Maven project sourcing old spring dependencies not part of the pom.xml in Eclipse

My maven java project is sourcing versions of spring libraries that are not defined in my pom.xml
My pom.xml does not have any references to v3.0.5 for spring dependencies.
A snippet of my pom.xml:

However when I do a mvn clean -U compile package, I am getting v3.0.5 of the spring libraries in my target:
Can someone help me with how I can remove the outdated/ out of version spring libraries which seem to be sourced 'automatically' without being included in my pom please.

Add an element in the element by which the problematic jar is getting fetched or included.these unwanted version of the libs are coming as transitive dependency from one of the mentioned dependency entry in your POM.xml. Use you eclipse or IntelliJ dependence tree to din out the jar that is bringing those transitive dependency and then exclude them fro that element .

When I start intellij I get the following error in every single bean and "org.springframework.aop.support.DefaultBeanFactoryPointcutAdvisor";

Check that you have spring-aspects in your classpath.
Maven:

I had the same issue with the following dependency

When I have replaced it by

The problem has totally gone.
I would like to mention that I am using inconsistent versions for aspectj, but the project still works.

It can not find ReflectionWorld class. Make sure that AspectJ Weaver libraries (aspectjweaver-1.8.9.jar) available in your libs directory.
Right click on your project -> Open Module Settings -> Dependencies
-> Add (+) -> Library... -> From Maven -> search for org.aspectj:aspectjweaver:1.8.9 and download the dependencies.

I encountered the same problem. In IntellijIDEA, in addition to the need to declare dependencies for an ordinary maven project, you can also check whether your output directory has corresponding dependencies. If not, you can try to put into from the right. this worked for mePut into lib

I have these two dependencies in my POM which are i think creating this issue but i have tried many different ways and updated versions but nothing worked for me. Can someone please help.

Solution to your Question
It seems there is a JAR conflict while managing your dependencies.
In Spring 4.2.0, the ClassVisitor class have been included in Spring-core-4.2.0.RELEASE.jar, Please find the below image. Hence there is no need to include spring-asm-3.1.3.RELEASE.jar which I have found in your dependencies.
It is always recommended to use Bill of Materials when you are using Spring 3.2.X and above versions.
Please remove the CGLIB Proxy from dependency, as it is no longer needed when you are using Spring 3.2.X version and above. Please refer the spring-framework documentation for this.
Finally your POM should be like this below. Humbly requesting you to ignore the hibernate and slf4j dependencies.

I know i probably put together different versions which don't work together but i don;t know how to figure out where. I'm new to maven and spring and this is a common problem i have so can you tell me what's wrong here and how to recognize on the future incompatible versions ?

To see whether different dependencies are used, open the pom.xml (in Eclipse)
Click on the Dependency Hierarchy tab (bottom)
Here you can see whether there are conflicts between dependencies, and how they are related with your code and the hierarchy of directly or indirectly imported dependencies.
Also what helps, is to check whether you've imported the last versions, by calling (see https://stackoverflow.com/a/2687228/928952 for an example)
mvn versions:display-dependency-updates

What are the minimum jars needed for spring to be used in a standalone application?

him i am using spring in a standalone application for Dependency injection, MessageSource & PropertyPlaceHolder support, Hibernate/JDBC support,unit testing, and i was wondering what are the minimum jars needed for above requirements, and if i can exclude some jars or dependencies form my current configuration, since i don't need the application size to be big as it's a standalone application, i need to make the application size as small as i can, here's the dependencies i am using right now:

It is possible that some of the transitive dependencies may be unused, but there is no automated way to determine this. You can exclude all transitive dependencies to start with (using excludes tag), build/run the app and keep adding appropriate dependencies, when you get an error. Some of them would fail compilation, others fail app at runtime.
