I try to write an app with a sqlite database. The Problem is, that my app in the emulator always “Unfortunately stopped”.
The stack trace says that this was happening because of a RuntimeException. This RuntimeException is caused by a SQLiteException.

Please can anybody show over my code and tell me where my error is?

Change a line of your DATABASE_CREATE_SQL string,
put a space + KEY_FAV + "string" before string make it,
+ KEY_FAV + " string"
change public static final int DATABASE_VERSION = 5; value and try again.

private static final String DATABASE_CREATE_SQL =
"create table " + DATABASE_TABLE
+ " (" + KEY_ROWID + " integer primary key autoincrement, "
+ KEY_WEBSITENAME + " string not null, "
+ KEY_USERNAME + " string not null, "
+ KEY_PASSWORD + " string not null, "
+ KEY_NOTES + " string, "
+ KEY_FAV + "string"
+ ");";
rewrite as
private static final String DATABASE_CREATE_SQL =
"create table " + DATABASE_TABLE
+ " (" + KEY_ROWID + " integer primary key autoincrement, "
+ KEY_WEBSITENAME + " string not null, "
+ KEY_USERNAME + " string not null, "
+ KEY_PASSWORD + " string not null, "
+ KEY_NOTES + " string, "
+ KEY_FAV + " string "
+ ");";
as it seems only the space issue with KEY_FAV and String.
The only change required
+ KEY_FAV + "string"
as
+ KEY_FAV + " string "

+ KEY_FAV + "string"
This line treating string all together.
Add a space before.
It would be " string"

The exception is clearly saying that
Caused by: android.database.sqlite.SQLiteException: no such column: favourites (code 1): , while compiling: SELECT DISTINCT _id, websitename, username, password, notes, favourites FROM mainTable
So there is missing a space in front of + KEY_FAV + " string". That is why it is throwing an exception.

Unfortunately Myapp has stopped after entering login details

I am developing an application and after I enter the login details the app crashes.I think the error is due to the problem of database linking and fetching and tried few solutions posted online, but nothing worked.
What can i do to solve this?

Your cursor has only 4 columns:
new String[]{KEY_ID, KEY_USER_NAME, KEY_EMAIL, KEY_PASSWORD}
but you are trying to read 13 columns out of it. It fails on the first non-existing one at index 4.
You can add all the columns you're reading to your projection.
Your isssue is that you have only specified 4 columns to be extracted into the cursor, yet you are trying to get data from 13 columns.
You could change :-
Cursor cursor = db.query(TABLE_USERS,
new String[]{KEY_ID, KEY_USER_NAME, KEY_EMAIL, KEY_PASSWORD},
KEY_EMAIL + "=?",
new String[]{user.email},
null, null, null);
to either :-
Cursor cursor = db.query(TABLE_USERS,
null, // <<<< gets all columns from the table
KEY_EMAIL + "=?",
new String[]{user.email},
null, null, null);
or :-
Cursor cursor = db.query(TABLE_USERS,
new String[]{KEY_ID, KEY_USER_NAME, KEY_EMAIL, KEY_PASSWORD, KEY_FIRST_NAME, KEY_LAST_NAME, KEY_GENDER, KEY_FATHERS_NAME, KEY_MOBILE_NO, KEY_DOB, KEY_INST_NAME, KEY_BRANCH, KEY_YOP},
KEY_EMAIL + "=?",
new String[]{user.email},
null, null, null);
The above two assuming that you want data from all columns.
or you could reduce the number of columns from which you retrieve data but that would depend upon what constructors are available for a User object.

SQLiteException: no such column error [duplicate]

This question already has answers here:
When does SQLiteOpenHelper onCreate() / onUpgrade() run?

Closed 6 years ago.
I have looked through SO and found many people having this same error, but they seem to be forgetting to add the column into the create statement or missing whitespace, neither of which I believe I did.
My logcat is as follows:

If you change the schema you should increment DATABASE_VERSION so the database is upgraded.

I don't get why my cursor is empty... I think it opens the database correctly, and the table too.
Well... I'm new to java so it is probably something stupid i'm missing.
You are trying to insert a value with key KEY_MORTH, however there is no field with this Key in your table
this:
"CREATE TABLE " + DATABASE_TABLE
+ " (" + KEY_ROWID + " INTEGER PRIMARY KEY , "
+ KEY_NOM + " TEXT NOT NULL, "
+ KEY_DESC + " TEXT"
+ ");";
needs to be
"CREATE TABLE " + DATABASE_TABLE
+ " (" + KEY_ROWID + " INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT, "
+ KEY_NOM + " TEXT NOT NULL, "
+ KEY_DESC + " TEXT, "
+ KEY_MORTH + " TEXT "
+ ");";
You will need to update your db version or clear your data for this to take effect
Ok, turns out that my database was simply put in the wrong place. I needed to open the Android Device Monitor, then go the File Explorer, then put my existing database to /data/data/my package name/databases/

NOTE: when you create object from DBAdapter,you should open() db and after your work close() it.
DBAdapter db = new DBAdapter(contex);
db.open();
//do you work
db.close();
Just use getReadableDatabase() without this.
