This error is caused due to version conflict of dependency jars. I found that you are using hibernate-jpa-2.1-api in your pom.xml and it is conflicting with the following as your error message says:

It seems to me that your JBoss version supports hibernate jpa version 2.0. So if you are not explicitly using any interfaces out of the 2.1 jpa version in your code, you can try to remove the following dependency:

intellij tomcat "copying resources" takes too much time

I'm building a basic web app using JSF and spring using IntelliJ IDEA. So I followed this post to config the IDEA with tomcat. But when I run the app, it takes too much time to build saying coping resources.(like 1/2 an hour) And when I make a change it takes much longer time. Strangest thing is, after the build, there are ~2GB files inside the target folder. And the same classes folders are recursively copied in to it. which means target\classes\classes\artifacts\java_test_war_exploded\WEB-INF\classes\target\classes\target\classes\target\m2e-wtp\web-resources\META-INF\maven\java_test\...etc. This goes to like infinity!
What is the problem here? Please someone help!

I still couldn’t find a solution for this. So I just deleted the .idea directory from the project and reimported the project to IntelliJ. Then it worked!

I have faced this problem. At first check your project folder's size. If it is too large and it is not normal (my target folder was more than ~ 2 GB) , we have a same problem!
My mistake which caused this problem was that in intellij idea, I had refactored so many packages and changed folder's directions so many at the beginning of my project. My IDE confused and made a lot of same folders in each folder and continued it many many times! Like taking selfie in front of a mirror! what will happen to your pic? it will repeat infinitely.
my solution: create my project again as same as the previous one. but by taking care and not refactoring!

To connect Hadoop (Hive apis) database in Jax - RS rest service - Netbeans

After struggling a lot I managed to have a working code for my Rest service using Jersy -Jax-RS.
My project includes simple database operation with hadoop database. And somehow the errors like :
org/apache/hive/service/rpc/thrift/TCLIService$Iface
re-run maven with the -e switch
class not found org.apache.hive.jdbc.HiveDriver
The catch is: Hadoop database connectivity needs many other supporting dependencies to be accompanied with hive-jdbc jar.
Please follow the POM.xml file to have all operations enabled to connect to Hadoop database.

hive-jdbc is the only dependency you need to connect to Hive over JDBC, and the jdbc driver class should be found. It's not clear how you're running the code
It includes libthrift itself, and doesn't require Hadoop dependencies, but if you did add those, the version must match. Don't mix Hadoop 1.x and Hadoop 2.x
Also, you must match the actual versions running in your Hadoop / Hive environment. Hadoop 2.5 and Hive 0.13 are several years old

Java WEB project warnings

After starting glassfish server i get this warnings:
Warning: Class 'javax.ejb.PostActivate' not found, interception based on it is not enabled
Warning: Class 'javax.ejb.PrePassivate' not found, interception based on it is not enabled
What can be the reason of this warnings ? How can i get rid of them ?
UPD1.
It appears that NetBeans is putting a bunch of jersey jars into the
WEB-INF/lib directory of the application when it is built. These jars
should not be placed in WEB-INF/lib
So it might be, because some jars not should be placed in WEB-INF/lib

If you use Netbeans 7.4 and use the "new Java web application" wizard
and just click through the defaults except be sure to check the box to
include "contexts and dependency injection", then run it on GlassFish
4 and you'll get the warning.

Exclude Test Classes in dependend Maven JAR

We have an EAR Project which assembles a WAR File and has some JAR Files as dependency. POM.xml of the EAR looks like this:

The package-impl, which is included in the EAR as JAR, has some Test Classes in it. Unfortunatly these Test Classes are bundled whith the JAR, when the EAR is assembled. Besides the facet, that Maven should inlucde the test classe, how can I exclude these Test classes in the JAR, when the EAR is assembled?
All Test Classes in package-impl are in src/test/java Source Folder.

This ended up to be an eclipse setting. The EAR-Project had a list of folders which contained the test folder.

The problem has to be in the module for the dependent JAR file. A perhaps someone has configured the build to include the test classes in the JAR. If so, you should fix the module (i.e. its POM file) to not do this, rather than trying to deal with it in your EAR module.

In the past I have accidentally put Test classes in src/main/java instead of src/test/java, and this works(compiles, runs) in eclipse but fails my build because JUnit is not in the class path for the build.
May or may not be true in your case but worth checking.
