Notification not showing using NotificationManager

I'm sending push notifications in my app and want to be able to show them even if the app is already running, so therefore I'm trying to use the onMessageReceived() function. The function runs whenever I send a notification and I can see that the title and body of the notification is correct, so no problems this far. Then I want the notification to pop up on the users device, but for some reason I just can't get it to work. I have looked at numerous sites and stackoverflow questions and all code basically looks the same, so it's a bit confusing why it doesn't work for me.

It never prints the last line ("Everything went fine"), but also don't give an error so it seems it works even though it didn't. What is the problem and how do I fix it?

There seem to have been a recent update which requires you to run some additional code in order for it to work on newer android versions. So the code should looks something like:

Unable to create notifications in android

I have typed the following function to get notifications in android.
But I get an error which says Failed to post notification on channel "null". I know that I'm missing some piece of code which seems to be inserted for devices running on some newer versions.
Can I get the exact code to be inserted?

In your builder, you can add the channelID, for example:

Notification not Showing from Service

I searched many other questions related to this topic but found not satisfactory answer also none of them are working for me.
I want to show a continuous notification which should only be terminated by app. But the code i wrote was working a few days ago but not now.

There is no exception recorded in Logcat, regarding ths. The code is called in onCreate of service. The service is starting correctly i can see in Log cat also there is no exception but notification is not shown. My OS is Android ONE for nokia (PI)

You are using a deprecated NotificationCompat.Builder constructor which takes a single argument (context); and that won't work on starting from Android 8.0 (API level 26).
So, to solve this:
Step 1: Create a Notification channel with the NotificationManager

Did you check your strings (title and body) is not null if it's null notification wont show
Also check that you call your notification channels when you start your service every time if your android above 7.0
Clear notification when you recall it same id in your case is 1.

Add a custom notification led light

I have a phone under Android 8 and I begin Android programmation with Android Studio. Some apps like Snapchat or Facebook makes my phone light a led with their custom colors (yellow & blue) when a notification comes.
I want to do the same with my app, I searched a lot and nothing works, the notification appears but not the white light. I checked my phone settings and my app is allowed to light the led.

I tried calling the setLights() and setVibrate() after setContentText() and I tried calling these voids just before the notify() but it didn't changed anything.

Use this line of code to change notification LED color: your_notification.ledARGB = Color.YOUR_COLOR;
Usage example:
NotificationManager notif = (NotificationManager) getSystemService(Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE);
notif.cancel(1); // clear previous notification
final Notification notification = new Notification();
notification.ledARGB = Color.MAGENTA;
notification.ledOnMS = 1000;
notification.flags |= Notification.FLAG_SHOW_LIGHTS;
notif.notify(1, notification);
Note : screen should be locked when you test it , because notification LED will be highlighted only when screen is off. Maybe that's your problem.

How to show just notification count on appview android

But the thing is I just want that notification unread count on code appview on system, but dont want other things loke message, title etc that appear on notification tray of system. How come this be acheived>

It's not possible to replace launcher icon with widget. You can say to user to place your widget on the home screen, but not in application list. Users must do that in their own. Nevertheless, it's iOs pattern. It's not good idea to bring iOS design elements to android. Android have great notification bar, where user expect to see notification from your app. Android users don't expect to see it over the icon.
