Cannot make the button wider by Java Code - java

I don't know what is the problem. I am creating the simple phone-book, so i have name of abonent, image and call button under the name. And when i try to set width with the layoutParams parameter for button, it doesn't change anything, btn.setWidth(); doesn't work either.

your button is using LayoutParams to set width and heigth so you need to change this properties here (LinearLayout.LayoutParams(widht, height)):
LinearLayout.LayoutParams imageparams = new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(500, 300);
and the size of your button must change, because you are setting this values.
btn.setLayoutParams(imageparams);

Android - How to set TextInputEditText dynamically while incrementing the hint and adding a scroll view?

I'm trying to get my button to create a new TextInputEditText field every time the user presses the button. So far I've managed to dynamically add a field but I can't figure out how to increment the hint of the EditText.

Add multiple lines to a LinearLayout in AlertDialog

In my app, I have a button that when pressed, displays an AlertDialog with the question to add an entry with two NumberPickers, one for Minutes and the other for seconds. I would like to display a TextView with "Min" above the minutes one, and one with "Sec" above the seconds one. The Java file looks like this:

The AlertDialog gives a result where the Seconds appear next to the NumberPicker and the NumberPickers appear under each other.
How can I add the NumberPickers next to each other with the text above them?

this will cause LinearLayout upper to be on the left and LinearLayout lower on the right (thanks to parent orientation HORIZONTAL), so change their names... then set their orientation for VERTICAL

and now you have two vertical containers, left and right, with equal width, and you can add to both some elements, e.g. at first TextView, after that NumberPicker, both with width MATCH_PARENT to fulfil (half of width of whole Dialog)

Android Studio: Programmatically Instantiating Horizontal Linear Layouts Not Working

Finally found a workaround: I decided to just use a table with a single row and then set stretchAllColumns to true. This means it just mimics a horizontal layout with spread-out views.
I am trying to instantiate a horizontal linear layout at runtime and I would like the elements in the layout to spread out along the full width of the layout. I would also like everything to be center-vertical aligned. This is currently what I've got:

tertiaryLinearLayout.setLayoutParams(new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(LinearLayout.LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LinearLayout.LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT));
tertiaryLinearLayout.setOrientation(LinearLayout.HORIZONTAL);
tertiaryLinearLayout.setGravity(Gravity.FILL_HORIZONTAL);
This instantiates the layout but the elements in it don't correctly fill the full width of it. I am also not sure how I can get them to be center-vertical aligned without changing setGravity to
tertiaryLinearLayout.setGravity(Gravity.CENTER_VERTICAL);
This TextView is one of the five elements I add to the layout:

The overall structure is a ScollView with a vertical LinearLayout. This LinearLayout holds lots of other vertical LinearLayouts, each with a horizontal LinearLayout. Hope that makes sense.

I guess that the PARENT view that the tertiaryLinearLayout will be added to is wrap_content for the layout_width. Try to make its width match_parent. You should have a look on this tutorial at 2:52s

How to have dynamically a fixed header with scrollable content in Android?

I have created programmatically a RelativeLayout which contains a button. I have also created a ScrollView which contains a LinearLayout in which are more than 10 TextViews. I want to have the RelativeLayout to be aligned top and fixed. When someone tries to scroll down, i want all the TextViews to go behind the fixed RelativeLayout. I want that button to be always visible. With this code, the RelativeLayout and the button are not displayed. Where am i wrong?

In your code you replace your RelativeLayout with ScrollView. Just set firstly some LinearLayout as contentView and then put there your RelativeLayout via addView(relativeLayout) and the put there you scrollView also via addView(scrollView)

How to set align of view without xml in android

I don't use xml in my UI.

The Edittext's must be X position = 0 and Y position = 0 of MainScreen.
The Button's must be X position = 0 and Y position = 0 of MainScreen.
But the Button taking referance is the Edittext and it takes position in X:0,Y:70 of MainScreen.

If my LinearLayout that's LinLay is Horizontal, the button takes position in X:300,Y:0 of MyScreen. I want to taking position in MainScreen. I don't want to taking referance. Help me.

Change your LinearLayout and use RelativeLayout, remove orientation. add your product relatively, this will solve your issue.
