ElasticSearch 5.2.2 socket read timed out - java

I moved from 2.2 to 5.2.2 of ES. I've been running some tests and have been getting two errors (one from logger and one from ES)
Logger:

ES (I think this is unrelated to the first error, but still):
[WARN ][o.e.m.j.JvmGcMonitorService] [PnpfiI6] [gc][9162] overhead, spent [1.1s] collecting in the last [1.6s]
Jest is properly set up as a singleton called once as such:
factory.setHttpClientConfig(new HttpClientConfig.Builder(elasticHost).defaultSchemeForDiscoveredNodes("https").multiThreaded(true)
.readTimeout(180000).build());
I tried toggling the settings, turning multiThreaded on and off, adding and upping readTimeout and even connTimeout (though for production it seems like a mistake to do this).
I have especially large document that I think might be causing the timeout, but we aren't having this issue in 2.2. It's similar to a open issue on
Jest's github:
https://github.com/searchbox-io/Jest/issues/396
Any ideas on how to resolve this? And why this error does not appear on 2.2?

Add the jar somewhere such that eclipse can find it and use the driver from the jar to connect to the database. Refer the below screenshot which might be helpful to you. Otherwise you can always add it to your projects classpath.
Below is the graphical way to do it.

The same code and deployment works without error on my local tomcat apache server, but not on that of my web host provider.
Thoughts?
Apparently the error logged is related to my Script object but is not the real problem. The issue was we neglected to update the database table schema at our web host provider site.

Please close the connection once you are done with the connection, then only the connection returns to the pool. One suggestion, you can shift to BoneCP its more active project right now and also have a good feedbacks from production. C3P0 support is not there any more.

I'm using Solr 4.3 with tomcat7. When the number of concurrent writes and reads increase it is crash throwing this SocketException error. I do concurrent commits and searches through multiple clients. Any kind of help is appreciated. Here is the tomcat log(catalina.out) and solr.log

This is more low level error. I found this question&answers in stackoverflow and the summary of the solutions is to verify if you are really closing all the sockets (it would be indirectly due the framework) and check if it doesn't have other exceptions swallowed (like it needs more memory).
The peer has closed the connection. For example, the browser tab has been closed, or has navigated away to another page. There is nothing you can or need to do about it at your end. You can't write any more response, so stop trying.
