For DB i use local SQL Server. Create method is working correctly but not and in the current #Controller servler
Make sure you have correct JAR file in your CLASSPATH for com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
JAR file for that would be sqljdbc41.jar, if this is not in your CLASSPATH, then you have to add it. Hibernate will not provide 3rd party JAR files for JDBC Drivers.

For most people who had the same issue it seems that they were using the table name instead of the entity name. However, in my case, I think I'm using the correct entity name. I also tried removing the arguments and body of the constructor of the User but didn't help.

For some reason, the annotation is not being processed. You either need to create a mapping file and include in your config, https://www.tutorialspoint.com/hibernate/hibernate_mapping_files.htm or as long as I remember there is a way to specify annotation configuration during hibernate session creation where you specify annotated entities. You are probably missing that part. Please, check this for reference Add Annotated Class in Hibernate by adding all classes in some package. JAVA

I am getting in EmployeeServiceImpl.java on this line

It seems I am getting null from validateLogin function although I am return value from validateLogin function. Why I am getting null?

It seems EmployeeDAO is not being injected in EmployeeServiceImpl, wire EmployeeDAO using #Autowire or #Inject, Second EmployeeDAOImpl has not been declared a component (not sure if you have declared already in xml) so declare it with #Repository and also #Autowire SessionFactory. Hope this will do..
From the stacktrace it appears your code never calls validateLogin on the dao. The dao is null because there's nothing telling Spring to wire your DAO into your service. Add an #Autowired annotation to the setter in the service for the dao, similar to what you have in the controller wiring the service into it.

I recently moved from the .Net world to the Java world.

I've used Hibernate's eclipse's tool to reverse engineer an existing database containing about 400+ tables; It generated all the models nicely, but I can't do anything with the models, persist for example throws the exception in the title.

If there's a better way to reverse engineer a database using hibernate and maven, please advise (I used the eclipse tool and moved the files to where they should be) or if the exception can be sorted out, that would be super.
Spring-Roo's Database Reverse Engineering tool works without problems, instead of using the Hibernate RevEng tool, I've successfully reverse engineered a db using Spring Roo:
