Trying to ask the user for input in another method - java

I'm trying to ask the user for an input in the "doDeposit" method and check if the ID entered matches one from the file, however I get the error "at java.util.Scanner.throwFor(Unknown Source)" when trying to use the Scanner.

I ran your code. I found two errors.
you have a BankAccount1 class and You refers to BankAccount. without "1".
You use a wrong path
See your path is
C:/Users/USER/workspace/assignment/data/AssignmentData
But Path should be like below
C:\\Users\\Menuka\\IdeaProjects\\JavaTest\\src\\AssignmentData`

Using an arrayList to create a menu and using a text file as input(bufferedReader)

As you can see below I tried creating a switch case for choices
1. Name
2. Course then Name
3. Year Level then Name
4. Course then Year Level and the Name
5. Exit
I don't know how to use switch case so that I could sort everything according to the menu. I will be using comparable and I am only allowed to edit the method called compareTo. My mind is blank and I got no idea where to start.

I also changed file student.txt. According to your code, the first line of the file needs to be the number of students in the file. In the sample file in your question, there are four students.

The code you have pasted require some changes actually.Assuming you need to return the discount percentage based on the customer input you need to do the following changes.
1) You have a setCustomerDiscount in Person class but the entity you are dealing here is of Customer type so you need to add the setCustomerDiscount in the Customer class instead of Person class.
2) As you want to show the percentage in String(as per your sysout statements/ you can also change to Int as required) you need to change the return type to String instead of Int.
3) Another thing is your order of the if/else if conditions should be in descending order.
Once you fix them, you can get your output as expected.

I think it is a logical problem. Simply order the discount formula in reverse.
Catch the big numbers first:

While running the code i am able to get the inputs for the car object array.But after that i am not able to get the values for the variable adjust.
So please need help with this one.
I have tried simply to print the objects at the constructor side.
But not able to receive the 9th input which will be assigned to the var adjust

Inputting data into an object

I'm doing a homework assignment, where we were asked to create a banking system. The first option is to create a customer and to store their information in a customer object. The start of my create_customer() method asks for their name and stores it into a newly create Customer object, but when i call the getName() method, nothing comes back. Here's the initial class Atm which holds all the actions for each option.

You are calling a method
customer.getName();
But you are not actually doing anything with it.. you might want to print it:

Please I would like know How would I implement JOptionPane instead of import java.util.Scanner;

If i implement JOptionPane will it clean up the code I would also like to know any changes anyone would make.

Yes, there are a few flavours, but lets keep it simply and look at JOptionPane.showInputDialog(Object)
The JavaDocs tells us that...
message - the Object to display
Returns:user's input, or null meaning the user canceled the input
So, from that we could use something like...
String value = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("What is your name?");

Now, if we take a look at your code, you could replace the use of scan with...

Now, what I might recommend is creating a simple helper method which can be used to prompt the user in a single line of code, for example...

You could extend the idea of the InputHelper to do automatic conversions and re-prompt the user if the value was invalid...as an idea
