Check two elements are both in the same class - java

I'm trying to assert two elements are in the same class, image attached. So i want to assert the data-qa-card-id="id number" and data-qa-available-card are in the same class. But then i want to check that the data-qa-card-id="id number" and data-qa-active-card are now in the same class after the data qa-card-id-changes state? Could i just use an if statement??
The main issue i have is that I cant figure out how to check when the card id changes from available to active as there are other "card" that have available card and active card elements also so i need to zone in on the exact class of the card id
Ive tried:
public void assert_available_status () {
GameId gameid = GameId.getInstance();
String card_id = gameid.currentGameId;
String available_card_id = game_card_id.getText();
Assert.assertEquals(card_id, this_card_id);
if (game_card_id.getClass() == available_card_status.getClass()) {
System.out.println(card_id + " is an available card");
}
I'm trying to assert the gameid i have matches the game id on the card then i am trying to assert they are in the same class. Not working though

Game id and available card status are type of strings. you can't use == operator to compare, instead compare it using equals method as given below.
if (game_card_id.getClass().trim().equals(available_card_status.getClass().trim()) {
System.out.println(card_id + " is an available card");
}

String firstElementClass = driver.findElement(By.xpath("//div[#data-qa-card-id='first id value']")).getAttribute("class");
String secondElementClass = driver.findElement(By.xpath("//div[#data-qa-card-id='second id value']")).getAttribute("class");
Assert.assertEquals(firstElementClass, secondElementClass);
Hope it helps you.

For loop runs through an ArrayList of objects and checks their names to display them in GUI but Error Message still shows up

I've decided to programm a search system for finding students and teachers in a school via GUI. It is an OOP and need some tweaking here and there, but there is one issue which doesn't seem logical to me. When I'm searching for a teacher, I have to type there name or surname into a JTextField and press the Search button which runs a method that loops through an ArrayList of teacher-objects and checks if their names match with the one in the Textfield. Then it checks if these teachers have multiple subjects and grades and it goes through nested if-statements. After the teacher is found, their information is displayed on a GUI with several Texfields. Theoretically if the name I typed into the TextField doesn't match one from the teacher objects, a Error Message should pop-up saying the teacher I'm looking for isn't in the system. But even though I type in the correct name and get all the information displayed, it sends me to the Error Message everytime. I tried to fix it with a break statement but that didn't work either. Can someone please help me with this.
Here is the code I'm talking about:

I've uploaded my project to GitHub. Methods and variables are written in German, so I'm really sorry if you can't understand what I have written. If u have questions please hit me up. I use Eclipse to code.
This link should direct you to my GitHub:

If the link doesn't work, look for Gonzo-CR on GitHub and check out my Home-projects repository where I uploaded all the files.
For better undestanding these are the Object oriented classes:
Person(Abstract)
Schueler
Lehrer
Fach
Schulklasse
Spezial
Sprecher
GUI classes:
Suchsystem
Testdaten(A class which generates all my objects)
The problem is likely that if td.getFachliste(0).getLehrerliste(i).getName().equals(lehrername) is not true the very first time the loop runs, switchPanels_3(panelErrorLehrer); will be triggered - regardless of whether the condition is met on a later iteration of the loop.
What you need is to check a sentinel value after the loop finishes - e.g.:
bool lehrerGefunden = false;
for(int i = 0; i < td.getFachliste(0).getListenLaengeLehrerListe();i++){
if(td.getFachliste(0).getLehrerliste(i).getName().equals(lehrername) || td.getFachliste(0).getLehrerliste(i).getNachname().equals(lehrername)){
//etc.
lehrerGefunden = true;
break;
}
}
if(!lehrerGefunden){
switchPanels_3(panelErrorLehrer);
}
That way, you check every entry in the list before deciding whether to show the error.

Is it possible to randomize a single word within a String attribute within an object from an array of possible options?

