Evenly spacing buttons android - java

I'm currently working on an android application. I can't get buttons evenly spaced on a screen.

I want the buttons evenly spaced down the screen below the image. At the minute the image is where I want to be however I can't get the buttons to where I want them to be. I'm trying to use the gui designer however they won't snap into place. I'm trying to figure out the code way to do it.
Any help appreciated.


In Order to divide the buttons on the whole screen evenly and to maintain synchronization on all devices you need to use a LinearLayout
as your parent View And and another LinearLayout as the parent for each button and apply to it the weight attribute to divide them evenly on the screen Cause you can't just apply the weight attribute on the button itself because the (height or width of it depends on if the layout orintation is horizontal or vertical will gets scaled to fill the whole space) here is a code snippet to demonstrate what am saying

App crashes when </ScrollView> put at end

full file follows: trying to have full scroll vertical in android device but putting scroll view at end of file produces crash

when ScrollView added after Relative layout file won't open put it in brackets proceeded with backslash /
perhaps something I put in between the first and last ScrollView?
I noticed in the examples you show, scrollview appears in the beginning.

I reproduced your activity and after I removed the 2 backgrounds:
android:background="#mipmap/lpussy"
android:background="#mipmap/campa"
the activity does open fine.
Of course the scrollview is useless the way you use it, it must contain 1 container layout and inside that container all the views that you want to scroll.
Remove the backgrounds as well and try again. Maybe the problem is there.

To make RelativeLayout scrollable, put it inside LinearLayout and
then put that LinearLayout inside ScrollView. This will solve the
problem.

As per your xml,
Its better to swap the top two element tags in your xml file.
So that yor RelativeLayout will become a child of ScrollView. and You dont have to edit your remaining layout elements

how to center crop a background image of linear layout?

Hi i had to make a layout with card with recyclerview so for that i set an image as a background to linear layout but now i'm unable to center crop that image
My problem is that i cannot use imageview because using that the height of card increases as well and i don't want that so please if someone can assit me..

You can't center crop a background image of linear layout,
But you can achieve the same using these changes:
Replace you LinearLayout with RelativeLayout
Place a ImageView as a first child inside relative layout and use property for center crop.

CenterCrop logic is baked inside ImageView. The correct solution is to extract it into a Drawable which wraps another Drawable and centerCrops it.

Image in layout is not completely on top, where I want it

Edit, it's on top, now it's zoomed in
If it's possible, i would want it to fill the entire screen, width wise, with the image, completely on top, leaving no space between the top and the image. This is not working for me.

android:layout_alignParentTop="true" on the parent of the ImageView is ignored because its parent (the root view) is not a RelativeLayout. Try changing the root view to RelativeLayout, and remove its padding (at least the top one).

RelativeLayout inside Scrollview in android

I am stuck in a problem and not able find any solution. This problem may sound very naive but I am really unable to figure out the exact cause. I have a ScrollView ans inside that I have a RelativeLayout. But my RelativeLayout is not scrolling irrespective of the content. I just run your code, it cannot scroll because height of relative layout not enough. You only scroll when height of ScrollView smaller than height of ScrollView's child.
You can change RelativeLayout's height from wrap_content to 1000dp to test scroll.

How to show three labels and spinner just below my textbox?

I am working with android and I have designed my xml in which I am showing three buttons at the bottom of my screen and also I am showing a textbox (textboxA) at the center of my screen along with three buttons at the bottom of the screen.
Now I would like to show three labels and three spinners just below the textboxA Is possible to do? I tried using the below code but some of my labels and spinners are off

If you are using RelativeLayout you should use toLeftOf or above or below xml properties in the items to define their positions
