Java cucumber - java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: gherkin.parser.Parser.parse

Trying to implement cucumber to do some automated tests. When I run my tests using junit I am getting below error

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError with Cucumber-JVM Project

I am getting this error in java in when I try to run the project as JUNIT project. How ever I can run my feature when I go to my feature file and right click and run as Cucumber feature .
What should I do..?

I am using eclipse and mysql5.5.38 on linux server

Make sure the directory and files all have the same file/directory ownership.
I had this issue while upgrading gerrit and tried all possibilities and finally found that some of the directories and files under gerrit were owner by root and not the user with which am starting gerrit.
chmod -R user:group *