I'm very new to java and coding in general, so I apologize if this is a simple thing. I want to know if it's possible to add a variable within a string that will be randomized when the item itself is chosen from the ArrayList of options.
I've already created the objects, put them in an ArrayList, and have a method that randomly calls indices from the ArrayList and prints their attributes. However, some (not all) I would like to randomize a part of the "name" attribute from another separate Array. Is there a way to do this? If possible, I'd like it to be randomized each time its called, so in the case that I call that particular object twice from the ArrayList, its "name" attribute would not be identical (unless by chance the same suffix is called from the random name Array twice).
//Doesn't need randomization
Item r1 = new Item("Static Name", 1000);
// (X) needs to be either "Title", "Callsign", or "Identifier"
Item r2 = new Item("Random (X)", 500);
UPDATE:
I followed DevilsHnd's suggestion, but it doesn't seem to replace anything.
//declared in class
String[] suffix = {"Title","Callsign","Nickname"};
//as part of toString()
if (name.contains("(X)")) {
name.replace("(X)", [new Random().nextInt(((suffix.length - 1) - 0) + 1) + 0]);
My toString still prints out "Random (X)" instead of a desired "Random Title".
I am able to get it to work if I remove the if function and use a static value for the replacement, like name = name.replace("(X)","Title");, but I still can't figure out how to get it to replace it with a value from the suffix array.
I'm not sure if I get what you mean but you may get an idea from the following:
String[] attributes = {"Title", "Callsign", "Identifier"};
String itemString = "Random (X)";
if (itemString.contains("(X)")) {
itemString = itemString.replace(
"(X)",
attributes[new Random().nextInt(((attributes.length - 1) - 0) + 1) + 0]
);
}
System.out.println(itemString);
Item r2 = new Item(itemString, 500);

How to compare two datasets to check for missing rows which don't exist in the other dataset?

I have built a method which takes two datasets: dataset1 and retirementSimpleData.
It matches the two datasets based on a primary key/number, defined as cnum, in the code below.
I wanted to return the value of the difference between the getAssets value and the getSums value, and this is working, except for one little problem.
Some of the cnums that exist in dataset1 don't exist in retirementSimpleData. Similarly, some cnums which may exist in retirementSimpleData may not exist in
dataset1. This is resulting in no data being returned for that cnum.
I would like to implement two passes at the end which check in one direction to see if I missed anything. The second pass would check in the opposite direction.
However, not sure how I would go about implementing this.
public void getReportData(int index) {
String date1 = Util.dateTimeToShortString(reportDate);
String date2 = reportDao.getPreviousRetirementDate(date1);
List<SurveyCompareAssetsCheckData> dataset1 = reportDao.getSurveyCheckCompareAssetsData(date1);
List<RetSurveyAssets> retirementSimpleData = reportDao.findRetSurveyByDate(date1);
for (SurveyCompareAssetsCheckData surveyCompareAssetsCheckData : dataset1) {
for (RetSurveyAssets surveyCompareAssetsCheckData2 : retirementSimpleData) {
if (surveyCompareAssetsCheckData.getCnum() == surveyCompareAssetsCheckData2.getCnum()) {
surveyCompareAssetsCheckData.setRetirementsimple(surveyCompareAssetsCheckData2.getSums());
surveyCompareAssetsCheckData.setDifference(surveyCompareAssetsCheckData.getAssets() - surveyCompareAssetsCheckData2.getSums());
Caveat: dataset1 and retirementSimpledata both use existing SQL pulls which I am not allowed to touch, otherwise I would have simply defined new SQL for these methods in my "DAOImpl." Therefore, I have to work with the data I am getting, and programmatically check for this.
Below, is the report which is being generated with my code. As you can see, I am ending up with zeros, which is showing the difference (incorrectly) as zeros, because Cnum #45, in this example simply doesn't exist in the second dataset (retirementSimpleData)
What is the datatype of Cnum, if it is int then default value is Zero.
You have to add else-if condition to check for example:
else if (surveyCompareAssetsCheckData2.getCnum()== 0){
-------- logic here --------------------
}
else if (surveyCompareAssetsCheckData.getCnum() ==0){
----------logic here -----------
}

