Correct the classpath of your application so that it contains a single, compatible version of javax.persistence.JoinColumn

I am facing an error when I create jar with dependencies. I get following error when I run the jar:
Error: Could not find or load main class com.faro.engine.MainAppLoader
here is my pom.xml file

I am able to run it in eclipse. but some ho when I generate jar, I get error 'Could not find or load main class com.faro.engine.MainAppLoader
here is my pom file'.
any ideas please?
thanks in advance :)
Some things you could check:
Is MainAppLoader under com.faro.engine package?
Is MainAppLoader annotated with #SpringBootApplication?
The spring-boot-maven-plugin already assembles your application as a jar with dependencies. Do you really need the maven-assembly-plugin?
As a sanity check, you could try replacing your plugin declaration with.
<plugins>
<plugin>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-maven-plugin</artifactId>
</plugin>
</plugins>
