Android: How can I know CSS injection is complete? - java

I am trying to show my webview only after I inject the CSS file to the HTML.
I have tried to put it on onPageCommitVisible function, but it works only 23 apis andd above. Someone knows how can I show the webview only after the CSS has fininshed to load? Now it "jumps" and I see the original CSS for the first one second, before the new one is replaced.
#Override
public void onPageFinished(WebView view, String url) {
Utils.logDebug(this, "Page finished");
if (android.os.Build.VERSION.SDK_INT < 23) {
injectCSS(view);
}
super.onPageFinished(view, url);
showWebView(true);
onPageChange();
}
This is my InjestCSS function:
private void injectCSS(WebView webView) {
try {
webView.loadUrl("javascript:(function() {" +
"var css = document.createElement(\"style\");\n" +
"css.type = \"text/css\";\n" +
"css.innerHTML = \"" + readFileAsString() + "\";\n" +
"document.body.appendChild(css);" +
"})()");
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}
}
This function inject the CSS code to the HTML, as you can see in the function.

There are few places where you can handle this.
You could use evaluateJavaScript instead of loadUrl (API level 19) and pass callback in which you will set webview visible.
You could register your own javascript interface using addJavaScriptInterface and call it on the end of your script
You could set WebChromeClient and override onJsAlert then in your script raise alert with specific message.
UPDATE: Additionally this could be achieved by intercepting one of 'css' request, and append loaded file with needed content. This will allow you to inject your styles right before onPageFinished. Check this this thread.
All approaches I have combined in following example:

i want to change the String to int from this part:
final String strInput = new String(buffer, 0, i);
so i can use it on this part :
if(data < hi){
Log.d(TAG, "succes");
}
i tried to use
int data = Integer.parseInt(strInput);
but well of course it span error because its string buffer and only the first one is changed
so how do i solve this prob?if any one can help
I already tried using arraylist but still error

The error message is telling you what is wrong. Your input appears to be "40 and " is not a numeric character. You need make sure your inputted strings are numeric OR you need to extract the numeric component from the string BEFORE attempting to convert it into an integer. You could try new String(buffer, 1, i) if the character at index 0 is always the double quote character.
UPDATE:
Based on your last comment posted here, you need to initialize your strInput as follows (This is an example):
byte[] bytes = new byte[5];
bytes[0] = 49; // this is the ASCII value of the number "1"
bytes[1] = '\u0000'; // These are null characters
bytes[2] = '\u0000';
bytes[3] = '\u0000';
bytes[4] = '\u0000';
String temp = new String(bytes); // convert the byte array to String
String str = temp.substring(0, temp.indexOf('\u0000')); // parse the numeric contents
System.out.println(str); // You should see "1" printed out
int number = Integer.parseInt(str); // Because I parsed the numeric contents, it is safe to convert the String to a number.

Getting the value from textview

Hello guys I got a code that I do for my project, the code is to get the value of the heartbeat sensor from Arduino to my android phone using Bluetooth. So far it's going well it can send the value to my app without a problem. but the problem now is I want to get the value of it so I can use my algorithm with it, but seems like I got in a pickle now.

What i want is to get the value of mTxtReceive on this :
int txtLength = mTxtReceive.getEditableText().length();
if(txtLength > mMaxChars){
mTxtReceive.getEditableText().delete(0, txtLength - mMaxChars);
System.out.println(mTxtReceive.getText().toString());
}
I used System.out.println for seeing if i got the value but in the log it didn't show any thing.
So i need you guys wisdom for this any help?
Your view mTextReceive seems to be a TextView and therefore not editable:
private TextView mTxtReceive;
If it's not an EditText (editable) mTxtReceive.getEditableText will return null see docs
and getText should be called instead see docs.
Therefore your condition might always resolve from
if(txtLength > mMaxChars) into if(null > 50000) which is always false (or actually it might even crash before) and therefore your code inside the if-block is never executed
Try:
// recommended for debugging. Check if this is even called and if text length is really longer than max chars
Log.d(TAG, "text length:" + mTxtReceive.getText().length());
int txtLength = mTxtReceive.getText().length();
if(txtLength > mMaxChars){
// not sure what operation you want to do here but leave out for debugging
Log.d(TAG, "text longer than allowed:" + mTxtReceive.getText().toString());
}
Also use Log.d instead of System.out.println since your log might otherwise not be forwarded to Logcat. Also are you sure this block is executed at all? I'd put a Log.d(TAG, "text length:" + mTxtReceive.getText().length()); outside of the condition for debugging purposes. And finally the obvious question would be if the txtLength is even longer than max chars (and that would be quite a long text with 50000 chars). But you can verify that simply with the recommended log outside the block as well.

