How Do i Get all the Values When Sending String Values from one Activity to Another in Android Studio 3.4

Please am designing an android app, i want to send (5)String values from one activity to another activity to use in different TextViews, i have tried virtually all the code i could find online on the topic, but i keep getting just one value(the last value i send in the putExtra()). please i am new to Android Studio and will appreciate every help.
I have used the putExtra() to send one data to another activity and it worked perfectly, while trying to do the same with multiple data i keep getting just one of the data sent.
I have also tried using a bundle object, to receive the data from the other(recieving) activity.
I expect getting all this data ( intent.putExtra("surname", "Jerry").
intent.putExtra("middlename", "chris"). intent.putExtra("lastname", "Enema")) in another activity, but i keep getting just "Enema" alone

Try this.
In First Activity:
String sFirstname = "Tope";
String sLastname = "Adebodun";
Intent theIntent = new Intent(MainActivity.this, ReceivingActivity.class);
theIntent.putExtra("firstname", sFirstname);
theIntent.putExtra("lastname", sLastname);
Then in your second activity, do this in the onCreate method:
Intent intent = getIntent();
String thefirst = (String) intent.getExtras.getString("firstname");
String thelast = (String) intent.getExtras.getString("lastname");

I would prefer not to ue getExtras so you should have two getExtra
Like this :
Intent intent = getIntent();
String ssurname = intent.getExtra("surname");
String slastname = intent.getExtra("lastname");
firstname.setText(ssurname);
lastname.setText(slastname);

how to open fragment from another activity android

i am trying to use startactivityfromfragment()
i didnt find sumthing usefull for me to be a good example
until now i was able to move data(string of web url) from fragment to fragment
now its a diffrent story.. i think i need to use startactivityfromfragment()..
but dont know how

Try this:
Put this code in current fragment, from where you want to open an activity.
Intent i=new Intent(getActivity(),Multifragment.class);
i.putExtra("key","value");
getActivity().startActivity(i);
In the next activity which contains fragment, put these:
String value=getIntent().getStringExtra("key");
Bundle bundle=new Bundle();
bundle.putString("key",value);
YourFragmentClass ob=new YourFragmentClass();
ob.setArguments(bundle);
getActivity().getSupportFragmentManager().beginTransaction().replace(R.id.your_container_layout,ob).addToBackStack(null).commit();
Then, In YouFragmentClass:

Use your Activity name as second parameter in which the your MultiFragment exist

For sending data from activity to another activity's fragment call a normal intent with bundle value, In another activity check on getIntent() and call a method from that fragment
Intent intent = new Intent(this, MainActivity.class);
intent.putExtra("web_url", "url");
startActivity(intent);
and call from another activity
String webUrl = getIntent().getStringExtra("web_url");
Fragment newFragment = getSupportFragmentManager().findFragmentById(R.id.frame_tab);
newFragment.openWeb(webUrl);
Method 2
In second activity make a static variable and save the data from getIntent() and in fragment use that variable.
Mehtod 3

I think:
In an activity that doesn't contain fragment:
Intent intent = new Intent(ActivityA.this, ActivityB.class);

And, in the next activity which contains fragment:

How do I transfer data from one activity to another in Android?

I want to transfer my "result" data from my first (Main) acitivity to
my Custaddress activity, which has edit texts for customer details, and then this is sent to an email. The email/edit texts work perfectly - but I want to
add in "result.toString" into email body string. How do I transfer "result" to the second activity? I believe its something to do with arg?

You should use intent (click here) :
Intent intent = new Intent(getBaseContext(), CustAdrresActivity.class);
intent.putExtra("text", mytext);
startActivity(intent);

You just need to replace your lines:
Intent custaddress = new Intent(getApplicationContext(),com.example.frytest.Custaddress.class);
startActivity(custaddress);
with these three lines:
Intent custaddress = new Intent(getApplicationContext(),com.example.frytest.Custaddress.class);
custaddress.putExtra("result", result.toString());
startActivity(custaddress);
and then, when you open the new activity (in your case the Custaddress Activity), you should do the following to get your result
Bundle extras = getIntent().getExtras();
if (extras != null) {
String value = extras.getString("result");
}

You should add Extra in the Intent object which you are passing in the startActivity(intent) method.
Example
String value = "String i want to send to next activity"
Intent intent = new Intent(getApplicationContext(),com.example.frytest.Custaddress.class);
intent.putExtra("KEY", value);
startActivity(intent);
In the Custaddress.java Activity class you need to get the data from the Bundle object that you get as a parameter in the onCreate(Bundle bundle) method
Bundle extras = getIntent().getExtras();

use the below code in parent activity

Can startActivityForResult() send data?

I am learning android and curious to know as if startActivityForResult() contains the properties of startActivity() too, i.e. can it be used to send data like startActivity() beside receiving data from called activity?

Yes, startActivity & startActivityForResult, both take intent as param. You can bundle launch data inside intent and pass it over to target activity.

When you use startActivityForResult(), you have to also create a onActivityResult() method within the Activity that called startActivityForResult(). onActivityResult() is where you can access the Intent stored by the Activity you start for a result.
In the Activity that is then started, you have to call setResult() to store the Intent that you store the data in.

edit: Misread your question. For passing a Bundle of options through, I would use this overload:
startActivity(Intent, int, Bundle)

I'm working in Xamarin Android so the code is C# but I had the same problem except I'm sending between separate apps. I eventually got it working so here is my example.

Passing data from two activities to a third

I have total 3 activites. I pass the data from the first activity like this:
Intent i = new Intent(getApplicationContext(), History.class);
i.putExtra("day", mDay);
i.putExtra("month", mMonth+1);
i.putExtra("year", mYear);
startActivity(i);
get the data:
Bundle extras = getIntent().getExtras();
if(extras !=null) { .......
now I pass the data from the second activity:
Intent i = new Intent(getApplicationContext(), History.class);
i.putExtra("Hday", mDay);
i.putExtra("Hmonth", mMonth);
i.putExtra("Hyear", mYear);
startActivity(i);
and get the data from the second activity:
Bundle extras2 = getIntent().getExtras();
if(extras2 !=null) {
So, I have extras to get the data from the first activity, and extras2 to get the data from the second activity. But when I pass the data from any activity both extras are not null!
What have I done wrong?

The problem is that your third activity has no way of knowing which activity sent the bundle. You need to add a field that identifies what type of bundle this is so you can process accordingly. For instance, in activity 1:
Intent i = new Intent(getApplicationContext(), History.class);
i.putExtra("activity", (int)1);
i.putExtra("day", mDay);
i.putExtra("month", mMonth+1);
i.putExtra("year", mYear);
startActivity(i);
Then in 3rd activity:
Bundle extras = getIntent().getExtras();

if (typeAct == 1) {

pass the data in a one bundle
the first activity would for example have three values in the bundle then the second one retrieves the data from the bundle and addsor 'Append' to the second activity and finally in the third activity you can retrieve the data as a single bundle from the second activity.
