I am unable to figure out how to place a button on the top right of the screen on Google Maps Activity I am new to Android development and am unable to find a straight forward explanation on how to do this. My main activity code looks like this:

It's simple.
Add the menu to the activity where you have the fragment and you will have the button there. Add a single menu item only.

I have created a standard Google Maps Activity in my app in Android Studio and the map works as expected.
My Activity is called 'NativeMap' and then the activity starts I see a ToolBar/AppBar at the top of the activity with the text "NativeMap".
The layout file for the activity is standard and calls a maps fragment:

(Note that I have switched this class to extend AppCompatActivity to get the bar to appear at the top, when it extends FragmentActivity no top bar appears at all.)
How can I access this toolbar or replace it with a standard toolbar.
I also want to add a drawer menu to this activity, but everything looks so abstracted via this fragment inclusion that I have no idea how to.
I've been Googling for about a week now and can't find anything that even seems to point me in the right direction with this.
I figured it out.
androidx.fragment.app.FragmentContainerView can only contain fragments, so the base container in the layout needed to be changed.
I changed it to a <androidx.drawerlayout.widget.DrawerLayout to allow the main menu drawer to be included. (called "_drawer" in the tree view below)
Inside the DrawerLayout I added a androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout to contain the main layout components, including the map fragment and the toolbar. (The contraint layout is called "mainLayout" in the treeview below)
The toolbar was then added inside a com.google.android.material.appbar.AppBarLayout.
The map fragment was then added in a <fragment> tag below the AppBarLayout.
This works as expected.

I am developping an Android app which involves a PickLocationActivity.java. This activity should allow user to drag(move) the map, and when they hit a submitButton, the location(longitute and latitute) of current camera's center should be collected. I am trying this by setting a Pin above the map and in the center of the layout in the xml file, just like this:

So the goal is after user moves the map and clicks the submit button, collect the location of pin and show it in log.
In logcat, I filter the messages by pick but it always returns nothing. I wonder if it is correct to use mMap.getCameraPosition().target to get the location of pin?
I'm still new to the Android and I want to add a CardView to the activity each time a button is clicked. The CardView has text on it and a background image. I already have the XML file that can add this, but because I want to be able to add more than one, I can't use <include.>. The first image is when the button is clicked once and the second is when the button is clicked 3 times. I already have the onClick for the TextView that says "Click To Add Block" and the XML for the CardView, but I can't make it so that you can add them and change the text in the TextView in each and every one of them. I also can't seem to find a way to programmatically add an onClick listener to the programmatically created CardView. Later down the line, I would also like to be able to delete the CardView from a click of a button too.

Android Studio is giving me errors in the Main Activity Java over unresolved symbols or id's. As far as I can see the id's refrenced in the java code exist.
In another app which used these same principles, it worked, I cross refrenced the two apps and could not find anything that stood out.

Use FrameLayout. Each item added to FrameLayout is on top of the previous one, like in this example the second TextView is on top of the frist one, but since it is not fully opaque, you can see them both!

Now all you need to do is show/hide the overlayed items and you are good to go.

Note that I added a line on your ImageView which runs a function when clicked, now on your java file add this function:
//The onClick on xml requires a function of signature void(View) which is the clicked view (in this case the ImageView)

This will make the RelativeLayout that contains the overlay views (including the ImageView which is clicked) to not only be invisible but not to interfere with anything. It also ignores input to it.
In case I misunderstood anything about your question feel free to correct me (I'm not sure I understood that completely).
Also if you want it to fade in or out or something like that you can do it with an AlphaAnimation.