Track FTP upload data in android?

I have a working FTP system with android, but I want to be able to track the bytes as they get uploaded, so I can update a progress bar as the upload progresses. Is this possible with Android? Right now, I'm using org.apache.common.net.ftp and the code I'm using is below. Also, I am running this in an AsyncTask.
package com.dronnoc.ftp.complex;
import java.io.BufferedInputStream;
import java.io.ByteArrayInputStream;
import java.io.IOException;
import java.io.InputStream;
import java.io.OutputStream;
import java.net.SocketException;
import org.apache.commons.net.ftp.FTPClient;
import org.apache.commons.net.io.CopyStreamEvent;
import org.apache.commons.net.io.CopyStreamListener;
import org.apache.commons.net.io.Util;
import android.app.Activity;
import android.os.AsyncTask;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.util.Log;
import android.view.Window;
public class Main extends Activity {
/** Called when the activity is first created. */
#Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_INDETERMINATE_PROGRESS);
setContentView(R.layout.main);
String text = "BIGFILE"; //Big file here
InputStream data = new ByteArrayInputStream(text.getBytes());
new ComplexFTPTransfer().execute(data);
}
private class ComplexFTPTransfer extends AsyncTask<InputStream, Long[], Void>
{
private FTPClient ftp = null;
#Override
protected void onPreExecute() {
super.onPreExecute();
try {
ftp = new FTPClient();
ftp.connect("hostname");
} catch (SocketException e) {
this.cancel(true);
} catch (IOException e) {
this.cancel(true);
}
Main.this.setProgressBarIndeterminateVisibility(true);
}
#Override
protected Void doInBackground(InputStream... params) {
if(!this.isCancelled())
{
try
{
if(ftp.login("user", "pass"))
{
ftp.enterLocalPassiveMode();
InputStream item = params[0];
int streamSize = 0;
while(item.read() != -1)
{
streamSize++;
}
InputStream is = new BufferedInputStream(params[0], streamSize);
OutputStream os = ftp.storeFileStream("/test.txt");
Util.copyStream(is, os, streamSize, streamSize, new CopyStreamListener() {
#Override
public void bytesTransferred(long totalBytesTransferred, int bytesTransferred, long streamSize) {
publishProgress(new Long[] {totalBytesTransferred, streamSize});
}
#Override
public void bytesTransferred(CopyStreamEvent event) {
}
});
ftp.completePendingCommand();
}
ftp.logout();
ftp.disconnect();
}
catch (IOException e) {
}
catch (Exception e) {
}
}
return null;
}
#Override
protected void onProgressUpdate(Long[]... values) {
super.onProgressUpdate(values);
Log.d("UPDATE", values[0] + " of " + values[1] + " copied.");
//TODO Put code here
}
#Override
protected void onPostExecute(Void result) {
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
super.onPostExecute(result);
Main.this.setProgressBarIndeterminateVisibility(false);
}
}
}
What I want to know is if I can run a progress bar, updating every few uploaded bytes?
Cheers
This question has an implementation of an InputStream that includes a progress callback. Use that InputStream and call publishProgress from that callback for incremental updates during the file upload.

This can be done using Secure FTP Factory library.
You just need to implement an instance of the com.jscape.inet.ftp.FtpListener interface, register the instance with the Ftp class and overload the progress(FtpProgressEvent event) method to capture progress information.

How to call this android bluetooth printing program from phonegap javascript?

i was made a bluetooth printer application (android based) for printing some text using datecs DPP-350 printer device. this program use a datecs external library such as bluetoohconnector and RFComm package. it works nicely, here's the code:

import java.io.OutputStream;
import com.djarum.MobilePrinter1.BluetoothConnector;

import com.datecs.api.printer.ProtocolAdapter;
import com.datecs.api.printer.ProtocolAdapter.Channel;
import android.app.Activity;
import android.app.AlertDialog;
import android.app.ProgressDialog;
import android.content.DialogInterface;
import android.content.DialogInterface.OnDismissListener;
import android.graphics.Bitmap;
import android.graphics.BitmapFactory;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.os.Handler;

the main problems now is how to call this program from phonegap? i've tried using droidGap but it will give me error when i start the printer's thread. has anyone know how to solved this?? many thanks..
I dont think that you can invoke too many APIs from the standard android browser (except some like location, contacts n all), but what is possible is other way round embedding a webview in a native app(which can be your above mentioned thread code) and invoking this code from a Javascript event using JavaScript Interface apis of android platform (which is pretty straight forward).