Looping through Arrays in Java

I am trying to write a program to simulate an airline reservation system. I an supposed to use an array of type boolean to represent the number of seats. First five seats represent first class and last five represent economy. Initially the program must allow the user to make a choice between first class and economy and then his choice is processed as follows:
A user can only be assigned an empty seat in the class he chooses.
Once a class is full, the user is offered the option to move to the next class
If the user agrees to move to the next class a simple boarding pass is printed.
If the user refuses to move to the next class. The time for the next flight is displayed. i would appreciate help on how to loop through the elements of the array to determine whether its true of false. Also i am trying to display the number of seats available in each class before the user makes a selection this is what i've written so far.. My code is far from complete, i acknowledge that, i am a novice programmer please help. Thank you.
import java.util.Scanner;
public class AirlineReservation
{
private boolean[] seats =; // array to hold seating capacity
private String AirlineName; // name of airline
private int[] counter = new int[5]
// constructor to initialize name and seats
public Airline(String name, boolean[] capacity )
{
AirlineName = name;
seats = capacity;
} // end constructor
// method to set the Airline name
public void setName( String name )
{
AirlineName = name; // store the course name
} // end method setCourseName
// method to retreive the course name
public String getName()
{
return AirlineName;
} // end method getName
// display a welcome message to the Airline user
public void displayMessage()
{
// display welcome message to the user
System.out.printf("Welcome to the Self-Service menu for\n%s!\n\n",
getName() );
} // end method displayMessage
// processUserRequest
public void processUserRequest()
{
// output welcome message
displayMessage();
// call methods statusA and StatusB
System.out.printf("\n%s %d:\n%s %d:\n\n",
"Number of available seats in First class category is:", statusA(),
"Number of available seats in Economy is", statusB() );
// call method choice
choice();
// call method determine availability
availability();
// call method boarding pass
boardingPass();
} // end method processUserRequest
public int statusA()
{
for ( int counter = 0; counter <= (seats.length)/2; counter++ )
} // revisit method
// method to ask users choice
public String choice()
{
System.out.printf(" Enter 0 to select First Class or 1 to select Economy:")
Scanner input = new Scanner( System.in );
boolean choice = input.nextBoolean();
} // end method choice
// method to check availability of user request
public String availability()
{
if ( input == 0)
System.out.printf("You have been assigned seat number \t%d", seats[ counter ]);
else
System.out.printf("You have been assigned seat number \t%d", seats[ counter ]);
}
}
#Anthony : As you are novice, hence please look at following comments :
1. Be specific while asking your question. In this case the question was "how to loop through array!". You posted complete problem statement.
2. Please google it or research it properly on internet if similar question has been asked by anybody before. In this case, similar question can be find here :
Iterate through string array in Java
Because of these reasons people are giving your query downvote!
Now just want to provide answer to your question as you look quite new to programming :
boolean flag[] = {true,false,true,false};
for(int i=0;i<flag.length;i++){
System.out.println(flag[i]);
}
I hope it helps!

GWT telephone number masking

Does anyone know how to go about creating field that would perform telephone number format masking, like here (___) ___-____:
http://www.smartclient.com/smartgwt/showcase/#form_masking
A better approach would be to let the user type whatever they want: "789-555-1234" or "(789) 555-1234" or "7895551234" and then when the field loses focus decide if what they typed can be a phone number. If so you can reformat it as "(789) 555-1234". There are several related questions about how to do that sort of thing with regular expressions; just be sure your regex accepts the format you're changing the user's input to, otherwise it will be really annoying to edit.
As an example, look what happens when you type ".5" into the left margin field in Microsoft's standard page setup dialog: when you tab out it changes it to "0.5".
UPDATE: Here's sample code in GWT to illustrate. For the sake of this example, assume there's an element called "phoneContainer" to put the text box in. GWT doesn't give you the full java.util.regex package, but it gives enough to do this:
private void reformatPhone(TextBox phoneField) {
String text = phoneField.getText();
text = text.replaceAll("\\D+", "");
if (text.length() == 10) {
phoneField.setText("(" + text.substring(0, 3) + ") " + text.substring(3, 6) + "-" + text.substring(6, 10));
}
}
public void onModuleLoad() {
final TextBox phoneField = new TextBox();
RootPanel.get("phoneContainer").add(phoneField);
phoneField.addBlurHandler(new BlurHandler(){
public void onBlur(BlurEvent event) {
reformatPhone(phoneField);
}
});
}
It looks like you'd want to create your own widget that extends the GWT input box and has a default value set to the mask you want. Then you handle the onKeypress event and update the field as needed (making sure to set the cursor position to the correct location).
